Another, and very important, thing to consider is what the grinding components are made of. The better units costing more have stainless steel components, while the low cost units have galvanized steel. The problem with galvanized steel is it will rust in short order, and that is why they only have a short warranty. Do yourself a favor and purchase a disposal with stainless steel parts that won't rust!
Hi Diana, Use the disposal more. And it should work itself off. The blades should be stainless and that rust is typically on the surface of the blades. Hope this helps!
