I came out to my friends today! I literally just said "I'm gay." And they were like YAY! I've only come out to them and my mom. I felt so happy to reveal that part of me.

my coming out story, for young lgbtq+ people who want to come out: my parents, especially my dad, was quite homophobic, not the "all gays are disgusting1!1!" but the "i'm not a homophobe but i don't approve of their lifestyle" kind. i knew that bc i had tested the waters before coming out as gay. even though he had those horrible views, i still discussed with him why the lgbtq+ community demand more rights and more recognition, and how we're simply people with different sexual/romantic orientations and gender identities, that we just want to love and be loved like anybody else. i talked to him about how lgbt+ are way more discrimated against then cis het people like him are and why, and, gradually, he came to understand how we're just... humans. so one day, when i felt safe enough to do it, i came out to him. i was so, so afraid, since i knew i was (/felt kind of) safe, but to him, there was still a difference between meeting an lgbtq+ person and *knowing someone in his family* was lgbtq+. but i came out, i really wanted to, and... he was very supportive of me. he's horrible with words, but he let me know he would always accept me no matter whose people i was attracted to, or whatever gender i identified as. nowadays, he's not only supportive of me, my sister (who's lgbtq+ too), but also of our whole community. in my town, the pride flag was everywhere for IDAHOT but he didn't know, he just said "oh isn't that the pride flag?" and i aswered yeah, and explained to him why the flag was raised. he replied "oh, that's fantastic!" he has also watched sense8 (which, as you may know, is more directed towards lgbtq+ ppl) and he just loved the series so much. he never made a fuss about the characters' sexualities/gender identities, he was just pretty much fanboying over how good the series was. he respected every character's pronouns, he accepted and respected the trans character(s?) as well. when he finished his (positive) ranting about the series, he said "i wish the world was more like that. y'know... friendlier." he's made so much progress in accepting non cis het people and i couldn't be happier. my point is, even if right now's not the time to come out to your family or, if you have come out and they are weird/unaccepting about it, there's always a chance things will come around. don't lose hope. if you're out and you can, talk it out with them. if my dad accepts and respects me and my sister, then i don't doubt for a second your parents/legal tutor(s) can come to accept you, respect you, and love you for who you are too. keep your head up, brighter times are coming ahead. sending lots of love your way, my young lgbtq+ family ♥💛💚💙💜

The first person I came out to was one of my close friends, and I came out to her by telling her that I had a crush on her. When I told her, she told me that she liked me back! We're dating to this day :)

Since today is National Coming Out day, I thought I'd visit this video (since it's about coming out) and leave a little message. Yes, I know Tyler's probably not going to see this, and I know a lot of other people probably won't see this. That's okay. Maybe someone who needs to see this will see it and..gain something from it? I have the unfortunate curse of being born into a largely homophobic family. When I was fourteen, I started realizing that I'm not exactly the straight person I thought I was. Needless to say, I shoved myself so far back in the closet I'm surprised I didn't see Narnia. During this time, I didn't feel very safe or accepted. I discovered Tyler's videos and started watching them, started learning and realizing that even if other people don't accept me, there's a whole community of people who will. He became the support for me that I didn't have, even if we've never spoken to each other. He became, in Tyler's words, my "proverbial big brother." As a Baby Gay, having someone who was already part of the community really helped. I came out to some of my friends, who turned out to be LGBT too! They introduced me to other friends and members of the community, I reached out to people online, I met so many other LGBTQ+ community members that I realized I had formed a small family of my own. I'm eighteen now, living with my mom (whom I'm out to), dating an absolutely beautiful person (I love them very much), with lots of friends from the community. Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you, Tyler, for giving me the push and support I needed to accept myself, for making me smile on days I doubted I'd ever smile again, for helping provide the hope that things will get better. Thanks for introducing me to the community of people who love and support each other. Things may seem hard now, but they will get better. You may or may not be out yet, but you'll always have a place here. We're family, and we're here for you.

