How to Clean Melted Plastic from a Stovetop 

This happened while I was at a friend's house. She forgot her stovetop was still hot and she placed a plastic dish on top of it. She quickly lifted it up and the bottom circular portion remained. I immediately sprayed it with Pam cooking spray and lifted it up like a plastic pancake by using (non-metallic) spatula. It came up immediately. I did wonder what to do once it cooled down and dried, so thank you for this video!

This method of cleaning the stovetop works! I soaked for 30 mins. I used a wooden spoon for removing the melted plastic. It doesn't bend and it won't scratch the surface

I accidentally burned a Tupperware container. I left it on the stove while it was still hot, and I thought I’d never be able to remove it. However, I tried using vinegar and bicarbonate of soda while the cooker was still warm (not burning, just hot), and to my surprise, the plastic came off in one piece after only 3 minutes. Thank you so much. 😊

how do i remove the plastic residue?. the plastic container I placed on the burner is white. After I applied your vinegar’s solution the burner looks discolored . I can feel the residue. The burner surface is no longer smooth. Help!

Actually works better still hot when u turn the burner off with a scrapper.Came off instantly in a sec with a scraper. Instead of waiting for it to get hard and do all the baking soda /vinegar...Literally just came right off

The stovetop was turned on and we left a plastic cable on it. It got burned and started dropping sparks and this helped

Are you using a metal or rubber scraper? What do you recommend to avoid scratching the glass top?

Wow! It actually works! Although it depends on the type of plastic and how badly it's stuck on. I had dropped a clear plastic bag on the burner while it was on. It was completely glued on. I had to repeat the process about 3.times but guess what? My stovetop looks like new!

I use a razor bladed on mine, those plastic scrapers are useless, I bought my stove 18 yrs ago, its white too, and it still looks like new

My daughter turned on the oven with a bag of bread ontop of the stove. The plastic is stuck under the control panel standing up not flat. I can’t sprinkle a bunch of baking soda. Help??

So for my small brain, how does the baking soda and vinegar help lift it?

I just put a bowl in the microwave for too long and bam everything melted and I was like crap so I grabbed a razor thing and scraped it up

This is so stupid. Baking soda just neutralized the vinegar. You're literally just scraping it off. Maybe the baking soda acts as an abrasive but the vinegar is doing nothing.

I got a whole bowl of plastic melted ontop of my air fryer...
