Great video love the EQ trick! Question When I record bass in a similar way DI and amp mic on two separate mono tracks. Doing multi takes on both mono DI and amp tracks at the same time for comping I notice some of the takes are not quite aligned .Do I need to align all these track takes so they won't be out phase before I do my comping? Cubase 12 pro Thanks so much...😎

Hello, great video. However I have a question: When you have two EQs in parallel (HP/LP at 100Hz) with 36db/oct slope this creates a big dip at that 100Hz corner frequency, so when a note or harmonic of the bass in that frequency, that note will dissappear, right?

Great video Joe. I was just wondering... I often get recordings where the main low end is coming from the amp track and the DI is mostly attack. Do you ever get that and if so, what's your approach? Do you just employ the same logic but the other way around?

I don't often get that, but when I do I would probably keep the full frequency of the amp track and blend the DI in for more attack if needed.

I like to use a parallel band pass to find a seat for the low end

I take the DI and amp tracks and send them to a buss. The compressor is on there.

hi Joe do you use an LA2A on the bass to do overall levelling?

I often do. Sometimes I use the bx opto or Kush Novatron instead, or another style of compression if it fits the part or song. If the bass part has a lot of peaks, I'll pair the LA2A with an 1176 style compressor.
