I just wanted to thank you for making this extremely helpful and informative video. My cub cadet mower wouldn't start. Your video guided me in the process of removing and cleaning the carburetor. That did the trick and my mower fired right up. You helped save my family and I lots of money. Bless you, sir!
From your accent and the lush greenery I surmise that you are in New England. Since 2 years ago I now add fuel line cleaner to the gas can I keep mower gas in, and for winter storage I will add Stabil. Another thing I do is to pull my mowers, about once a month or so, and run them for a good five minutes then put them back away. Like many of us I have had my fill of first of the season no-starts and then having to drain old gas and refill with new. I am in Boulder, CO and so have access to alcohol free gas at a Murphy's station which should be cheaper than buying it by the quart the way I have seen at WalMart and the home stores. I like your slow, clear and concise filming of what you did. I am working on a neighbor's Cub Cadet 700 e electric start all wheel drive walk behind 196 cc mower and I have done the carb clean out much like you did and even used compressed air. Still no dice. Gimme a good old Briggs and Stratton anyday over this poorly thought out schitt !
You are right on as to my location. I am 50 miles southeast of Boston, about 1/2 way between Boston and Cape cod. Two years ago, I drove down south to Florida. I noticed along the way lots of ethanol free pumps but nothing around here. Someone told me I might find it at boat marinas on the Cape. Enjoyed very much reading your thoughtful comments. @@richardspaulding5035 ~ Thank you, Rich. I am from Western NY, right outside Buffalo, currently in Boulder, CO. Yeah, the Ethanol free gas can be hard to find. I am aware that Av gas contains lead but the marina may have the lead and ethanol free stuff. I have seen what is considered the best end of season procedure of running mowers until they are dry. I would put some Stabil in the gas so that any left over residue will contain that. I appreciate your reply. Gordon
You did a great job on it. I have the Cub Cadet Lawnmower the engine is just like your's. I have had mine for 8 years and never had a problem with it until this year do I tore into it and did the same as it turned out mind had water in it. I took a class back when I was in school many many years ago I got all A in my class the teacher made me re take the test because he thought I cheated and he watched me and again I made an A again he got pissed for more than one reason. Lol I have always liked to work on small engines my dad was going to throw away a good mower I asked him if I could fixed it before he did that luckily he gave me a shot at it 😊 and I did fix it. We need people like you to show how its done. I would love to do one myself but can't because I have a speech problem and a lot of people don't or can't understand me. I'm going to be 68 soon here. I lost my wife when she was only 59. I miss her a lot. Then 4 years later I met another woman and lost her to death as well she was 64. Life goes on but it's hard for some of us. I like to watch videos on fixing things. I have a lot of funny things about things I have fixed. Hope you are feeling good now days.

I got those at Harbor Freight. I originally purchased two as a pair. I liked them so much I went out a few weeks later and got two more. Going on 4 years now with no issues, none of them leak or sink.
Welcome to my channel, glad the video was helpful. Thanks for the kind words, I think it is that dam ethanol that is gumming things up. I purchased a couple of cans of ethanol free gas for my small motors. It is a little pricy, but I do not use very much of it.
Well done apart from the nonsensical removal of the spark plug boot.Please explain what could possibly have caused the engine to start without the starter coil and/or fuel supply
Force of habit. Safety always, YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT! When working on a small engine always remove the plug wire NO MATER WHAT. When working on an automobile always remove the negative battery terminal NO MATER WHAT, When working on electrical circuit always test the circuit even though you know you tripped the breakers NO MATER WHAT. You should be ASHAMED OF YOURSELF for asking such a question!
I have the same machine and the same problem. I got mine running by cleaning the totally plugged main jet and it runs now but is still hard to start. I am thinking it is something to do with the automatic choke. It runs fine when I get it started. Thaks for your video, you have done us a great service.
I don't see why not, once you get the filter housing out of the way the jet is facing front and you should be able to get a screwdriver on it. Let me know how it goes for you.
All that hard work and you never removed, or unscrewed the main jet and removed the emulsion tube. The emulsion tubes small side holes transforms gas into vapor, smaller participials, if you would, to burn the fuel more efficiently. I am baffled......
My very good friend, I am aware of what it is and what it does, I did not want waste the time of my nearly 10000 subscribers as is extremely rare that the tube is the issue. The machine now runs great. Perhaps you should post a video showing the correct way to do it, your one and only subscriber might enjoy it!
13:30 That metering jet must be unscrewed and cleaned. Every hole as should be poked and then carb cleaner shot both directions. Critical information not included.
