Did you know that you can climb all the way to the top of Bell Rock in Sedona, Arizona?
Bell Rock is a popular stop for many people visiting Sedona, Arizona. It is such an incredible rock formation with numerous beautiful trails and places to explore. Since it is made from sticky sandstone, Bell Rock is a perfect playground for those who love to climb.
A while back, we found out that there is a way to climb all the way to the top of Bell Rock. At first, we thought it was the official Bell Rock Climb. However, that only took us to about ⅔ of the way. After finding the actual route, we got shut down twice. Mainly because we didn’t have the right shoes, appropriate skills, and enough daylight. To get all the way to the top of Bell Rock, you’ll need some technical climbing and downclimbing skills. They say the third time’s a charm. This time around, we brought not only proper shoes and skills but also the adventure crew to help us conquer Bell Rock!
☠️☠️ WARNING!!!!!! The climb to the top of Bell Rock is VERY difficult, dangerous, and considered semi-technical. There are a few spots that required climbing skills. The last part near the top of the Bell Rock climb is fully exposed with a class 5 rating. While it is easy if you know how to climb, it is very dangerous for those who don’t. If you fall, it's a long way down!! Also, if you go up, you have to climb back down. The downclimbing part is a lot more difficult than going up. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS ADVENTURE IF YOU’RE NOT 100% SURE ABOUT YOUR ABILITY!! We also recommend going with other people. This way, you can help each other out in difficult spots. ☠️☠️

My dad and I climbed to that 2/3 point that y’all climbed to in the first video yesterday. It was really fun trying to pick out paths up! We wanted to pick our way to the very top but decided that we would tackle it another time!

It is so much fun, but it is also as you can see a lil sketchy at times. We are now hearing that you can go all the way to the very top. Definitely something for us to check out on our next visit!

Wow. That made my palms sweat and I’m a rock climber! We made it up one of the lower spires with our little kids and were curious if we could have made it to top. Looks like it’s possible but not yet with our kids. Great video. 😊

Not going to lie. it's a lil spicy! Now we are hearing that you can get up to the top center spire as well. We will have to look into it next time we are there. If it is any more exposed than the part we already did we might just call it good there.

Thank you so much for the excellent video of the entire trip. I've been to Bell Rock 2x's and only got about 2/3rds of the way up. It was getting late and I was alone so I did not want to push it. Thank you for that validation on making that choice. But since that time I've wanted to get to the top. Some people I know made it. They said they met a guy there who offered to help them. Now after seeing the route I don't think I would want to go it alone. That one part looks scary. In my younger days I would not have a problem, but now a lot older and 1 kind of shaky hip I'm not so sure. But the one thing you may have missed in addition to getting to the top is to do some energy meditation there. Bell Rock is said to be the most powerful Vortex of them all. And just look at the rock formation. The bottom looks like is was liquid rock extruded out onto the surrounding ground. Like it came out from a giant semi-soft server ice cream machine, only it extruded red rock instead of ice cream. From some angles it looks more like a giant nipple. The spiritual aspect is that the vortex energy is so strong you can have amazing spiritual experiences. One enlightened master who went there probably 100 times or more is said to have had a life changing experience while in deep meditation where he was sucked down into a giant cavern way beneath Bell Rock into a giant cave filled with crystals, called the crystal palace. There he met the very spirit of Mother Earth who gave him a message that he had to work to save the planet. And that has been his life's goal ever since! He has since created a Tao Fellowship Organization teaching ancient Tao practices and principles that promote peace and harmony between Heaven, the Earth, and the Humans that are actually a combination of both heaven and earth energy. Our thoughts and mind (consciousness) come from Heaven and our physical body is made of material from the earth. The thing that holds them together is - energy which is the human component. We are not our bodies which are just material from the earth - food and water - what we actually are is the energy that enervates the entire biological systems. To me that makes perfect sense - as they say - ashes to ashes dust to dust. Our physical body is just dust when you take away the energy. Where that energy goes is a discussion for another time though! :) Personally I have studied with many great Tao masters and grandmasters over the years so I know when teachings are authentic. And these are definitely rooted in the Taoist energy practices, I even find a lot of similarity to things taught by Shaolin Masters. You can check out videos by Shi Heng Yi of the Shaolin Temple Europe for examples. But back to Bell Rock. Thank you again. I am planning a trip out there sometime in the next few years. I'll have to get my hip fixed first, and find some friends who want to join me. Namaste and Namaskar and Kamsahamnida!

Holy smokes Batman !! While I'm honored to occasionally get to be part of the "Adventure Crew", or at least the token old white guy, I'm not sure if I'd be able to stomach that upper climb & descent. Kudos to you and all those familiar smiling faces of the "Crew". Miss you guys and looking forward to next time I get to adventure with you all. Yes, even that crazy little Koala !!

We made it to just past the chute but didn’t see a good way to safely climb much past that, so checked out your video and now I’m glad we chose to turn around. “Live to hike another day” and after what we have already achieved in climbing we allow ourselves a pass now and again.
@ThatAdventureLife
@ThatAdventureLife 6 месяцев назад
Yea we wish we could say that it gets easier after the chute but it gets way more sketchy. Its always best to turn around when in doubt. One thing that we found really helped was our shoe choice. We were wearing the La Sportiva tx3's and they get so much grip out there. amzn.to/48ddy1V We hope you had an awesome time in Sedona!

My screen saver for years was a pic we took from the top of Bell Rock. A sunset pick of the valley to the north. It was our Honeymoon and at the top we met a woman that was celebrating the life of her brother, whom had recently passed. She had a bottle of champagne and 3 glasses ( oddly enough, she took it as a sign!).Shared it with us as we toasted her brother. Climbing down with crappy little flashlights kinda sucked, but was a great memory.

It is such a beautiful view up there! Thats a wild coincidence that she had 3 glasses. Probably better that she didn't drink the whole thing before the climb down in the dark 🤣. Glad that we could bring back a fond memory and congrats on making the climb!

I don't think its intentional. As a fellow Asian from California, I can confirm there's just no peakbagging culture outside of those living in the Sierras. Standing on the summit block isn't necessarily the goal for many people.

I made this guided climb today (3/10/2024) with my daughter, son-in-law, 5 year old granddaughter, 10 year old grandson, and 7 month old granddaughter and 11 other climbers. Our guide was amazing. He has two helpers that are freaking amazing as well. They helped me with my footing, hauling me up, allowing me to take their hands or arms. My shoes were crap. I am buying new shoes so I can do this climb again.
