This video shows you how to clean the Dyson V8 Absolute / Animal / Fluffy / Total Clean cordless vacuum cleaner. To order a new filter visit here :amzn.to/2zjKhVK
No matter how many times I need to clean the dyson I always forget the correct order and have to watch your video again. It is very clear and easy to understand.
One little tip I like to give to Dyson owners is to empty the bin after each use, close the bin back up and then turn on the max power mode and pull the trigger for a few seconds. That way it uses the high power mode to extract more dirt into the bin at which point you can empty it again which keeps the entire machine cleaner in between each use.
Very helpfull, thnx! I also found out that after (the second time) you emptied the bin and the bin is still open, you can firmly 'tik' the flat bottom side of the dyson a few times on the edge of the trashcan. That way you can see a lot of very fine dust and dirt falling out of the 'center ring' (the ring in the middle of the bin, which is cleaned by a paint brush in this video). I hope that my explanation makes any sense🙈 I found myself having a hard time to translate this from Dutch to English haha😅
This is the second Dyson cordless for which you have walked me through the disassembly and cleaning. While Dyson succeeds with the suction part of their vacuums, they really fail on the design of the cheap plastic parts that all seem to be a little "fiddly." Thanks from New York City!
Thankyou - have been guided by your video to clean my wonderful Dyson stick vac - todays cleaning now completed and am just waiting for the filter to dry out before getting into vaccuming once again...cheers and again thanks.
Great video. Especially appreciated keeping the camera on the parts not yourself as many do! And getting right to the point without useless small talk first.
I have had a V8 for 5 years or so and it works great. The one thing I do differently is that I use my air compressor to blow all the dirt out of the unit once dismantled. I also have a V6 and just purchased the Outsize Absolute plus. I highly recommend the air compressor approach in lieu of the paint brush method.
To be honest, I have had this vacuum cleaner for several years and really never cleaned like this. Today is the day. Thanks for this clear explanation.
My V8 has been lying in the kitchen waiting to be reassembled after cleaning 3 weeks ago. I didn't want to face not being able to put it together again. THANK YOU, the best instructions I have come across for practical info. It reminded me that I am missing the larger rubber seal so now to hunt for that.
Great job explaining how to do this I watched another one and she was wrong and it wouldn’t come apart. I did buy a few replacement filters when I purchased my Dyson. I had to vacuum spilled baking soda so everything was a mess. Thanks to you all is clean now and drying outside.
Just adding to the other users who found this helpful. Note I did use water to clean my filters and had to wait quite a bit for it to dry out. In my case I'd vacuumed ditumaceous earth that fell on the floor and that really clogged all filters. Even with the water and some anxious moments, it did work after a long period of drying and putting on max for a 30 seconds to force the filtration (after having been as dry as I could get it).
Thanks for the video. For cleaning the metal screen and cyclone air piece (6:17), if you have an air compressor it can do wonders for getting fine dust out (outside!). This is especially helpful if you've been using the vacuum on drywall or plaster dust, and it's amazing how much gets trapped in this piece.
@@deenasteinberg9800 possibly. If it has a tank and you can use a spray nozzle (instead of a tire valve adapter) then it should be doable. If no tank and low flow rate (like a tire pump) then no.
Personally I use a hair dryer with a cold function. My compressor or even a can of compressed air will do a better, more focused job but my hair dryer is easier to setup and does a good enough job.
Absolute best video for cleaning the V8 and no annoying music. I've only had my Dyson for one day and have already had to refer to this a couple times. Thank you for posting.
Excellent video thank you! Looks so easy with a new Dyson - not like mine that was clogged up with a sticky piece of toffy... Good as new now though! I used a damp cloth to wipe away the sticky built up dirt and a cool hairdryer to dry all the parts completely.
