I have an 82 XR100 I got for a super good price, just to teach myself how to ride a bike. Always starts up on the first kick, people i got it from had a WHOLE collection of Honda dirtbikes and four wheelers.

Make sure the screw cap is screwed on all the way. Make sure the spring was put back into carb, make sure the throttle cable is back in its little notch.
Thanks man that was very helpful!!! .... I have a question, what is the tube that comes out the bottom of the carb that you left on ? and what does it connect to ? ... I am new to mechanics !
James Hogan That is the gas over flow tube. You just route it to the bottom of the bike. Just when your bike tips gas would come out of that tube or if your float is stuck gas will also pour out of that tube.
Sam Harb yes, it can be the float height. I would first check the needle valve and o-ring seat those are very common problems of gas leaking from drain line.
King Fox most likely you will have too. If you want try to drain old gas out and fill with new gas, see if that works. If not just clean the carb should be good to go👍🏼
King Fox follow the gas line from the tank to the carburetor take a pair of pliers and remove the gas line turn the fuel on and let it run into old bottle.
Since attempting to clean my carb for the first time on my 2002 xr100 starting the bike results in revving out of control, smoking, and terrible smell... Any suggestions?
Depending how long it has sat, I would change oil. Check air filter, make sure your air/ idle screw is set to spec. It should smoke a little for first start but once it warms up should be good to go. If it’s still smoking after it’s warm your burning oil, and you will need top end rebuilt.
I have a question since I see you have a 100cc to mine is a CRF not xr but they are the same how do you change the throttle cable since I tryed for 2 hours and it starts off at half throttle and I have the a band new cable that's the original ?
@@RidingWiithJacob no like what I mean is when I installed the new cable and everything is put together once I twist the throttle it only goes half way and it's at full throttle and won't go down all the way
builderpro155 so the only thing I can think of without actually seeing it is that your cable may Not be in the throttle slide far enough. It’s hard to say what’s wrong without actually seeing it. I hope you get it figured out👍🏼
Update I got it to work you were right but after that it now bogs when I give it gas but it idles just fine and it also does not shut off cleaned the carb and jets and nothing so you know anything about that maybe?
Hey I did exactly what you did and I know there's a short black hose that is attached to the bottom but I have a pretty long spare hose that I dont know where it goes to so my bike won't start w out it...COMMENT BACK ASAP PLZZ📈💙
Tyler McDonald I’m pretty sure that’s just the overflow tube. Won’t affect running condition. The only other line is a gas line that runs from petcock valve to the side of the carb. Best of luck
