In episode 7 of Clay Shooter TV, Simon O’Leary looks at how to choose your shotgun and cartridge combination, with a focus on beginners. If you are just getting into the sport of clay shooting or have recently been granted a shotgun license and are wondering how to choose your first shotgun, and which cartridges are best for you, this video will provide some solid pointers. Choosing a gun and cartridge combo is a personal thing and specific to you - your wallet, your style, your goals. Allow Simon to guide you through the process.
Drennan Kenderdine has got his hands on a brand new Browning shotgun in the gear section of the show. This month, we have a Browning B725 Sporter Medallion Silver review lined up for you, followed by a review of the Lyalvale Express Supreme Comp cartridge in No.8 shot.
As always, Ben reads the news, where you can catch up on upcoming events and clay shooting news.

Some 12 bore are made in yellow or was. I had some RC in 35g 5s that were yellow not too many years ago. I may even still have some.

The problem when you’d mg size 6ft 7 you can’t buy a gun off the shelf that fits I hate shooting average fitting gun for now i mainly shoot semi autos that have been adjusted to fit the best I can.

Brilliant video very educational, can anyone phone Hownhall and book some lessons?. I'm looking at some clay/skeet lessons, I've got my own gun but I bought it 35 years ago when I was a bit more fitter it's a bit heavy so I need a lighter gun. Many thanks Ron

My 14 year old daughter is looking to start clay shooting, what would you recommend a 410 or 20 gauge?

Great video. I’ve heard plenty of shooters claim a particular brand of cartridge works best for their gun… do you think there’s any substance to the notion or is it a bit of voodoo?

I have personally shot a pretty good number of different brands and loads on paper. I will say there are significant differences. With a particular gun you generally will find a standout or two at the top and the bottom end of performance then a bunch that perform similarly in the middle. Its actually suprising to me how much better certain shells shoot than others when your mind tells you there shouldn’t be much difference. But in general the best shell in your gun is gonna be pretty dang good in mine too maybe not the best but good.
