This is the best way to compost manure without any smell. It takes work but totally worth it if you live in an urban area or just don’t want any odor. Your garden will love you for it.

I'm confused. Your manure is below your plants root ball. It seems to me that you are burying some great manure and using it in an ineffective manner. I'm not trying to be judgmental. When farmers use chicken manure, they spread it sparsely across their fields, disc and plant. The manure is at root ball level and above. Your system, it seems to me starts and finishes close to or below the root ball level. How is that beneficial?

It's actually just a real pain in the ass to deal with quail poop. Its really the biggest issue with these birds. I prep beds with three-week-old manure and it smells like pure ammonia.

Wes I have 100 quails. I rear it in cages about 5 feet high from the soil. Their waste will fall down and each day I will throw in a layer of dead leaves or saw dust. It absorb its water content that’s what makes it smelly. Each month I will transfer all this carbon nitrogen mix for composting.
