Hey, Great videos. Thanks for your effort. Been working as a nurse for the past 32 years and looking for a stress relief with the current situation. These EUC's and one wheels have been on my radar for a couple of weeks. Your vids have helped me a lot. Just ordered the KS 16S as my first EUC. Keep making the videos. Love the family interaction. Thanks
Once I learned to ride my 18XL, I immediately started to notice a difference in mood on days I got to ride it vs. days I didn't. Now I keep an eye out for new places I can go and be alone, just me and my wheel.
Exactly one year ago I decided to buy my first electric vehicle. In january my inmotion v8 arrived. I bought it to be mobile when I visit big cities. I thought 30 kilometers range would be enough. But learning how to ride it was so much fun that I rode it almost everyday. Soon 30 kilometers weren't enough anymore, because it is only a hour and a half of riding. On 28th february I purchased my Kingsong KS18 XL that I still ride today. A few weeks after I bought the XL my V8 cut out on me. I didn't hurt myself but I asked Amazon, from where I bought it, to take it back. They refunded the whole price altough the wheel was scratched. I miss it until today but I couldn't trust it anymore. My XL is still reliable and I put more than 4000 kilometers on it. I use it for commuting, for going into the grocery store, for everything. A few wheeks ago I bought a Lacroix Nazare but I have to admit I rarely ride it. Now because of the weahter but I like the unycicle more.
I'm inclined to agree about not using smaller wheels to learn; I initially brought a dirt cheap, 12", low power wheel to dip my toe in the water, and it had to be the worst thing to learn on (especially as I had no easy access to a decent flat surface, and no walls to grab onto), it was incredibly unstable and could barely ride a few yards without coming off. Upgraded to a used Ninebot One E+ and was able to stay on it and ride over ten times that distance without support in a matter of hours. I think the added weight (and associated inertia), plus the larger tire contact area really helped. Now I just need to learn to do controlled turns and I'm nearly there! I should note that motorcycle boots might be a good recommendation for newbies as they have decent ankle protection against the inevitable bruises you'll get when practicing.
Electric Unicycle Forums -> Private Sales (find a used EUC in your local area). It's just like starting any other hobby, buy used / cheap and see if you like it first before dropping $$$.
Great video, Jimmy. Something that really needed to be made. I ended up picking an 18X but wish i watched your video and would've bought the 16s. You're spot-on that the size of the 18x is pretty intimidating to learn on.
Great video, Jimmy! My first EUC back in July 2015 was the Fastwheel Eva Pro, a 12 inch EUC. Because of my background in rollerblading, skiing, and snowboarding, I was able to ride comfortably in about 4-5 hours total. That company Fastwheel is no longer around so no more 12 inch EUCs exist. I have since purchased 14 and 18 inch wheels, both from KingSong. I recently just purchased the Gotway MTen3 which is a 10 inch wheel. Definitely another learning curve with this really small 10 inch wheel. Very agile indeed. I wholeheartedly agree with starting with a 16 inch wheel to get into the EUC world. Jason McNeil of EWheels is the best and well recommended both at sales and after sales support.
I've been commuting on my inline skates for over a year now and even though I love it sometimes I need something motorized after a long tough day for those 7 miles between my place and work. I can't afford multiple wheels but I can a good one. That's why I chose the INMOTION V11 for my first wheel after countless hours of research. I will let you know how it goes as a first wheel for a former inline skater commuter
I agree with everything you said in this video. Yes, eWheels is a great supplier. Yes, 16" is a good starting size, though even smaller might not be bad either. The smaller, lighter wheels are easier to manage. I bought my Kingsong 16S last spring largely based on your recommendation and have been very pleased with it. And oh has it taken a beating during the learning process. But it still performs flawlessly. Can't wait for your 16S / 16X comparison.
My first wheel was a 450€ KS14-S with 2000km on it. Rode like a dream, insane range, good power. Rode it for about 100-150 km, bought a used MSuper v3S+ with 1600wh and the 2000w motor (which is basically a preproduction MSX 84v) with 2500km and I ride it about 100km every week for about 750€. Now, I can't imagine a wheel that can't cruise to at least 45 km/h, even though when I first started I thought the ks14s would be all I need and 30 km/h was plenty fast...
Can you guys please do another one of these videos for 2023? I’ve been looking at EUC’s for months now and newer better ones keep dropping and QC is (hopefully) getting better making it harder to choose a first wheel.