Shouldn't you be doing this outdoors or near at least a strong HEPA? I guess it depends what you suck up but with using mine in an are a solder often, I'd be getting a nice lead dusting everywhere. I just use computer duster or an air compressor to get the dust out, which is located in the garage and has an air filter but a fan blowing out from where you're working is a good enough solution. Have to clean the main cyclone area every week or so, same with the dyson cinetic big ball. Constant caking of dust. No idea why they would suggest the V8 and cinetic are more hygenic to empty, my old dysons (original root 6, first handheld, and dc48 animal) didn't have this level of dust caking and they are lower powered. Off topic but the cinetic big ball comes with a stupidly short hose that makes it almost unusable for anything above shoulder height as you run out of hose. Luckily support sent me pretty much every accessory for free along with a 2nd hose for both the cinetic big ball (actually 2 hoses, and it came with one) so I was able to combine 2 hoses for the big ball together after taking off the part that clips to the tank on one end and the rotating part where the hose attaches to the accessory. Connect those two parts together and instantly it becomes 100x more useful. The left over socket where accessories from the big ball attached that was removed for the double hose was then press fit onto the extra V8 hose and now it can use any accessory (v8 hose is smaller diameter.) Had no isses with these modifications and using the bigger tools on the v8 is great! Should be an option in the store. Customer Service sure gives away accessories like crazy if not satisfied with the product. Hundreds of dollars worth of them and parts (including 2nd v8 canister) and I didn't ask for any of them. Pays to buy from Dyson direct.
I had an issue with the cyclone assembly (yeah I looked it up) no longer freely sliding in the bin after cleaning. I'm guessing the bin gasket and the silver metal mesh are both lightly coated with a lubricate from the factory which cleaning removed. I brushed some wd-40 on both with a tissue. Problem solved. Great video. Thanks
I know you said you don't recommend it, but I always wash the cyclone chambers. Amount of gunk that comes out pretty much speaks for itself and no nasty smells after that. However I do let it dry for a at least 3-4days to a week and keep it somewhere warm to dry up and turn it around etc to ensure it is fully dry. Done it tons of times on my V8 and so far so good :).
Good to know. I freaked out as I cleaned all of it except the handle portion. I took out my Dyson blow dryer and blew it dry as I thought I'd done the wrong thing!
thanks a lot, your video helped me clean my dyson.. I was using it since 2 years and had never cleaned it. Lately it started giving foul odor and I was thinking of replacing it with newer version. After cleaning it like you instructed, the odor is gone and the suction has improved. Thank you!
Great for picking up small debris's and dust, but don't get anything wet in there. That makes it very difficult to clean and the machine starts to smell. But as a dry, quick run around it is very good.
I know this is an old video, but this was SO SO helpful that I had to comment a thank you! My ADHD brain really doesn't do well with directions but this was easy peasy!
Thank you so much you have just literally made my day I thought it was gone for good I didn't realise that you can get into it so much so you can give it a good clean I'm going to watch u again tomorrow and I'm going to give it a good clean for the new year it pays at the end of the day
Just did this, vac is like new, smells great with the use of a water free air wick spray 'Pure', used an artist paint brush for all the dirt removal and as used no water I could put it back together straight away. 😊
I have repurposed a cat's toothbrush (which he refused to use) to reach inside and clean out the middle. It pulled out a lot of fine dirt. Thanks for a great video. Also thanks to your similar video on cleaning the V6, I was able to get a pretty good price for it on E-bay when I graduated to the V8.
I use the air compressor and blow it through to rid dust, takes 1 minute. I find it has to be done quite regularly. Filters have to be washed regularly aswell.
7:25 I recommend washing this out with soapy warm water. I do this on all my dyson models. Shake out any left over water and leave it to dry out. I also blow out the motor 2:25 with air which stores a lot of dust
I have a question about blowing out the motor with air: wouldn't that risk harming the motor? It seems you'd be blowing dust into the motor which can't be good. What kind if tiny device sucks out the dust from small spaces rather than blowing it out?
The very BEST tutorial for cleaning a Dyson Vac! Only additional tip of assistance? ... is a small "pancake " air compressor and a dust mask make very quick and complete work of what a brush can do for you! 😊
Thanks for this video. I particularly like how to dismantle the inner core to clean...it has frustrated me not being able to remove the dust in this section...after time the build it gets smelly!
Thank you so much! We used our Dyson to catch a roach one night and it got stuck inside the filter column. Thanks to you we managed to get rid of it. 😉
My mistake was not doing this sooner! It started stuttering, similar to when it's sucking on a solid surface so I found this video and did it. Didn't notice that it had lost sucking power - now it's louder and def improved sucking power. Dried it for around 24 hours but also live in a dry climate.
