You should check out Pondguru on how to properly set up your canister. Mechanical need to be in your bottom tray only to filter the muck before it reaches your biological. Very nice filter though.

@@AngelosFishTanks . Yes, you most definitely need more. The whole of the bottom tray should contain mech media. It's a wonder your bio media works at all when it's clogged up with all that shit.
I like it a lot I been running it now for almost a year. It’ll be a year next month and I have no complaints what so ever. This is like the 3rd time I cleaned in a year
It’s reliable but eventually it will leak on you. I got 2 of them running over a year now. One started very thin trickle & I didn’t even noticed it until paint came off my fish tank stand. Now it’s sits in a bucket, still working but I lost my trust in it
Dear Angelo: I prefer hang-on-the-back filters because they are so easy to maintain. I purchased a canister filter on sale about 15 years ago, but never took it out of the box. Now it is obsolete and I can’t get replacement parts for it. I could set it up for temporary use, but would have to replace it, as soon as the parts fag out. Dear Angelo: I wouldn't call it an impulse buy because I had wanted one for some time. Since I already had filters in all my tanks, I set it aside for future use, having caught it on sale. I didn't realize, at the time, that it was probably on sale because that particular design had been discontinued. I never got around to setting it up, but may use it on my next project. Angelo's Fish Tanks I agree. Good canister filter last for years. I have one for 10 years already & I didn’t buy any parts for it yet. And since it’s an Eheim filter parts will never be a problem. They pricy but truly last very long time
Leslie 09’s Fish Room if your concerned about a loose hose I suggest you add hose clamps. It would be next to impossible to come loose after that.which type do you have? I can help you more if I know the make?
Loved it video tho great job explaining it. I'm seriously considering switching fr HOB AQ 110 to the Sun Sun 3000 w UV when I setup my 100 gal again. Looks very easy to clean ..easier than the AQ 110 which is fairly easy I guess but its is better lol. How do u clean intake outtake tubes tho must get all grimy inside them?
Hi friend if it’s heavily planted and low stock you’ll be ok with a 302. But if you planing on moderately stocking it you would be better of getting the larger one. The same as I have the 303.
Dasun Dasun hi friend it depends on your stocking but it will hold enough media to be sufficient for the tank. You just may need to clean it more often. You would need to put the intake to all the way to the bottom and output at the top but it should work.

Hi friend. If I can remember correctly it’s about 1kg/2.2lb of media can fit per tray according to pondguru. Which turns out to be quite a bit of media.
@@AngelosFishTanks I currently have 3 pounds of Biohome media and could use two more pounds. This is my initial set up and first time using a cannister filter. I have the Polar King 303B knockoff of SunSun.

Wow !!! I am honestly shocked u don't have ammonia issues goin that long between filter cleanings lol. That is one filthy filter but yup its doin its job indeed !! So everyone always uses tank water to wash media in but they also say never do water change and filter cleaning same day..but how do u do this without emptying ur tank of water lol. I have never used tank water to clean mine..rinse it all out in sink tap water, now we r on well water so it's even safer for beneficial bacteria w no chlorine etc in tap water. It's never ever been an issue w a fully cycled tank cuz u have all the beneficial bacteria in gravel, on decor etc. So your emptying out few gallons of tank water just to clean ur media in and then tipping up tank after which is essentially a water change?
lol, the media should be clean, your media is all clogged, the mechanical filter should only be in the bottom, ht water flows up from the bottom, so mechanical should have already have cleaned the water gong to the media, all gunks should only be in the bottom, placing a foam on top will just block solid gunks and be trapped in the media lol, check out fishpond guru "pimp my filter" why your setup is wrong
Not really I rarely use it. I used it a lot at the beginning until I learned you don’t need it. I only use it now if I want to remove meds after a treatment. Other from that I don’t use it.
