Whenever I do drawing, i did a genga style (keyframe) sketch first, all the shading marked with colored lines. It's time consuming, but somehow it's also give benefit to do lines less stressful (at least for me) and the colors are fixed. At least that's how I did my artworks, because I usually draw characters in cell shaded like anime. But, this video is insightful because i got trouble doing anime style painting like this one :3

I hope you do tutorials on doing background in anime style too and how to change the mood and lighting of the same scene! The way you teach is so so helpful and concise honestly the only channel I go back to every time thank you!!

Oo, that's how I color stuff! I didn't know about darkening hair under the highlights, I'll try that next time. Tip! I also like to add a bit of light on the sideburns for extra shiny-ness! Thanks for the class, Mr. Marc, here's your like and your algorith-pleasing comment!

Thanks, Marc! I followed you for awhile, seem your clips improve better and better, "no gatekeep" than before (in previous clips, long ago, they tend to too fast, hidden some techniques without clear explain, such as gradient map). For this clip, I can point out these interesting things: clear process (layers, how to use, order of them, etc..), average pacing (no more sudden cut or quick settings (especially the "outer glow" part), and the sum up at the end of the clip to remind "do you remember what you're just watched" (not many tutorials clips do this). Keep up the good work, bro!

Hello, and thank you for the tutorial, it was a really good and helpful tutorial, specially the under glow for highlights. I'm having quite hard time with painting the eyes, it doesn't look bad, but it doesn't have that "WOOWW". Could you, please, make an eye coloring tutorial, in cel-shading style, when you have the time for it? And, of course, have a great trip!

It's like he's in my walls and watching what I struggle with the most 🤣 Thank you for the awesome tutorial and I hope you enjoy your vacation! Side note: For some reason I can't seem to learn how to use a clipping mask in Krita properly. I don't know if I'm just stupid or setting it up wrong but I've tried multiple times and it does not work. Is it because I set it up before I've added any color? Do I need to fill the character with a base color first? Because if I don't the layer either disappears or it doesn't restrict it to the silhouette of the line art layer. Sorry if this is confusing to read, I don't really know how to explain it properly. This problem has stopped me from shading and adding the final details to pretty much anything I draw because I can't figure it out.

I have a question: at 1:50, I noticed you stretched the hair highlight upwards. Shouldn't the highlight be bent downwards, since the form is above our eyeline? What I mean is that it should bend similarly to how you drew the eyes, with the further eye being a bit lower than the eye closer to us. It looks like you drew it the same as you did for the ball example at 1:03, where we seem to be looking at the sphere from a little above its center. When looking at the face, i think we see the hair from below, so shouldn't the highlight be similar (or even more bend) to the one from the brushed metal sphere example from 1:06 (i think we have our eye level in the center of the sphere)? Can someone who understands this explain why it is like that? (SORRY FOR BAD ENGLISH; I will try to clarify any parts of my question that might seem unclear.)
