Hey Luke after watching this video I gotta say THANK YOU!!!! I bought it and it clean the tires like it has never been clean before in years lol... I use it right straight from the gallon and OMG my eyes where like THIS WILL CLEAN THE TIRES SUPER CLEAN REMOVING ANYTHING DURT..... THANKS AGAIN KEEP THOSE VIDEOS COMING IM LEARNING ALOT FROM YOU AND YOUR VIDEOS...
Junior Sandoval that's awesome!!!!! So glad these videos are helping you out man! That's the goal!!! Keep me updated on how things are going in your Detailing world! I appreciate the encouragement!'
Luke, buddy, grab you a pair of safety glasses (or clear lenses for sunglasses you already have) in case the wind sprays that stuff back into your eye -- just like it did me the other day. I also recommend all detailers keep a small first aid kit which includes some eye drops. Obviously, wash out your eyes with water then apply a few drops. Stay safe.
Tito Rodriguez warning do not use purple power on tires it takes the oils out out and then they dry rot not yust my opinion its a fact from experience but he is not wrong it will clean
I understand the logic behind this idea, but that just is not true because of the nature of the detailing process. Any cleaner that one would use on a tire is going to remove grease, oils, etc... There is no way to avoid that, and if that were the only thing that detailers did than yes, you would need to worry about a tire drying out quicker... but that simply is not the case. The clean tire is then dressed with a tire dressing that is going to protect from UV rays, condition it, lubricate it, and put a sacrificial layer on it to further protect it from the elements. It will actually preserve your tire in the long run.
Robbie Vick Excuse me, you don't detail for a livin do you? Just wondering... Any product used on a RUBBER tire is going to dry it out. You have to use COMMON sense in knowing that you have to protect or RECONDITION the tire AFTER cleaning it using WHATEVER product you choose. When detailing/cleaning a car PREPPING any surface you are working on is key. Wilson's AD did it correctly in reapplicating, and scrubbing the tire until the foam coming up turned into white foam. White foam indicates a clean tire, the dirty brown foam means dirt is still being lifted out of the tire... AND you don't want to keep dressing a tire without properly cleaning it. Now that the tire is really clean, when you add a tire dressing it will bond to the tire better, while also reconditioning, protecting from UV rays, AND preventing dry rot, and cracking. AND I only know this from doing it for many years, while failing, gaining experience, knowledge, and skill, and growing into a very great detailer serving the city of Houston, Tx. Nice video Wilson's Auto Detailing 👍
You should try Adams Rubber and tire. Yes it’s not cost effective, but it actually gets your tires clean and less blooming/browning over time. Better for my personal cars rather than customers. If you take a white glove or your hand to the dry tire after cleaning with Adams, nothing ever comes off. With Megs D101, purple power, super clean something always came off. Did no scientific research, that touch test and no blooming is my tests lol
Speaking of all tires not reacting the same way, I noticed that your lungs reacted pretty harshly to the Purple Power fumes, hack-hack. I've had a similar reaction to whenever I use Simple Green to clean anything around the house. Anyways, another informative video on a topic rarely seen on youtube. Good job.
Hi, what tire cleaner do you currently use & recommend? I know this video featuring purple power is 3 years old and on a more recent video you recommended another product. I checked all your videos, nothing recent mentioning tire cleaners. Thanks.
I bought a set of Michelin Super Sports and I would dress them but the dressing would never stick it always looked really weird . I now know that they were probably sitting somewhere collecting grease because they looked dirty when they were put on . Ima def try this out . Thanks man.
I like how you always compare stuff to real life examples! makes it easier for average people at home to understand. You remind me of a young ammo NYC! What tire shine do you recommend ?
Thank You ,Thank you, Thank you !!! This was my ahhhh the light bulb turned on moment . My Car Pro Perl tire dressing would last longer had I scrubbed the tires 3-4 times or whatever it takes instead of once! Perfect !!! 👍🏻 Brenda
Lol i used "Super Clean Degreaser Foaming action" on my truck and tires and that stuff did almost all of the work for me. I'm afraid to use it again though because after my tire dried, it was a deep extremely dry Matt look and feel. Idk if that's normal. Maybe my tires are just dried out from the lack of care in them, but I brought them back to life with "extreme shine" spray from armor all. It Looked like a mirror after it dried.
Thats awesome man! Ya I would assume the issue lies with the lack of maintaining the tires in the first place, but it sounds like you got it figured out!! Let me know if I can help you out with anything!
have you ever use a spin brush for cleaning tires? i find using the spin brush on a cordless drill much more convenient and much more productive especially if you gotta go over it over and over again.
I use the drill brush and yes, it works and is very efficient. The only drawback for me is whenever you cannot get the bottom part of the tire on some cars and I have to take a wheel brush and scrub the bottom.
