A disposable mascara brush (eye lash brush) is really useful for cleaning the holes and slots of the plastic comb. An alternative to surgical spirit is warm water with a splash of white vinegar. Cheers.

Interesting timing of upload. I discovered my Harp was filthy when I raced out to do the "Don't worry be Happy" video. Found half my draw notes were missing. Lol. So I had to use your audio. ( Aside tip:- I found purchasing a genuine "Babies" toothbrush ensured you got a soft bristled brush that doesn't harm your reeds.)

Surgical spirits are called rubbing alcohol here in America. Personally I'll stick to using lemon juice.

Nice video - but the ugly residue on the reedplates is left on... I use Vinegar With/Out Lemon juice to bring back the shiny, then pass through quick bath of warm dish soap water and its like new. If the screws are rusty, 15 sec dip in vinegar and they return to shiny metal

Hi Sir great videos. very informative. i have a old marine hohner marine band 1896, that i dearly love! i noticed as it wasnt cleaned or used for a few years. As I view it from the front,there is nails heads in it and it is some notable rust on all 10 of the heads, I cannot really take it apart as it has nails holding the cover plates on and holding it togather. it is made out of wood , is it ok to use vinegar quickly on each of these rusted heads and run it underneath the hot water tap with dish detergent at home sink and let it dry out immediately?? Or what would you recommend me to do to Sterilize it and clean it also? thanking you in advance!! 100-100

Can i just spray some spirit into the holes

I was wondering how tight should I screw the two holes that hold the plates of my harmonica together? Should I tighten the screws all the way until they can't turn any more? Or if I should leave them a bit loose? Please help

How about just spray white vinegar on the harmonica and wipe it with a tissue paper after using it each time? Open the harmonica to do further cleaning once every few weeks. Can someone make a comment on this method?

i have an 1920s harp which probably hasn't been used or cleaned for the last 50 years do you suppose that cleanup would be enough or rust would have accumulated and what to do with that? (don't know yet if it has rust because the screw is stuck and havn't been able to open it yet)
