He started a wearable technology company called Digital Dudz that combined smartphones playing a video with clothing. Mark left NASA to grow the business for 2 years and after selling Digital Dudz to a company in the UK, he has recently decided to return to his Engineering roots.
Mark Rober is a RU-vidr and former NASA Engineer turned Inventor/Entrepreneur. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from BYU and Masters from USC. He worked at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory for 9 years, 7 of which were spent working on the Curiosity Rover which is now on Mars. In 2011, he uploaded his Halloween costume to RU-vid that featured 2 iPads using a FaceTime chat so it looked like he had a hole in his body. The video went viral overnight with 3M views and he decided to start posting monthly videos about creativity, science and design and now has over 77M total views and 350k subscribers.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

David ha ha. Lovely. They are so "different" that almost everbody has the same. They are so "innovative" that a new preinstallation of an app is called a new version of the phone. Having an OELD that is used since eons is the biggest innovation? For apple yes. To force you to give your fingerprints and now that they have collected enough fingerprints forcing you to give your facedata to connect it to your account? With no other choice by taking away the home button... A screen that is always on an reacts on anything you do with no possibility to turn it of? Yes it needs a big creative behind the marketing of such things to make people accept such things

I am thinking about a new type of restaurants: eating-spots in eating-spots, food keeps changing, chefs also rotate this is opposed to current restaurants, thanks to this rotation of food and chefs, eating-spots are more powerful than restaurants, along with that, there is an app, people vote for the food that will be cooked in the next days menu is influenced by the live input of the people via an app

Mark is the reason I have continued writing my book. Every, and I mean EVERY time I think about stopping when I'm writing, every time I doubt, Mark Rober comes up in my feed, my notifications, what have you. And every time, I keep writing. Because my idea is good enough, it is creative enough, Ya, sure maybe it's been done before, but I haven't written it yet. And maybe my version is the one the world needs. If it fails, if it flops, then too bad because I refuse to give up on this just yet.

Opened my eyes a bit since i am very unappreciated at work for all the work i put in and the creativity i show in the kitchen and still being on a lower position then some others who are good with the superior but have literally zero creativity or imagination. I am glad i am so naturally curious about everything unlike many people i met. This video gave me such a great motivation and morale boost so thanks for that.

What’s wrong with an older idea if it is still applicable and people are generally happy with it? How many were complaining about the lack of Internet before 1990? I sure wasn’t. I miss my pre-internet brain and have become thoroughly dependent on the internet now for just about everything. Progress always hurts and helps at the same time. Rober is a unique character. He’s found a way to tap into his creativity and share it with the world and profit from it. He’s not the only YTuber doing this but is by far one of its most financially successful. I’m glad he’s now inspiring children with STEM content and I hope a few engineers are indeed born out of their experience learning from Mark. But society as a whole can’t work with millions of people spending their time being creative and failing multiple times before they finally arrive at the creation of their dreams. Society would literally fall apart. We need people to do jobs that are repetitive and actually work by providing a service that helps people with their problems. Rober is extremely lucky that he can earn a living based on creative failing.

That guy literally put the rubber snake in his car... maybe he was assuming someone to come and say "hey, that's mine" similar to what happened when we as kids, broke up things and then just flew away. Some of his reaserch was about getting lucky and that reminded me of this podcast i listen to called how i built this with guy raz and the thing that is so interesting is that no matter how hard or long or short the struggle was for them the people he interviewed always cameout at the end with something they could have never imagined would be possible. Like how mark rober was amazed at how many subscribers he had then but he kept on working hard and now has over 13million subscribers . Much support for him and others

It helps to know people too. Good ideas made in the vacuum of space mean nothing to nobody. But an OK idea that is receptive to some people you know, and they support you, it could take off and be successful. Social Proof is everything.

Success depends on the actions or steps you take to achieve it. Building wealth involves developing good habits like regularly putting money away in intervals for solid investments. Financial management is a crucial topic that most tend to shy away from, and ends up haunting them in the near future.., I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life!!

The modern school system is terrible for the future of humanity because it teaches everyone to think the same way. 90 percent of the time, that may be the most efficient, but that other 10 percent nobody can do anything about it because they all have the same approach. I know it is hard to teach so many kids when most of them don't even care about school but they should at least make the standards less strict and more flexible
