Boxing gloves' odor is one of the worst odors ever. I almost threw up when I first smelled it

Tip: store and carry your gloves with crumpled newspaper inside. It has worked for me for years.

I started kickboxing a month ago and a friend lend me his gloves, he really needed this video because those gloves smelt so bad my hands had a funny and crappy smell the entire day after.

I got a feeling the six dislikes are from the throw-them-into-the-gym-bag-and-not-see-them-overnight crowd. lol

The best tip is to wash your wraps regularly! Funky wraps are the main culprit for funky gloves.

I personally like to use a boot dryer to keep my gloves dry. I spray the inside of the gloves with lysol and then pop them on the boot dryer and the bacteria never gets a chance to smell up the gloves because they dry so quickly. You can find boot dryers for around 20-40 bucks and they work wonders on boxing gloves. I’ve had the same pair for a year and a half now when I used to run through gloves ever couple of months. Highly recommend.

Hey, I usually put some Cat litter sand in an old pair of sock and keep it inside my gloves. The litter sand absorb the moisture and eliminate the strong odor. Been doing it for years now, always work!

I managed to make my now 1 year old gloves last WAY longer by buying anti-moisture packets that I put in everyday after training. After the first set lost it's power, I added another one. I'm currently on 3 per glove. Still does the trick. AND mixed with window breathing post-workout too. My main issue is my gloves breaking apart from heavy bag work. Duct tape is saving that one... for now.

I clean my gloves, shinguards every night. I spray disinfectant in my gloves and wipe the insides with disinfectant wipes. I use a wash machine for my hand wraps and shin guards. btw I love your channel. you forgot to make a video on how to clean hand wipes.

I recommend some shoe odor balls and just toss them inside your gloves

I also keep Silica packets in my gear bag. They are those little packets of clear pellets that usually come with clothes or packages. Silica is one of the most water absorbent materials so keeping them in your gear bag helps keep everything dry.

Great guide! I made a mixture of 1/4 white vinegar 3/4 water and 10-15 drops of tea tree and lavender essential oils and it works wonderfully!

for you guys saying that there is still odor, what i do after airing the gloves out, i get a bar of antibacterial soap, cut it in half and place each half inside the gloves and leave them there until i use the gloves again. try it.

I’m living in a tropical climate and am super sweaty, so trying to dry out the inside of the glove is key - to limit bacteria growth. I’ve been using old newspaper scrunched up inside the glove for a few hours / overnight - and sometimes supplementing this with an hour or two in a shaded spot outside (paper removed) - direct sunlight will crack the leather. Touch wood - this has kept two pairs of gloves stink free after months of regular use. Also I don’t recycle wraps that haven’t been washed. Plus I’ve been soaking all clothing including wraps in a bucket of water with a cup of white vinegar (you can get cheap synthetic vinegar in most supermarkets) for a couple of hours before going in the washing machine. This keeps good quality “technical” fabrics from getting funky.

Charcoal is the best odor eliminator for our gloves 👌

I use one beg of vanilla sugar for each glove. It really helps with the smell and keeps them dry.

I use activated charcoal bags (shoe deodorizers) sold on Amazon. Have worked great so far!

Another big tip is to always use a washed pair of handwraps. Treat them like socks. Get 5-7 pairs of handwraps so you can use a fresh one everyday. Wash them all at once after your final workout day of the week.

Eucalyptus oil is the best for bacteria. Shin guards and gloves inside and out 💪🏻 you can dilute the oil into a spray bottle with some water and spray onto a microfibre cloth and wipe them down. Then spray gloves inside and stuff with a dry microfibre cloth or newspaper to absorb moisture 👍🏻

When I was younger I threw my gloves in the dryer cause I had practice not too long after I washed them and I ruined them 💀💀

I *always* dry out my gloves after a workout. I do it ghetto style and throw them on my dash and turn up the fans while i drive home. I've known some people to get fancy and use air vented shoe trees to dry them. I've also known someone who'd wear painter's gloves inside his boxing gloves, which has the same effect as socks inside shoes. Keeping the gloves dry is key! I've also seen the opposite end where someone actually had fuzzy mold all over their gloves. Nasty! Care for your gear!

I've boxed for almost 12 years now I can say he's spot on. Cleaning your equipment is important. Personally I do not use essential oils, I used them once but Kenny still died after eating a bottle I gave him. Turns out you aren't supposed to eat the bottle itself. Better luck next time.

I loosely stuff the inside of my gloves with newspaper. it helps absorb moisture and keeps air flow. I've also used dryer sheets, just for the scent.

Question can I leave my gloves in my room with no fan or any other room during winter or do i still have to put it in front of fan for the time being cause I might not leave them on the porch to get vented if it a bad winter sea

Great video bro. For the inside what I did was buy a pack of cedar shavings, fill 2 old socks with the shavings, tied knots in the end to keep the shavings in place & shove them inside whenever I'm done training til the next time I train. Works like a champ! Like a homemade glove dog deodorizer. 🥊

Take old socks and fill them with cedar chips (hampster section). Staple shut. A big bag is only like $4.00 and will fill many socks. Wash your hands before training and use these afterward - problem eliminated.

When you first buy your gloves use antiperspirant on the inside of them, gel works best. And never carry them home in a bag and make a habit of hanging them up outside or in a doorway.

My first pair got so bad I’d take a shower after training and then I’d take another shower first thing the next morning

use different hard wraps every day . Dont keep ur gloves in your gym bag . Throw them in your balcony when u get back home . Use 2 pair of gloves .

all u need is a dryer, dry it immediately after you train until it's totally dry, and ur good. dont use hot mode, just warm wind since high temperature would damage your buddies.

I'm seriously considering getting some new gloves. I've done just about everything but they still stink. I've cleared out a whole class who over stayed their 3 hours mind you, so it could have been that. But I can't take the smell myself. Have you ever tried to spray some cologne instead of taking a shower as a teenager? Well that's what the dryer sheets are doing, you're covering up a smell with something that smells good. A good nose will pick up the bad smell along with the good smell. It might even ruin that scent to you permanently. I've done everything but hand washing the gloves, so maybe that will take care of it. Will update if that works. Don't ever leave your gloves to soak in the juices, because that's what let me here in the first place.

Try 3% hydrogenperoxyde! wash your gloves with it... use some cold water afterwards. you can also put it in a dropper and put some on your hands now and then before you put on the gloves
