I'm surprised that there's not more videos here explaining this I actually stumbled upon This by accident when I was cleaning a computer out I noticed that little green jumper on the board that said pswd and thought oh that must be linked to some bios admin password and sure enough it was so I figured why not show everybody how easy it is
Just bought a refurbished Dell optiflex 7050 off Amazon and this video helped a lot. Starting up a business/music studio so this was rather important. Thanks again

I have a 780, and lights, 1, 2 will flash, then a 3, and the amber light so the power supply isn't the problem. But these lights happen every other week, or recently, it took five days for the system to get back to normal to switch on. There is no windows 7 license key for it. It has been a problem going back five and a half years now.

I have a refurbished Optiflex 755. I forgot my password. When I took the cover off, I removed the cmos battery and went to take the blue jumper off it was gone already. Is there anything else I can do to get my computer back working??
It is pretty much the same but the little pswd jumper on the motherboard might be black instead of green it might be on a different location on the motherboard possibly near the edge instead of being near the peripheral ports and CMOS battery
Well for me... I did all that but when Windows is trying to load I get a SPLIT second Bluescreen then it Reboots itself and does the same thing over and over... is there something i did wrong???.....
I don't think it will lose anything. But just in case unplug the hard drive power cable from the drive then clear bios password. Start computer up with drive unplugged if the bios password is cleared turn computer off plug the hard drive in and it should boot with no data loss
Hey, could this potentially help me with my issue. The issue is as following: I installed a new HDD into the pc and its not being recognized, whenever I try to access f2 or f12 It starts beeping forever and never stops, when i use my old HDD i can access f12 but not f2 (optiplex 990) [ofc minus the password thing]
Have you tried removing the CMOS clock battery and letting it sit for a few minutes? You may also need to remove the PSWD jumper on the board to clear the retained memory
Use a small flathead screw driver and wedge it in between the battery and housing, and it should pop out. In order for the bios password to be cleared, the battery must be removed as it retains the settings
That is entirely up to you but if memory serves me correctly if that jumper is plugged back in the BIOS password will come back on certain computers not all of them do that really the jumper is just there to retain the memory in the event that the CMOS battery dies
I have done what you have said but admin password is still showing when trying to download a game ect how can i remove admin password? thank you for your reply mate
This video is for removing the bios admin password not the windows administrator password. There are some free programs you can get. Look for videos (how to remove admin password on windows __ put the Version of windows in your search)
There won't be any bad effects if you leave the jumper out the jumpers main function is to save the password in the Bios memory in the event the CMOS battery dies which is that little coin cell battery that's installed on the board if the computer currently has a BIOS password and you want it removed and don't know what the password is simply unplug the power to the computer remove that coin cell battery and the jumper hold the power button down to ensure that there is no current flowing through the computer and then put the coin cell battery back in only put the jumper back in if you plan to set a BIOS password of your own and it will save it in memory otherwise I would just leave the jumper out

Hi did you remove the cmos battery and remove the jumper on the board? Does it ask for a password as soon as you turn on the computer? Just to be clear this won't clear windows login passwords just bios passwords only
The GX280 could but it requires serious upgrades RAM needs to be maxed out I think the most it would do is 4GB I would install a SSD and a half hight PCI-E graphics card the problem with these dell desktops is the graphics cards have to be a certain hight so the case can close if it's too big the computer will not be able to close properly
@@deanmorara3491 I'm not sure if the gx270 will run 10. The only system that I tried on that model was 8.1 which was a stripped down copy no apps microsoft store etc...
Optiplex 755. Had problems with Win 10. Try dual boot with Linux.BIOS ignore Me. Took out CMOS battery....and everything after was been ok.Just Win 10 ask repair himself....
You don't need to put it back its there to retain the bios password in the event the cmos battery dies or is removed. But who sets bios passwords anymore? So I pulled the jumper out and threw it away