1st: Thank you so much for presenting this video on-line. I do not recall any directions from Dyson, in their booklet that came with the machine. The video is very professional and to the point. 2nd: I am not making this comment concerning Dan's comment, so please do not misunderstand me. Dan said, "Kind of stupid that Dyson designed this so you can't clean the most dirty part of the vacuum, the part above the canister." I AGREE, 100%! Every Fall, (back in the day), when the weather cooled, I would take all seven of my $30.00 room-floor-fans and place them in my driveway. I had a hot water valve that I rigged up so that I could have any temp of water going into a garden hose. I would set the temp around 190F (like a cup of coffee) and hose all over the fans, blades, motor, cords, etc., to make sure I got the dust out. Some times, I would have to do a small disassembly of the blade guard, and use a towel to clean the grit out. I then left them out overnight (on the back deck so nobody could see/steal them). I then took them inside, where they stayed in a storage room for six months, before I pulled them out to use again. Now, I never knew how long it took for everything to dry, and should anything rust, I could repair/replace as needed (not much money). Nothing ever rusted and they all worked as expected for years (my nephew wanted them when I moved and I never heard about them since. I never shared my story about them, to him, either). Now, if I could find a V8 Dyson at a yard sale or flea market at a very, very low price, I would do the same thing. But, I am an old school guy. So, I would take it apart, hose out that part above the cannister, keep it in a warm place for three months, and then test it, to see if it worked (I'd also be concerned with any copper wires or lubrication points, and if it worked, I would continue with the hosing and drying for two months, then one month, and then stop at two weeks. Two weeks, and if it still worked, I would be satisfied. I am just sharing my thoughts, here. Remember, these machines originally cost around $800.00. So I would not try this on my main vacuum. Also remember, what would happen if it was wet! Just sharing my life experiences and my thoughts. After all, I really love my Dyson. Why? Because it really, truly, sucks!
Thanks for the information on how to clean Dyson V8. One extra tip, is to unclipped the blue filter and wash the inside of the filter. There will be dirt and dust inside the blue filter.
Great video, any tips... I have changed battery after thinking i needed too, it worked at first, but now has no power, no charge, no lights....I have tried the holding down trigger for 20secs hack I read to no avail..?? Thank!
Hi there, Nice how to video Don't know if important, but the manual says to clean with cold water.🤔 To dismount the accessories, the screws are designed to open with a simple coin😉 Just wanted to share, hope you don't mind
when you put the not fluffy head back together I have to say you missed an important step. the blue roll with the black bristles comes out and you slide it back in but there is a large grey cap on teh side that has the coin lock and unlock well that coin pops off and there is a TON of dust behind it that can be brushed out.
Yes, even though some of the cleaning videos are several years old, they are still relevant and hopefully helping people to maintain and keep the older Dyson vacuums going.
yes, twominutetip is right it is a Favulus video my V8 is still in the box. can't wait to use it, used to Love OREC; so exciting about Dyson. thank you
Hey thanks for uploading this. There’s one thing I need to point out. The transparent bin may look like just a plastic part but it has electronics in the grey plastic and water can get inside if you rinse it. It’s the circuit that gives power to the motor of the extension head so be careful. The cyclone is the one that can be rinsed but difficult to dry.
I know this is an old comment but I did rinse this part and I'm concerned I may have gotten water on the inside or near the electronics. I'm letting it dry overnight, but are there any other precautions I should take so this doesn't ruin the vacuum when I reattach?
@@atxbee let it dry thoroughly overnight and it worked fine the next day. We still have the vacuum and use it almost daily, so I'd say it ended up fine!
Bro I know this is an old video but you really helped me out today. I was actually gonna buy a new one because mine was so beat up. I had no idea it came apart like that. Game changer. It works like new. Liked and subscribed bro. You made a difference today.
Absolutely love you cleaning and maintenance video HOWEVER. COULD you please tell me why the little motor at the back near the handle runs hot. and at times it makes a screaming noise. Please. HELP. many thanks Donna
It shouldn't get that hot, i assume the filters are clean? Also it def shouldn't make the screaming noise, how old is the vacuum? If its under 2 years old, i would contact Dyson as they should be able to sort it under the warranty.
If you want to take it a step further and have a hair dryer with a cold mode (or an air compressor) you can give everything a quick blast of air on a regular basis to stop dust and grime from caking up inside. Just make sure you only use the cold mode so you don't accidentally toast any internal components.
