How to clean a Bosch Tassimo coffee machine. This step by step guide shows how to clean and descale a Bosch Tassimo coffee machine. This video shows how to use citric acid to clean a Bosch Tassimo coffee machine. Descaling tablets can also be used (add 2 tablets to the water tank instead of the citric acid) but citric acid works well and is much cheaper. Descaling your coffee machine should extend its life and will make your coffee taste better.

(EDIT: This did 100% fix my machine. Thanks, Ted!) My tassimo machine just mildly exploded, overpouring like a maniac. Someone suggested "err... ...when did you clean it last...?" This video was incredibly well explained, detailed and presented. Especially the citric acid, because descaling tablets are £8 for 4, while a big box of citric acid is just a fiver? That's VERY useful info, indeed! - Cheers, Ted. Great video!

When I clean my tassimo, I clean it at night by soaking all removable pieces, including water tank, in steradent over night then wash everything well in the morning. Everything ends up sparkling clean and ready for use. I also keep a soft dry shaving brush for getting rid of coffee grounds around bar code reader.

My daughter has given one of these to me - lovely jubbly - but oh so temperamental! Reviews on Amazon ..man said he bought set of brushes for funnel part? Very hard water here too - even the dog refused it. Great to have all your info though, thank you 😊

Thank you, your video is really informative. Just what I was looking for. 👍🏻 I’ve had my machine 18 months and it’s never been cleaned!!! My problem is that the service disc has disappeared. Can I flush through a used pod a few times and use that instead?

Thanks for the great feedback Rebecca 🙂 I've not tried using a used pod as the descaling cycle is much longer than the normal cycle. I got my own Bosch Vivy 2 Tassimo Coffee machine that use spring filter water instead using tap water that build like limestone that I never used in the machine and descaling every 3 months/year?

@alexwright2761 Thanks for commenting Alex. The amount of limescale will depend on the hardness of your water supply. It depends on the rock that the water runs through (think of the stalactites in the caves in limestone areas like the Yorkshire Dales). It sounds like you are lucky enough to have a soft water supply 😀

I think it stops the water flow if the level is too low. You don't have to remove it when cleaning the machine

I find an old toothbrush works better to clean out the pod area of the Bosch. Great advice on the citric acid. Can this be purchased at the local drug store or chemist?

I like the toothbrush idea, thanks 👍. I've never tried to buy citric acid from a drugstore/pharmacist but have seen it in discount stores (Home & Bargain) in the UK. Personally, I find it easier to order citric acid online from amazon or ebay.

As far as I am aware, Asda are normally the cheapest (3 packs of 16 for £11).

Helpful video but how the hell does someone get a tassimo machine that filthy? I've had mine nearly a year and 2 people use it and it's never looked like that with coffee grounds all over it!
