um hi i can not put it in maybe you can help? i recently found my nintendo 3ds lite and i cant put it in gently any tips i cant buy the original charger now and i need to charge it to check if it works properly ps my english is a bit bad
Hell yeah brotha. I appreciate this tip. I recently found my old DS and DS Lite but couldn't for the life of me find the Lite charger. Idk why Nintendo has to pull an Apple and change the ports randomly from gen to gen. Anyways, thanks again man you're a life saver.

I’ll be completely honest. I didn’t think it was going to work but it did lol. I’m an American athlete out in Germany playing American football at the moment and I brought my old GBA SP and DS lite with me for the hell of it. I have the OG charger for the SP but no charger for the lite. Long story short, I start playing Pokémon Emerald yesterday on the SP with a full battery and got addicted again but then I remembered I never charged it here in Germany, Only back home before I left maybe a month ago. I went to charge it and the charger doesn’t want to work for some weird reason smh. So I thought I was out of luck besides having to finally “order” one and who knows how long it would have took to get here. This video saved me from having to do that so I appreciate you HIGHLY lol. Dead serious when i say it worked!

Thanks, I had ordered 2 cables (just in case :-) - they weren't very expensive), but they didn't really seem to fit that well. But then I of course found your video and with a slight bit of force, I was able to make at least one of the cables fit (haven't tried the other one yet). So thanks, you just saved from having to buy a regular (non original) wall charger for 3 times the amount I had already given for the 2 cables :-)
I actually just recently bought a Nintendo DS Lite and I thought it had the same charger as the 3Ds. BOY WAS I WRONG. Thankfully I have the right plug from my PS Classic to do the job. I really only bought the DS so I could play GBA games anyway. Thanks for saving my DS Lite's life!

And when i remembered something, i had a dash cam that has a charger that wasn’t the one that you used it in this video but it still charged the DS Lite! I just found my ds lite in my dads basement while looking for a ps2. I could not find the charger but my dad has a few dozen of these lying around for some reason. Thank you so much. I will not be the only weirdo in my grade who does not have a ds, 2ds, or a 3ds
I got my ds lite from a thrift store, it is second hand, and it didn’t come with a charger, and I was gonna order a charger for it online, but I decided not to, I will to find a charger that’ll fit, thanks for this!

Man I had a charger but it didn’t work I though it was my ds lite but I watched your vid and it saved me time money and less stress I was shiny hunting Pokémon on emerald and I didn’t know what to do until I saw your vid but I try to get the ps3 usb and it didn’t fit I did everything it seem the plastic inside where you charge it didn’t. Want to fit so it fall off and I saw this 2 some kind of sticks or what ever it is and I put it in and crossed my finger for hope it was charging and it did wow thanks dude u deserve a like and sub
I know this is 6 months later, but I think he used the graphing calculator charger. I used a TI-84 Plus CE charger for my DS lite and it works. Either it’s that or the ps3 controller charger.

I cant believe this actually works, I guess ill be using this until the replacement arrives. to anyone attempting to do this: This slightly wears down the charging port over time I would not recommend it unless its an emergency.
Do you think it's fine to keep doing this for an extended period of time? I worry the charging port would get easily damaged. A new charger isn't too expensive but still I'm curious
Thinking about it, this solution should really be a temporary one tbh (e.g. if you really need to check something on Ur nds at this moment or you don't have time to buy new charger yet). So if you want to play it safe, don't rely on this solution permanently. I know it looks kinda dumb for me to criticise my own solution like that, but safety is paramount after all.
It's one of the cheapest device-specific cables there is. Mini USB will break it someday. If you drop it or kick the wire, it won't pull out immediately. I'm pretty sure it'd be done.
Found this video today, it works but my ds charger port was already loose and shitty so I had to play with it until I found a specific angle. Even then the slightest nudge will cause it to stop charging. I know it works better with an official charger so I'll have to put up with it until I can buy an official charger lol. Pretty cool though, didn't expect it to work.
Just a warning this will damage the plastic of the inside of the charging port. This will not make it unusable but to anyone who cares about keeping there ds in perfect condition it cuts off the edge of the plastic on the inside of the port till it fits
yo it works for all nds just gotta do it right, get pliers and bend the port you inntennd to use to more match the device you pluggin into then you can be assured no damage, and make sure you get good charge
It should be fine, especially if you're in the UK. UK plugs are designed to only take what they need, so if it's a 5 cable it'll only take 2.3 and return the rest though the third bracket. Though if you're doing this with the USB into a laptop I'm not sure if it'll be less safe
The DS lite's charger provides 5.2V @ 900Ma. Dropping the voltage to 5V will just cause the DS to draw a negligible amount more current. I wouldn't try this using a USB port on a computer, but rather a power brick or something with a higher amperage .
looking back on this, i dont feel like this is the best solution and as of now i wouldnt 100% recommend it tbh. this is because there is a chance this could break the port. if u really want to use this method dont do it all the time, the best best solution is to see if they sell DS chargers/charging cables idk. but if u have no other solution as of now then feel free to use this solution i guess. i will have to make revisions to this video at some point. that being said, im glad i could help! nice rei profile pic btw :)
@@TheDustball2 yep I was afraid of permanently ruining the port as well, but considering I have no other option left at the moment it'll do for now :/ if it breaks I'll keep you updated in case anyone needed that as well (btw thanks lmao rei is such an aesthetic)
@@jwancho it did work, even not fully sticking the charger into the port. I just wiggled it pressing lightly like showed in the video and it began charging.
Thanks man! I happened to have a mini usb in a drawer, ive had no fucking clue what the heck it's for for years, and I still don't know. But it came in handy. Most of my cables are lightning, type C or micro-usb, lucky to have an inexplicable mini-usb lying around
