@@jaydenhohman2590 I think that’s ignoring an element of smash as a social game. I think there’s a give and take that can be found if you play a character that your friends actually find deeply frustrating. Like, if they’re your friends they’ll value you enjoying yourself too, but maybe pick up a more chilled out secondary your friends enjoy playing against more so playing against you doesn’t feel like a meat grinder

@@jaydenhohman2590 I think gate keeping is the wrong way to frame it if you wanna maintain healthy relationships. I’d frame it as making sure everyone involved in a game is having a similar level of fun to ensure everyone wants to come back and play again next time. Sometimes that might mean balancing playing your favorite character with playing a character that you still like, but let’s everyone else have a bit more fun for a bit

The most important thing is to find someone fun AND someone who you believe in. Enjoying in your character will make grinding with your character and problem-solving enjoyable and believing in them makes it feel worth while.

I've always agreed with the idea that you should have 1 dedicated technical or good character and then if you want to have a second character to play, make sure it's someone that's somewhat simple. It makes co-maining of having pocket characters way less mentally draining.

If you play a character, lose, and your response is "I suck! I gotta do better." BOOM your new main is here! If you play a character, lose, then say "Dang this character lame!" do NOT main that character. Chances are, you are wrong, unless we're talking about ZSS. Why? Because ZSS sux.

My favorite thing to do in smash is to play my Mario vs my best friend’s ROB and to have him go off ledge with arm rotor, miss, and I drop off ledge and fastfall forward air him in the blast zone

Its funny that Hero fits both Heavy hits, zoning, and is a sword character. But hes underexplored so he goes under the radar. Also buffs and his sword and bounce virtually counter steve along with his spells and zapple.

My type of characters are: slow(or at least not fast) characters that are very combo centric and more often than not have a projectile Turns out I really enjoy the Pits, Doc, Robin (not exactly combos but still), Ike (LOL), Falco and Rob The pits are my favorite ultimately

I feel pretty similarly, and I’m surprised that our lists barely intersect at all. I play Pac-Man, with a K. Rool secondary and a pocket Robin. As someone who is a huge fan of Pac-Man, I’d really suggest giving him a try; you can set up a lot of cool hydrant/fruit interactions that just make people go, “that’s a thing?” and I find it’s often good fun all around. I’ll definitely try out the Pits as well, in 700 hours of SSBU I don’t think I’ve ever even tried them outside of Random!

I main kirby because I feel more comfortable with his movement than I do with any other character I like how he can stay in the air really long his attacks are very fast and additionally he's cute even though he kind of sucks i definitely resonate with him and especially how small he his and how he can be really detailed with his positioning and attack patterns recently tho i've been trying to find a secondary and ironically I find myself most attracted to the fast sword characters which is what kirby does the worst against but so far i'm really liking corrin and cloud

that last guy who wants a real grappler, Incineroar is THE grappler of Ultimate. DK and Bowser get a lot out of grabs, but Incin is the only character that matches the FGC grappler mentality of making players terrified to block but also afraid to push the wrong button.

I really like playing cround pleasers and win with characters you rarely see, so something like "winning in my way" sort of thing. My go to character to win is mewtwo. I struggle with finding a secondary because there are like 8 other characters I like to play. Somebody told me that Mewtwo/Cloud would go crazy, because Cloud could cover really bad matchups like Falco. Min Mim would still be a problem but I'm lucky that there are none in my area.

Pick your character and have fun. If your friends complain that your character is toxic, choose the belmonts as a secondary. If you main belmonts, swap to steve. If you main steve, idk how's puberty going dude?
