We take a look at the Dyson V8 Absolute cordless vacuum cleaner and discuss the many things we love about the machine. See it on Amazon: amzn.to/2ENSMgl
Read our written review: vacuum-cleaner...
In this Dyson vacuum review video we discuss the increased run time, the weight, the HEPA filtration system, the hygienic emptying system, the noise level, the power, the cleaning ability and much more. We also highlight instances where the V8 Absolute is an improvement over the V6 Absolute.
I would also like to point out that I make every effort to be unbiased in my videos. If there is something about a product I do not like - I will let you know!

This man can give solid and impeccable reviews. You should totally get paid by Dyson for such a wonderful review. My wife asked me to buy her one but if i did not see this video, i don't think i would have been convinced to buy it! Your review was very clear, medium paced and to the point. Thanks!

Does anyone know if this can be used while being charged? I feel kinda stupid for asking this because i would guess not. But since i paid around $600 for this, i thought there may be a way to do that.

Hi Rustie. When the unit is plugged in and charging it will not run. We've tried it. If there is a workaround to allow the unit to charge while operating we don't know of it (would be interesting though).

the v8 is awesome! i initially thought i'd use it for smaller jobs and continue to use an older full size corded dyson (10yrs running strong with heavy daily use, i even beat on it and vacuum the basement ) for most of the house, but was so impressed how well the v8 cleaned the living room carpet the first time i used it i just kept going! the short brush head was great on the furniture and cat towers also. i only used the turbo mode to play with it so the regular mode seems to have plenty of suction power. i agree with some of the comments dyson should make a 2nd battery option for people with bigger houses..but..from the dust container size i don't think this was designed to be a "whole house or big house" vacuum from the get go. very lightweight, comfortable in the hand and easily glides under the bed and places other vacuums can't get to. i've become a "vacuum snob" since my first dyson and def recommend their products...this is one of those instances u get what u pay for, and think the steep price is justified with performance.

One thing that wasn't demonstrated was fully pulling the canister off the V6. It took me a while to figure out that I don't have to ever dig my finger in to pull out fluff if I just pop off the canister all the way to begin with each time. It's not that hard to pull it off and pop it back on every time. When you pull down on the red release and the bottom opens up to release most of the dust, you just pull the canister to the side with your other hand and it comes right off.

After reading every review I could find and every comment and reply here I purchased the V8 with silver wand on the Dyson chat the other night for a great savings over the other wand colors. I got 4 extra tools including the new adapter which enables the use of my V6 cordless and 5 year old animal canister tools with the V8, which incidentally has been available in the UK for some time now. Today I received my new V8, unpacked it, charged it and vacuumed an area rug vacuumed just yesterday with my 2 year old V6 and was amazed at the amount of dust & dirt the V8 picked up! It is so much quieter and easy to empty as well and I am thrilled with it.

Bought a Dyson v8 as my apartment is small so needed something compact instead of the big ball Dyson. It's great. Good suction, love that I'm able to hang it up out of the way. Only downside it is very expensive!! It was 350euro. Hope it lasts. I wonder what the v11 is like. Can't be much difference. Except price.

Thanks for the video. We just unboxed our Dyson Absolute and need to fully charge it first. What surprised me was the manual. It's mostly pictures and symbols so we're wondering which is for carpet, which for bare floor. So your video cleared that up almost right away. Dyson is having $100.00 off right now and if you buy at a particular nationwide store that nets you an additional 20%off. So, what your 2nd video points out in dislikes will seem like nothing to me after years of trying to maneuver an old model Dyson in some pretty tight areas. Thanks again for your very informative video. I'm sure I'll appreciate my new Dyson Absolute.

I just ordered one and am really excited about receiving it! I have a 550 sq/ft 2/1 condo with carpeted bedrooms, a tile bathroom, and laminate wood flooring in my living room/kitchen and I feel like this will be the perfect vacuum for my little place. Also, I have two cats, so I'm REALLY excited about the HEPA filter and really just being able to get a handle on never-ending the cat hair issue. My previous vacuum was a Shark upright and it did a good job, but it was kind of a pain to use when I wanted to use the handheld portion of it (and obviously it wasn't battery operated), so I think a high-powered stick vacuum will do me well. Thanks for the great vid!

I noticed that a lot of the demos for the soft roller head are with fairly large debris. Is it necessary to use the soft head on small debris on bare floors like tile? Thanks.
@VacuumAdvisor
@VacuumAdvisor 5 лет назад
Hi Kimber. As you've mentioned, the soft roller cleaner head outperforms the direct drive cleaner head on bare floors when you are dealing with larger debris. In this instance, the direct drive cleaner head has a tendency to push the larger debris around. When you are dealing with smaller debris the direct drive cleaner head does not push the debris around but it does cause some scatter (again we are talking about bare floors here). There is almost no scatter when using the soft roller cleaner head on smaller debris. So it is not necessary to use the soft roller cleaner head on small debris BUT it will do a better job than the direct drive cleaner head. I hope that is clear and it helps.

WoW. In the UK this thing is £549.99. I know you can shop around and reduce this slightly, but, good grief that's a hell of a lot of money for an average run time realistically of 25 mins. The fact that they have not incorporated a battery system like the Shark one for this kind of money is a massive fail in my eyes. It should have a second battery to swap out via a clip, not screws just as we can for a cordless drill for example. We live in a three storey town house, so this thing would be useless unless you want to clean over two days!