Hi Jimmy, great content as usual. Very informative and useful information for someone like me who is kind of on the fence about getting an EUC and you are making me lean toward getting one. I envision riding an EUC to be like riding the Minipro because you are facing forward, but on steroids and with much more maneuverability. Mike in Tampa
I have onewheel XR and EUC. I prefer EUC because of longer range, speed, and convenience since you can just pull out the handle and drag like a luggage while Onewheel you have to carry it when you access to place that wont allow to ride
I can ride a regular unicycle so the electric unicycle was super easy for me just practice a couple hours and then I take it to the street. When you get the hang out of it you want to ride every day and it's so much fun.
Just get a top tier model if you plan on commuting. None of them are cheap so you might as well get one with longer range as you don't want to buy it twice, as you'll probably max out a cheaper unit quickly.
Unfortunately training wheels aren’t an option for me at 230lbs. Bought an ACM and it broke twice. Just had eWheels convert the battery into a one of the batteryless 84v MSX. Which will now pretty much be my “trainer” wheel. But I agree YOU CAN’T go wrong with EWHEELS. Excellent company.
I've been really interested in Ewheels for awhile now and I think you may have convinced me to get a Kingsong 16s for my first wheel. Great way to steer me toward the service Ewheels because support is really the most important aspect when buying expensive new devices like this, no matter how well they are made.
@@cheefussmith9380 No because we were planning a long trip to Europe this year and first our cruise got cancelled in Apr, then our flights got cancelled at later dates in june and July so now we've given up try to get there and so I may look into this again, thanks for reminding me!
XWolven man, this thing is the worst isn’t it? I know we’re lucky to be healthy but the lockdown hosed so many people’s holidays! Sorry about your trips - you should get a wheel to compensate. Think about all the money you saved!
@@cheefussmith9380 I got it now! Well a KS 14D because it was easier to get mainly. Its great but i'm still learning to ride it. I'm disabled so it's going to take me longer.
Great insights Jimmy! I also think eWheels is a great company. I have only heard great things from people who have bought from them. I was about to pull the trigger on a Gotway MCM5 14” from them as my first EUC. However, I picked up the Kaabo Mantis hyper scooter instead. They were about the same price and I really wanted a hyper scooter. I like the mid-range EUCs for my commute and they are super portable at sub-50lbs. The Mantis can cruise at over 40MPHs very safely but it is also pretty big so it is much more cumbersome taking it on my commute. I only use it occasionally for commuting and mostly for speed errands around San Francisco. I will look into an EUC next summer when hopefully I will have another purchasing window after my wife has absorbed the Mantis purchase. By then I will likely be looking at one of the 84v-100v+ EUCs.
Watching Duf's videos convinced me that I could learn to ride an EUC. His videos are ?.... Real. If I only had videos of Chooch to watch, I might have questioned if I were able to learn. One side effect of Duf's Channel is that I now have a 3D printer. LOL. You are wise beyond your years. Thanks for making quality well informed videos. You almost have me convinced in buying a OW
At first I was planning to get an inmotion V5 (or V5f) because they werent the most inexpensive, but still in the low end of price. Then I thought I won't be able to buy a second one for a while so I should maybe save up a bit more and buy the next level up, a V8 (or maybe now the V8f) because it'll last longer. It's not the fastest by a long shot but I also dont want to get over confident with speed, and the price is still within a range that I like. A Kingsong in the same range might be possible give or take another couple hundred bucks, but I like the look of the Inmotions wheels more. As you might be able to tell, I've been thinking about this for while.
Jimmy, I’m a bigger guy. I need an EUC that can handle a 240 lbs guy. I want something that can pull me decently fast and handle trail riding. I’d like something not too large so I can take it to work on the train too. If you can point me to the right wheel or two, I’d appreciate it.
Imma buy V11 or S18. My own advice sounds like this: 1. Go for highend. It saves more money then you would lose by not getting into EUC. 2. Listen to the pros. Go 18inch :D 3. If youre from youre get ready to pay around 40% more for it then a us citizen because... reasons.
my first EUC from zero is inmotion v8, still ride till now. good point for practicing and good enough for more advance rider, same as your though Jimmy, pick the middle class/type.
Thanks for the info. I was considering getting the veteran sherman first off, but should I maybe get a cheaper one to learn with then have 2 for later?