So, I just stumbled onto this channel..and this video. I have used all 3 products here to clean tires/wheels. Purple power has messed up my factory painted wheels. When I am cleaning tires, I'm also aiming to clean the wheels. However, if I were JUST cleaning the tires I don't know how I would just keep it on the tires without getting it on the wheels and I don't want to risk getting it on another set of wheels knowing how it ruined my current set. I absolutely love the price of the purple power though, since I also use it full strength. Purple power also messed up my kitchen counter, I accidentally left some of it sit in one spot for a couple hours and it took off the finish :(. Also, you must be EXTRA careful not to get any of these 3 products on glass as it will leave a nasty residue that seems to be impossible to remove.
Ya purple power can certainly be tricky without the right experience and know how. Over spray onto the wheels has never been a problem for me because of my process in tire cleaning and wheel cleaning, but if you are having a problem I would just dilute it to a certain degree depending on what you are cleaning, also SUPER CLEAN degreaser is incredible, and I steer most people to them because I love their product so much
Great video I will try it. Still loving the IPA wash it works on every thing and disinfects also. P.S. Try adding a surfactant and I bet it will work even better! 20 - 1 DAWN. ! Cuts Grease right ?
You used the purple power about 4 times. You should of done a comparison with the maguairs to see if you got the same result with less application. Or the same. If it turns out you use less of the maguairs to get the same result, it might equate to the same amount of money or less in the long run against using the cheaper purple power.
The whole point of the video is that the purple power is stronger then the other products and also cheaper.. there was no need for comparison.. And to this day 3 years later purple power is still probably the best tire cleaner.. I still use it professionally as well.
Suggestion, actually stop after the first pass. The brown film is not dirt or brake dust, if you are too aggressive with a hard brush and cleaner you may trigger the blooming and antiozonant from the tire to come out creating a reaction or an oxidation effect. True, not all tires react the same way. Brown film coming out is actually a good thing, and it's not brake dust or grease as many other detailers have said, it's the tires antiozonant. Aggressive cleaning = a Reaction and more cleaning, more cleaner more water more passes. Do what you want, but I'd stop at the first or second pass, wipe with a towel or dress it over the antiozonant
Awesome videos dude....love to see the cleaning process without speeding it up...I know it would make for a longer video but maybe just some in normal speed....ok just nitpicking...your videos are amazing!!!
I always clean wheelwells wheels and tires before I begin washing and waxing the outside because the tires can be so dirty that you get a lot of dirt on the paint as you're cleaning, then of course I dress the wheel wells and tires after I finish washing and waxing the paint
Thanks so much for the quick reply and excellent advice. I have been overwhelmed with all the other detail channels flooding me and burning me out. It's a breath of fresh air to find your no nonsense right to the point professional advice. Your channel is by far the best auto detail channel out there.
Dude you just made my day! It's so great to know that these videos are really helping people out in their detailing world. I really do appreciate that encouragement, and I'm just so glad that I an help!!! I love the community that the youtube channel brings, so many detailers give a lot of great advice in the comments, and it really just makes everyone more constructive!! It's so awesome!!
I am a beginner here in Minnesota trying to learn and start a detail business and i could not find any channel out there teaching the trade like you do. All i need is your channel to be honest.
Wow man, I could not say thank you enough to tell you how much I appreciate that. I'm so so glad that you can have a resource like this channel that can give you some straight up answers like you need them. It definitely puts you way ahead of the game, seeing as most people starting have to just learn through experience. Let me know if I can help you out with anything!
Luke, I have a show truck that rarely gets driven and always has dressing on the tires. Because it rarely gets driven it rarely gets washed. I usualy just use my car duster. So my tires get this white crusty tire dressing that won't come off and looks terrible. Hope this purple power works or do you recommend something different in my case?
Zep Industrial Purple Degreaser vs. Purple Power comparison Please!? I'd also like to see it compared to Super Clean & Meg's Super Degreaser. I love your degreaser reviews & demo's & so do a lot of others. (:
cool! I know this stuff is super strong and leaves a white residue. do u ever get complaints or does it dry out the rubber at all? also I read some chemicals in harm aluminum have u experienced any of that on rims?
So I never use the purple power on wheels, not ever, because it can harm them, however I have never experienced it leaving a white residue, but I usually only use it on the tires anyway. Also, whenever you clean and degrease a tire, you always follow up with a tire dressing which is going to condition, and moisturize the tire in a sense, so no need to worry about drying out, but eventually all tires degrade, dry, and crack
What if you get solvents on the tire, such as gasoline, that leave brown drip spots on the tire. Will this method remove the marks, or is there another method you suggest?
