Hello Peter. I have an interesting symptom, I have a 2003 corolla sport. My belt squeaks only at 1000 RPM's. If this was a tensioner issue, would it squeak all the time? If the belt is bad would it squeak all the time? Or is there another part causing the problem? Your videos are very educational and extremely informative. Thank you and please post more videos!

I'm wanting to change my serpentine belt and also my chain tensioner, I tried to remove the belt but every video apart from this one shows you just need to put the wrench on the top "nut" that's welded in the tensioner and not the loosen the bolt under it, I tried all day and with both hands full force to move the tensioner forwards....without success other than killing my hands and arms, I will try again tomorrow by loosning the nut underneath and trying again, HOPEFULLY it works...thanks

Nice video. However, you don't have to touch the tensioner mid/attaching bolt at all. Just put 19mm socket etc. tool to the fixed/welded nut in the tensioner, pry tensioner open as much as needed for the belt to loosen, put new belt back in and you're done. :-)

hi I have a question I heard you mention that it's better to buy an original serpentine belt from toyota because it's very good quality but I already bought one from a Napa auto store and the belt is made by gates that it's suppose to be a good quality also . but now I'm confuse did I do the wrong thing by buying the serpentine belt from Napa and not from the toyota parts department please get me out of my doubt and reply thank you. ..

Hi, Thank you very much. Very nice way how you explain. I have a Yaris, but 1.4 d4d 2010. It seems that's the same installation, I tried to changde the alternator but can't access to all these piece. What is your suggestion please to access ? Should I go by down, or by side (Remove the bumper on the front wheel?) Do you have some advice ? Because impossible to do like you (no space to access to the tensioner). Thanks you very much :)

Change the belt and low rev squeaking went away. But I noticed about 1mm (3/64in) left right play on the power steering pulley and even less on the AC compressor. Is this acceptable?

I have a 2006 Toyota Corolla with 45,900 miles. This is the recommendation from the Toyota dealer: “Drive belt, very dry, full of cracks, replacement cost is $245 USD”. It costs too much. I am thinking about changing it by myself.

in order to remove the belt tenisoner, you must remove the bolt to the motor mount and jack the motor using a jack and a wood block. place the bolt on the jack and jack up the motor using a solid place on the oil pant to clear the 17mm bolt from the engine block. not so easy to do.

I made the mistake of not loosening the tensioner. It did not spring back when I put everything back together until I loosened it and heard/saw it spring back and then re-tightened it. Peter, as always, is worth listening to.