If u have no money buy the z6 Chinese companies will mod it. It can go 80km and 43kmph. Soo yeah it’s pretty cool. There’s also a very thick tire that makes riding smoother. The app is also good, and had custumizeable mud guard and handle bar. Also, I haven’t ever heard about it explode. Unlike gotway XD BUT ofc better upgrade to gotway soon as they as faster and cooler
Hey Jimmy, great video as usual. Ive been thinking of getting a EUC. I started with a onewheel xr just like you. But after getting thrown off the board without feeling any kickback on it whatsoever, ive been kinda scared to ride it at speeds i feel comfortable with. Ive heard EUCs can reach much higher speeds, but what is you take on the reliability and safety measures. Ideally id like to ride between 20-30mph which i dont think is crazy for a EUC, but then i see videos of people getting thrown off of it and get scared.
I'm not Jimmy but here are my thoughts and what other EUC riders talk about. I've been riding EUC (16S, 18L and Nikola 2100Wh) solo or with group rides for a while now . Here it goes: All around (Street and Dirt) wheel for range (70+ miles) and under 30 mph the Nikola 84v 2100Wh, over 31 mph less range Nikola 100v. Best dirt, less range wheel K16X. These EUC all have 16" diameter by 3" wide tire (is what you want) which is ideal for best all around performance. If you are located in the USA purchase from EWheels, customer support/service is number 1!
I will ride over 20 if I have full gear on but even then it's only for bursts and never for long periods. I can't afford to get hurt too badly. I just love to cruise. All devices are susceptible to failure, but the EUCs have more safety measures than the Onewheel at this time.
I ride since 11 month now and I fall twice. The first time was my fault. I tried to go up curb aslant. It didn't felt like I hurt myself but when riding home I noticed some moves hurt. A few hours later I had realy bad pain when moving my knee. Luckily it disappeared but it scared me and made me carefully. The secound time my Inmotion V8 cut out on me when accelerating. There was no beep. I didn't hurt myself at all but I returned the wheel and because I bought it from Amazon I got full refund. Since 9 month I ride a Kingsong KS18 XL, almost everyday and a lot of time until it beeps. I put more than 4000 kilometers on it and I never hat a big issue, nor I got hurt. I think modern EUC with a big battery and enogh power are safe. The biggest security risk is the driver so you should really be responsible when going so fast.
@@millionairejh 16x and 18 XL are both great wheels but there are differences. I would take the 18 XL again because I prefer top speed, comfort and range over agility and gradeability. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jxhKqW4USp0.html
Great video I just bought a few days ago a ks16s as my first euc . But now I'm concern about the weight I'm 216 lbs so hopefully Is not to much for a 16inch wheel.
Easy buy the one that fits your budget. If you have an unlimited budget buy the one with biggest battery ( 1500+ Watthours) and powerful motor (2000+ watt)
I'm 5' 10", I weigh 240 lbs, athletic muscular build like a running back. It's genetics so I will always be heavy for my height. Should I go for a 16 inch or a 18 inch wheel? I want to buy the best, money isn't a issue for me. I would love hear your advice.
I ve choosen 16s, but I kinda regret this. I learned to ride very quick in comparison to others (3 hours) and the wheel has been tilting back almost all the time, even tho I disabled the speed limit it still tilted me back very soon. And somtime I could ride past 35 kmh and it wouldnt tilt me back very buggy system.
I've been back in forth with KS 16S or KS 18XL as my first wheel. I still cannot decide. It doesn't seems like the 18" inch as hard to ride and it seems safer imo although I heard smaller wheels are more "fun".
EUC.nyc and EUCO. I watched a video where they reviewed the V8F, and mentioned having a storefront. I suggest contacting them. I found one in NY (can’t remember which) and they would only rent to people with experience. However, if you purchased, they’d provide lessons.
Hello Jimmy been watching some of your video’s .. I’m 65 (200 pounds and 6’ tall) ... and thinking that the inmotion V8F might be a good choice for me .. I’m laid back and I just want to do some paved or groomed paths ... it’s got the 16 inch wheel and it’s 2 inch + wide ... I’d love to find a used one but .... and hopefully a cover comes with it ... what do you think ??
I'm looking at the Ks 16s. It's in my price range for a beginner but im curious. Is this a good choice for me? I'm 5'6 and 243 lbs. Not amall at all. You this can handle my weight or should i look for a different one? Thank you for your time.
I have ninebots2 still learning, she was pretty not anymore she all scratch up. I think I can run it but I can't because it keeps tilting dwn I try to lean forward but it doesn't wk,so I have to jump off,meh maybe ill get kingsong s14.do they tilt back all the time??
