Today I cover how to clean a thermal receipt printer print head in minutes. I use a POS-X brand thermal receipt printer in this video, but any direct thermal receipt printer for a pos system will use the same procedure.
Basically, the thermal receipt print head gets dirty and needs a cleaning. Just grab some rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab and clean the printer's print head. That's all there is to it. Your receipt printer should be clean and printing like new!

Thanks for you easy to follow no BS instructions. I have an old Squirrel Epson TM-T90. I am wondering if vinegar would clean it as well?

That's a good question. I believe that method should only be used for inkjet cartridges or cartridge housings for inkjet printers. Try at your own risk, my quick research did not yield any information regarding the use of vinegar on thermal print heads. We'd love to know if you find otherwise!

@@lothillsolutions Thanks for the reply. I have an aversion to using toxic rubbing alcohol. I think I will clean the printer print heads with Smirnoff 100 instead. Now how about the paper roller? My Manuel says to clean it every 3 months but not with what.

Hello! I have a Label Range LP620 And got it from Amazon! Its been replaced thankfully BUT it so happens that it’s misprinting again after I had fixed it. And I find it weird that on my colored 6x4 label stickers it prints way too light compared to the white label sticker’s and you can see the difference. On white it’s definitely darker and just how I like it opposed to the colored label sticker (lavender). Would the cleaning Apply just the same?

I'm not familiar with that device. I would reach out to the manufacturer for cleaning instruction on that device. You could also check the printer driver in Windows to see if there is a darkness setting. If that works, you could install the printer driver again rename it to note that its for the lavender labels and make the darkness change.

using Clover Flex Thermal handheld credit card & its a pain to clean the print head as its very small and tight. Any idea's where to get a replacement print head??

I would start with Clover tech support. I assume you already did a search online by model number to see if there is a replacement.

Try turning the roll of paper around. It matters which way the paper sits in the printer.

why dont you show before and after prints to show, ive seen some really bad print even missing lines, show your work just dont talk about it. SHOW IT!!

Thank you for reaching out. Showing a print wouldn’t have helped in this case. My printer wasn’t dirty or printing badly so there was nothing to show. If anyone has examples of bad prints and how this video or another cleaning technique has helped we love to see them.