Here's my coming out story for anyone who's interested (for some reason): So, lately I've been questioning my sexuality a lot, and the label to describe myself that I've landed on is bisexual. Originally, I had no intentions of telling anyone until after graduating high school. However, on March 31 of this year I was in tech class with a friend of mine who also happens to be bisexual. I had finished my work early, so I was playing quizzes on Buzzfeed because I had nothing else to do. I took a quiz called "Which Riverdale Character Should You Date" and I ended up getting Veronica as my result. My friend (who was sitting right next to me) glances over at my screen and jokingly says, "oh, are you a lesbian?" I wasn't afraid. I only hesitated for a moment and then answered, "oh, I'm bisexual actually." As of right now, I've come out to 5 or 6 people in my life: my brother (who is pansexual), my cousin (a lesbian), and some friends. My parents still don't know. I'm still in the process of coming out, but so far no one has taken it negatively and I'm doing well :) I'm happy to be celebrating my first Pride Month out of the closet (kind of)! For anyone here who is struggling to come out or who has done so and not been accepted; you are not alone. I'm the opposite of strait, and just recently came out to a few of my close friends. It has been so freeing, like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Im pansexual. I figured it out with one of my best friends, so her and I are pansexual. We took quizzes and I went to this app called amino, in that app I joined an Lgbtq+ group and I joined a chat with gay people, (that was before i knew I was pan), and the people there were so nice and supportive! I thought i was bisexual at first but the I knew I was pan. You and other youtubers have helped me through this. Im thinking of coming out when Im older because Im too young now. So thank you!

I came out to my family by accident actually. I had been carrying on a conversation like usual with my mum and somehow ended up on the topic of actors and bands and said about how attractive Emma Watson and Johnny Stevens are that I can't pick who's my favorite. Before that I went out to eat with my sister and her boyfriend and started doing MFK and when my list was very mixed they realized what I was trying to say. Her boyfriend was kinda confused but she knew already. Everyone actually knew before I said anything though, my mum said she knew since I was little that I "was going to be different."

My problem is mostly coming out to my family. I'm Jewish so that might be a problem. Only one of my four older sisters knows and she's cool with it. My friends all know and are cool with it which I fucking love. Another problem I have with coming out is I don't really use labels. I tried using labels when I first realized I wasn't 100% straight, like I tried bi and then I found pan, but it all got really confusing and I didn't like how I felt like I HAD to have a label so now I kinda just say I'm a human who likes other humans, but I don't know how much sense that would make when trying to come out to my parents. One more problem is my dad has a HUGE temper and I already have depression and anxiety and self harm issues and I really don't need him yelling at me for another reason. I'm really just scared to tell my mom and dad, mostly my dad. Also my three other older sisters but not as much as my parents. What do?

My coming out story: I told my older brother I'm bi while we were at the mall. I specifically told him not to tell my mom because I was still questioning my sexuality. My mom came back with our food (we were in the food court) and without waiting my brother says "mom she has to tell you something." i didn't say anything so he said "she is... bi" (that bitch) and my mom said "she doesn't even know what that means" i went home, locked myself in my room and cried.

I am currently in the closet and also on the fence about my sexuality. Like I have an interest in guys but as of right now I can't see myself sexually involved with one, only romantically. But there is still a part of me that denies who I may be because of my family and religion. I live in a religious household and my aunts all found out and I have their love and support, one even tried to convince me to tell my parents, but I am not ready, shit I can't even admit I am gay...I kinda feel left in the darkness about who I am and who I love...

I came out for the first time to my best friend and the was so supportive and happy for me and didn't make a big deal out of it but was still sensitive about my anxiety around it and to this day it is my best coming out experience 💕💕

Coming out for me isn't easy(and probably for a lot more people too), even tho I know a lot of ppl will accept me. It's hard. I'm going to be coming out to my mum who appreciates the LGBT+ community in 2 days. I'm not sure how will she react. If she tells me I'm in a phase(bcs I'm 12 :/) it will hit me rock bottom cuz I plan on telling her I have a girlfriend I love with all my heart. I have a few friends who know I'm bi and they got my back, but still. I'm going to be coming out to her when we are going shopping alone,the two of us. We will be in public so I think she will go easier on me. I just hope I won't cry bcs I cry easily when I get scared... Even tho I think she will have a calm reaction I'm not sure. I also know it's a bad idea coming out in public but my dad is always home, and I can't tell him yet. I honestly don't care on her opinion but at some sorts I'm scared she won't let me talk to my gf ever again. (She's my internet gf, we Skype a lot and text, she lives really far away from where I am)

My family is really religious (mainly my parents), so I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to come out. At the same time, it would break my heart not being able to see them. Any advice on how I should go about things?

I'm so happy that Gus is representing the United States at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games! He's a fantastic ally, alongside Tyler, and now more than ever it's important that everyone from all walks of life have a voice in the world.
