How to Clean Corroded Battery Terminals

Great product tips for a lasting solution! I live on the pacific coast in Northern California the salty, cool, damp climate wrecks havoc on battery terminals.

I just buy a single can of Pepsi, open it up, and pour directly onto the terminals. If the corrosion is persistent, stick the metal part of the cable into a cup of Pepsi and let it sit for 10 minutes. Cables will come out looking brand new. Try it yourself it's facts.

Pads also help prevent corrosion and a battery terminal cleaner is a must have that can be picked up at Harbor Freight for a couple bucks. 👍🏼

Can you clean them or just the one without disconnecting it I noticed on one it's just starting to turn white is there anything I get buy to like say spray on it before it gets really bad

What do you recommend to clean just the grease or anticorrosion on the terminals?

Quick easy! I feel competent enough to do this as a woman.

Some of the slurry from the neutralizing solution was overflowing the tray down into engine compartment. Any danger to wires or other components from this? I rinsed the affected area iwith some light spray with garden hose when I noticed it happening.

i have corrosion on my terminals. my car takes a while to start but once it catches it goes. someone told me it was the started but i think the starter starts and the corrosion is preventing the smooth operation. any thoughts. ? i will do this since i need to rule out other things before i replace the starter. thank you for this video, really helpful.

Dielectric grease is non-conductive, and should not be applied to the mating surfaces of the posts. Use a conductive electrical grease like No-Ox-id A special and use dielectric grease on the exterior side or the terminal protection spray like in the video.

Thanks to this. I just cleaned the corrosion off my car battery,I'm scared to start it lol do I need to wait a few hours after cleaning the corrosion? Or is it ok to turn it on right away.

My understanding is that dielectric grease is an insulator, so it seems like a bad idea to put any between the battery post and the connector.

Do you need the 12v power supply’? I can’t find one with a cig lighter plug in. And how exactly do you clean it if you have to use that’s device? If you don’t use it what happens?

I don’t have the tools to disconnect the cables or anything from the battery but is it ok to clean the battery still as presented in video?

My shop quoted me 40 bucks to do this, is this worth it? Sounds like you actually need a lot of supplies.

l heard you can use vaseline to protect the terminals from future corrosion.. ls this true?

The wire connectors are not installed properly! You should loosen the nut and open the connector until it slides all the way to the bottom of the battery terminal. at 3:01 in the video, is how NOT to install the wires!. also why clean only 1/2 of the top of the battery?
