Grunge brush sells an all aluminum version brush and the bristles are replaceable. Highly recommended it over the plastic ones. Also look into belray chain lube. Its more of a wax that doesnt attract as much grime
Dude I thought that was the way to go over the cheap plastic bs. People kept telling me "oh it damages the bearings" or whatever. The bristles?? Nah lmao
Do not like chain cleaner it’s super silky and leaves the tires slick, just use some kerosene or a little bit of brake cleaner on a dirty shop rag and wipe the chain really good along with the grunge brush
nah this motul chain cleaning kit is nice. Only thing is the lube overspray might be slick on tires because it adheres so damn well. I can tell if my chain is lubed still by the tacky feel when i touch my fingers tips on it. He has a solid spray method that would prevent this though
@@steve00alt70 - gear oil is cheper - its thicker and sticks better - its what most manufacturers actually recommend to use on the chain - easier to apply than a spray can that gets everywhere especially the risk of it getting on ur brake disks and pads.
Great if you want most of that oil on your wheel 👌 Don't be such a tight ass, chain lube is not that expensive and is designed to actually stay on the chain 🤷♂️
Pal save yourself a buck, get a can of brake clean it doesn’t damage the O-rings it’s been tested. If you read the instructions on the Motul chain lube, it should only be applied to the internal rollers. I daily a cbr-1000 and you’ll find if you apply lube as seen in the video you’ll attract lots of gunk into your chain. Rock on 🤙🏽
☝️ you been there done that lol, kerosene has been working well for me and great price compared to the motul cans from cycle gear. Then I use an air compressor sprayer to blow in between the rollers (downward) till dry, then I lube with motul like you described 🤙
I used kerosene, was told its petrol based damages O rings, so used white spitit but seemed a bit weak? So used this can and eats a whole can. Will try brakeclean!!
I would not use any water on your chain like that or down in the wheel bearings unless you're using compressed air to dry. It can get inside the O-rings and bearings. The Motul cleaning kit is awesome stuff. Use chain cleaner, scrub it, wipe off with rag and then lube. Done
I was thinking the same thing and was gonna ask should the chain be that tight with little to no slack, then again what if it’s manufactured to be that way?
Use less cleaner, I put it on the stand , spray some on the chain like spray paint, move it, do it till you get the whole chain wet, put the bike in gear and start it, and let the bike do the work with the brush. Same thing with lube, put it in gear and let it run and just spray the lube. You don’t need to soak the chain, a little goes a long way, make sure you clean your sprockets to
Lube EVERY ride with Fluid Film or an off road chain lube. A bit messy around front sprocket, but won't get the guck buildup and won't need cleaning. Penetrates and lubricates, chains last 40 thousand km on ZX-10.
Maxima chain cleaner actually listed naptha-petroleum as an ingredient on the back of the can... Take that as what you will if you've ever used naptha-petroleum to clean parts...
I use pray head to clean the chain and the old engine oil to lube my Honda. As a matter of fact it out last any bike using those cleaner and special lube
I had my tubes hanging down exactly like yours do. You can push them up into the bike some to get rid of them or you can cut off a couple inches from the bottom without messing up anything on the bike.
I let the brush into a plastic ice cream case, that is filled with a mix of APC with water. Or… I spray with brake cleaner on it when I want to… I am not sure these are the best ways, if anyone has a better idea let me know.
I swear this bike I bought requires so much damn damn maintenance and money. Think I’m just gonna sell it. 2019 Kawasaki versys 1000 Don’t have time or energy for all this sht. Or money to be just throwing away. paid somebody to tighten the chain. It’s too damn tight! I wrote it for about 10 miles. Hopefully I didn’t cause permanent damage. I swear to God this is such a damn headache!
Yep bro I need your help. I live in Kissimmee need to get you advice on oil leak and I just got my bike from dealer shit for just tire changing and new fork seals and all of a sudden when I’m just riding my bike it’s over heating and has a oil leak shit was scary but I’m ok. What can I do ?
The million $ question is how to prevent over oil so that I don't have to wash again so that I don't have to lube again so that I don't have to wash again so that I don't have to lube againso that I don't have to wash again so that I don't have to lube again ....
Well that's an easy way to kill your chain, wasting new chain+sprockets worth on chain cleaners and lube. Instead of this approach you're much better off not doing anything to chain at all, except cleaning with diesel fuel once in a while, saving up the money, and replacing it sooner. And you save yourself hella lot of effort on top of that.
water is poison for your chain…. and that is exactly why you lubricate a chain to keep water away from the O/X-rings in the chain, so that no water can penetrate there and wash out the internal lubrication... And of course also against rust and for a smooth running
This is the most backwards procedure I’ve ever seen. We spray and brush at the same time to remove gunk and then a quick spray for rinsing. Or just dip a brush in kerosene and brush on it and then spray kerosene to rinse and wipe it off. Or use brake cleaner and wipe the chain section down with a cloth. But you however sprayed a shit loads of chain cleaner and when the solvent already evaporated off, only then you starts brushing on a dry chain. Like wtf? What is that plastic bristle is going to do on a already dried up chain? Might as well just get a bucket of soap and brush it all and wash it off with water since the beginning than waste half a can of chain cleaner and gain nothing from it. Not to mention the half of can of chain lube 😂 you should have buy a 5L jug of 80w-90 gear oil and just dump it all on the chain, pour it on your motorcycle, gas tank, radiator, tires, brake disc too for maximum lubrication.
@@Chandrashekhar-xr8ni possibly, I don’t handle diesel ever. I just know that kerosene is $10 per gallon at my home depot and chain cleaned is about $18-$19 for 20ounces of motul. And the kerosene works better
@@Chandrashekhar-xr8ni most manufacturers tell you to use kerosene. It's extremely well at decreasing without affecting the sealed rings.. I think fortnine did a video on that showing how other things to grade the rubber
Kerosene will remove the internal grease behind the o rings. Would not reccomend. General degreaser is the cheapest best way to clean it in my opinion.
@@nathanhampf5400 kero does a great job, doesn't damage the O rings, it's cheaper, & I spray lube after I've cleaned the chain. I also have a Scottoiler system that oils my chain as I ride. Works off engine vacuum & has a control regulator for the drip feed oiler. Google search it, definitely recommend it.
