How to choose the RIGHT Nursing speciality ? DO YOU NEED 1 YEAR OF MED SURG? 

As a nursing instructor I always tell my students getting one year of med surg experience is NOT a requirement! I wish other nurses quit saying that because new grads don't hardly last six months working med surg and only end up hating nursing. You can learn the same time management skills working other specialities! Why go work a speciality that you only end up hating! Always follow your heart and do what you love! Great video Queen❤

THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! I AM a travel nurse recruiter and I treat my nurses like the divas they are. I believe there HAS to be an understanding of exactly how much is on the line when nurses travel. Some recruiters think “ look at all that money they make, I’m sure they are happy” and move on. Not true. I contact my nurses weekly sometimes twice a week, however,I put myself available 24/7 and have a crisis support team of doctors and nurses that are 24/7 for anything I can’t help with. Some Recruiters work VERY hard to cultivate a relationship with nurses. I want to help give these nurses what they DESERVE. I am not able to save lives, like you- but I am damn sure able to make sure you get paid what your worth. This video is SO helpful. I always gravitate to the nurses and their needs. I have lost nurses w transparency of how pay pkgs are broken down- but- If you hide nothing, have never have an issue with integrity. You trust me to handle your life for the length of your assignment- I think that’s an honor. So, sometimes I have to be relentless in getting what my travelers want- it may not always happen- but fear? No one that recruits correctly should be afraid because they are fighting for what you are requesting. Recruiting is not sales! It is offering assignments to people who save lives and getting them the compensation they deserve ❤️bless you all and safe travels! Hoping to run into some of you!!!!

When you were applying to many places in the country, is it that you already had a compact license and so you were able to do that ? Or will some places accept you and give you time to get your license for that state if you don’t yet have it ?

What would you say to a student who feels like they want to do a bit of everything? I want to work with kids and babies, but I’m also interested in trauma nursing, and then there’s another part of me that thinks about long-term care. I am so confused.

I feel like 1 year of med surg is good for students who have no idea what they want to do or those who have no clinical experience except school. She says as a true ER nurse lol