Good video. I couldn't find the video you explain to dilution water or chemical to the bottle to 3-1, 5-1 etc.. do I put more water or chemical... Thanks again.
Junior Sandoval I actually have not made a dilution ratio video, but I will! And the dilution you use depends on what you are cleaning, for example, when I am cleaning tires with purple power I do not dilute it at all, I use it full strength, but if I am using purple power to clean carpet stains then I will dilute it anywhere from 5:1 to 10:1, depending on how serious the stain is, that is 5 parts water to 1 part purple power, or 10 parts water to 1 part purple power. The more serious the stain, the more purple power I use, meaning if it is a bad stain, I will use 5:1 purple power, if it is just general carpet cleaning, 10:1 will be fine. I hope that helps!
Purple power is NOT acid based, it is an alkaline cleaner, to be specific it scores about 12.98 on the pH scale, making it VERY not acidic, so it is basic
Is it safe for tires though? Their directions say it's not safe for rubber roof tiles because it could de-fat and crack the rubber. So i'd imagine it could do the same to tires and cause premature cracking over time in tires?
i used purple power and now i have a bunch of white residue... any ideas on how to get it out? i did 2 tires and they came out alright, but then i did the other 2 and they are stained..
charger548 no biggie, the amount of overspray that gets on the rims just is a non issue, especially because the tires and rims are wet with water so it's diluted on top of that... no big deal
I bought aftermarket wheels for my suv I wouldn’t clean the wheels using PP but while spraying my tires can the overspray or run off stain or damage my wheels or is it only if I let it dry ? I’m afraid to damage my wheels by trying this but I really do need to clean my tires. Ie: The wheels are painted wheels no chrome or bare metal. Thanks in advance for any advice you give
Yep I wouldn’t worry about the negligible overspray. Spray the wheel with water first so that when the overspray gets on it it will be diluted instantly. I prefer super clean now for tires
I definitely would be careful, and of course never use it on wheels, but I would say for your specific situation, just dilute purple power 5:1 to weaken it a little, and test in an inconspicuous area to see if it does anything to the wheels! and let me know!
+Wilson Auto Detailing Thanks for the reply Luke. I'm a Little concerned that when I spray the purple power to clean the tires it will get over sprayed on to the rims. You never had any experience with using it on Matte black rims?
I have and I have never had any problems, but I am also extremely careful when it comes to things like that, I would also spray a bunch of water on the wheels first so that the overspray automatically get diluted when it hits it!!!
No definitely not! Go with meguiars wheel brightener! One of my fav products! Here is my video on it to learn more about that product in particular if you are interested: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9Pw6VYMjFxM.html Let me know if you need anything else!
Hi, i cant find this purple degreaser where i live (Singapore). Is it possible to use some other industrial strength degreasers, those which are extremely alkaline?
"Hey Luke " I Noticed that maybe that purple power is very bad for your lungs the smell and odor is making it hard for you to Breathe, please be careful bro!! Take Care...
ballerbrian4u honestly I'm not sure I would risk of that, I only say that because it is a very powerful/industrial degreaser and products like that can be difficult with wheels, you could always dilute it pretty heavily and increase the concentrate to water ratio to see just how much you could use it without damaging but of course that is experimentation and could result in some damage, I don't ever suggest using purple power with any sort of wheel! I hope that helps!
I know that seems logical because of the way things normally work, however after a tire is degreased in the detailing world you apply a tire dressing which is going to lubricate it, condition it, and keep it from drying out and cracking, however everything degrades over time, and tires will eventually dry out and crack regardless if someone degreases it or not. But actually, not degreasing and cleaning it, then dressing it will make it dry out and crack quicker, a maintained tire will last a lot longer.
Try not to be so long-winded when you explain things and try not to go off topic.. "If you hear cars going by.. That's what it is.. Cars going by" -- I find your videos very long.. I know most of your videos are LIVE.. But would be nice if you can just get to the point and not let other surrounding things distract you from the topic at hand. I find you are a very good detailer and you explain things thoroughly. I'm into wheel restoration.. So I appreciate all that you do on RU-vid.
Thank you for that constructive criticism my friend! I am very grateful, please let me know anything else if you think of it as you continue to be involved in the channel on how I can improve, I always want to be getting better! Thank you!
Purple Power is bad for paint, metals and brakes... READ THE WARNINGS ON THEIR OWN LABEL. Great for removing silicone waxes from applicator pads and oils from vulcanized rubber... Think!
Well the thing is, no dressing actually attracts dust, you know what I mean, it doesnt turn into a magnet for dust, it just causes dust to stick better because there is a residue now on the tire, so that is a bit of a misnomer, but I prefer water based tire dressings!!!! Try chemical guys VRP!!!
