Ola! Tudo bem? *Fazer* is definitely a power verb in Portuguese. As you noticed, *fazer* is also used when talking about duration. It would be equivalent to *It has been...* Ex. It has been 2 weeks that I started learning Portuguese. *Faz* duas semanas que comecei a estudar português. We also use *faz* when *for* is used in English to talk about duration. Ex. I've been studying Portuguese for two weeks. Estudo português *faz* duas semanas. *Faz* duas semanas que estudo português. I have not understood fazer. For example if "I will turn 37 year tommorow" what fazer is used for fazer is to do and to make. If possible please explain
Olá! In fact, there isn't a reasonable explanation for that. While in English we say 'I will turn 37 tomorrow', in Portugese we use 'fazer' - 'Vou fazer 37 anos amanhã.' 'Fazer' has some uses in Portuguese that differ from 'make' and 'do' in English.
