How to choose a surfboard?

hey! i surfed last summer on a super super cheap foam board and it all felt wrong. it didnt feel like it matched what i was trying to do. i live on the east coast and mainly surf smaller waves since big stuff over here is rare. talking 4 foot swells on average. im about 5'10 and weigh in about 160. just wanna be able to ride a wave parallel to the beach, what type of board do you think would suit me best?

hey, i started surfing when i was about 8 years old but only surfed on my vacations as i live in paris (i go to cap-breton 3 times a year for probably 5weeks total) and i just took a lot of lessons with a surf school, now i surf 1-3 footers with a 6,2 performance foamy) unfortunately i can’t really small manoveurs or gain speed. what board should i consider buying ? (i’m 14, 155cm, 48kg)

Guys I need your advice on getting my first board! So I'm a beginner and I surf on 6.6-7ft softboards (foamies) that I rent from the local surf club. I'm thinking about getting something like a 6.6 funboard, but I've never tried a funboard before, so I have doubts with deciding if the fun is the right board for me. I did try a shortboard, and it was too small and difficult to surf, but i also want to progress from the foamies. What's your opinion?

Mid6 is a fun board? Harley may not agree.
