HOW TO COMPLETE THE IMM 5257 APPLICATION FOR A
TEMPORARY RESIDENT VISA
To come to Canada you need either a visitor visa or an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), unless you are an American citizen or a French citizen who resides on St. Pierre or Miquelon in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
In Canada, a routine tourism or business visa is called a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV). If you have been issued a TRV, you will normally be allowed to stay in Canada for 6 months, as long as you successfully enter the country. TRVs are now often issued as "Multiple Entry" meaning that you can return to Canada after your first visit of less than 6 months, as long as the visa is valid.

Why are canadian applications outsourced to VSF Global? They are not a Canadian company yet decides who can come to Canada. Founded in Indai with there headquarters in Dubai it seems they take on the bulk of the work for applications to Canada. There reviews are terrible yet are country continues to outsource the work to VSF.

That is a good question. Presumably it was to save money (on staffing) and reduce contacts with each visa office but I doubt that's actually what happened. I don't know how long the contract is. VFS don't make any decisions about who can and can't come to Canada. All they do is forward on applications and provide application assistance, i.e. make sure everything is filled out and the fees are paid, that kind of thing. They have no actual role in the immigration process. It is strange they even have a contract with Canada - as it's hard to know what value they provide - but they cannot make any decisions about your application.

I don't understand why Invitation Letter is required for tourist visa.

It's not required so much as it is highly recommended. It depends upon other factors as to whether or not you can get a visa without one. I actually don't know why it became part of the process. It probably hurts tourism.

Hello, I am filling out the IMM5257 FORM and I have a doubt, in my passport it is not written "city/town". It says "place of birth" "ARG" Should I let it blank, write NA or write my city of birth even though it is not written ? thanks

Put your place of birth unless it explicitly states that it must be as displayed in your passport.

Greetings, I am currently living in Germany I have spouse visa or it can be called temporary visa. I want to visit my Uncle in Canada and he is going to send me an invitation latter but I am not working right now, is it possible for me to get a visa? I would be glad if you reply Thanks

He will have to show he can pay for your trip and you will have to prove you need to return to Germany after your trip.