I used to have a V6 and my only problem with it was it didn't pick up large debris on hard floors. If there were leaves on the floor the brush would chop them up in little pieces and fling them around, instead of sucking them up! Is this problem solved with the new "fluffy" hard floor brush?
@VacuumAdvisor
@VacuumAdvisor 6 лет назад
Hi Bridey. We find that the soft roller brush limits scattering and is capable of picking up larger debris on hard surfaces (when compared to the direct drive cleaner head).

Hello. We planned to buy the Dyson v8 absolute but I was asking myself a question. Is the Dyson big ball cinetic much more powerful? Of course on paper it is, but in practice, is it so to such a point, to do without a sweeper wireless?
@VacuumAdvisor
@VacuumAdvisor 6 лет назад
Hi Mario. We've done a review of the Big Ball Cinetic - you may want to check it out. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--6abOtIOsqk.html A vacuum like the cinetic is going to do a better job than the V8. But the cinetic is large and heavy. How much better and is it worth the trade-off depends on a lot of things.

i have the Animal version, same thing but less head attachments. It sucks up long hair fine and it doesn't get tangled on around the wheels or rotating heads. It will however get tangled around the internal drum of the canister. Something I found to be very annoying because when you empty the canister the hair is caught around the drum and you will need to get your hand in there and yank it out! Not ideal.

Thanks for your review. Just two questions 1) how did you run your test? In standard or max mode? 2) how often do you need to go in max mode? Thanks for you answer
@VacuumAdvisor
@VacuumAdvisor 7 лет назад
Hi Enrico: 1) I actually cannot remember, but judging from the sound of the unit I would guess it was on Max Mode. The vacuum is fairly quiet on Standard Mode. 2) When we vacuum around the house we mostly use Standard Mode. We have short pile carpet and tile floors and there is only a small amount of dirt/debris. As a result we usually don't need the additional power.

I really want this vacuum for my main living area/kitchen in my condo. The hard floor tool is what does it for me. I have my Norwex mop (dry and wet head) but with a white fluffy cat I still like to vacuum the floors sometimes cause those tumbleweeds can blow around and also that fine dust can be hard to get). And I hate lugging my Dyson upright from downstairs where I have carpet to do it with the power bar turned off of course. (I have a small split level condo two flights of stairs!).I also have the DC61 handvac but I can easily pass that on if I get this. Thanks for the in depth pros and cons reviews.

Maria Khan it’s pretty good! I did have to replace the battery at the 2.5 year mark. I called Dyson to get a new battery and the rep was trying to convince me to buy a whole new system at a discount. I was “but I don’t need a whole new vacuum just a battery!” Seems silly to toss a whole vacuum just cause of a worn out battery. They have newer systems now with larger canisters and longer battery life.

Yeah, I agree with you. Dyson designers need to do more research in how to improve owner experience. It's too much work to to clean the machine after several uses. Too much clips and screws here and there to disassemble. Couldn't they just make a screw-in canister instead of those awful clips which breaks easily if not careful. They should also make a bigger battery to last at least 15 mins on Max mode. 6 to 7 mins. is not practical. If they cannot put in a bigger battery couldn't they design easy to drop in battery? So at least when the battery lost its' juices you can just drop in a new battery so you can continue cleaning instead of having to wait 3 to 4 hrs charging time to clean again. You would think an innovative company like Dyson would have thought this through but obviously not. It's just mere commonsense which I think Dyson designers are lacking. There are tons of improvement possibilities. So Dyson if you are listening please get back on your drawing table and come up with a better user friendly design please!

Thanks so much for creating your reviews. They're filmed well and you have a good, clear speaking voice. I had one question regarding the soft roller head: do you think it's better on hard floors, compared with using the standard head on hard floors? I ask because I'm trying to decide on getting the V10 Absolute or the V10 Animal. The animal doesn't come with the soft roller head, and Dyson has stated that the standard head is for use on both carpet *and* hard floors. I haven't been able to figure out what the purpose of the soft roller head is! Thanks for any advice you can give!
@VacuumAdvisor
@VacuumAdvisor 6 лет назад
Hey. Just tried both on my tile floor. The soft roller brush does work better. Especially on large debris. The torque drive cleaner head has a tendency to push the larger debris around. You can see the V10 with the soft roller brush working on tile floor in the V10 review on our site (one of the vids shows this). vacuum-cleaner-advisor.com/Dyson-Vacuums/dyson-v10-review.html

If you are interested in a more powerful Dyson cordless you may want to watch these short videos where I discuss the power of the different Dyson cordless vacs: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sK22uUW_PXM.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ixnN_kSndkY.html

Is this the first Dyson cordless with an electric powerhead? Was the powerhead on the V6 series and before powered by air?

Hi Ed. We have The V8 Absolute, the V6 Absolute and the DC59. All have motor driven cleaner heads.

So I was at bed bath and beyond and was about to buy the v8 when thank god unnoticed they changed the tool adapter part. The v8 can't use the 10 other dyson tools I own. Wth. Why does no one mention this 1st thing

You can buy an adapter to use your pre V8 tools, I just got one from Dyson and now I am able to use all of the tools I got with my canister vac & V6 cordless.

No reason you can't use the handheld component (and one or more of the tools) to clean a vehicle interior.

Hi. The V8 and the Cinetic are quite different machines. The Cinetic is corded, much larger and the more powerful of the two.
