Leave it burning, then turn off the large tank valve,. When the flame goes out fully, then close the stove valve . This eliminates gas left in the lines.

My Grandfather had a very isolated cabin in Idaho. He cooked on a propane stove set up, just like this for many, many years! Even had an oven to bake pies, cakes, bread in, etc. If it's set up right, and you take reasonable precautions, it's perfectly SAFE.

Ohhh was this ever helpful. My late husband did all these types of things and I’m having to learn while maintaining a healthy or neurotic, depending on who you ask, attitude about safety. I remember the first time I used propane in my Van Conversion. I was spraying the hose on my stove every 5 minutes..and worse. But I would rather b safe than sorry. I have the 20 lb and the 5 lb and I couldn’t find anything until your video about this topic and how to convert. My concern was if the bigger tank would have to much pressure. So happy to hear I can easily convert while staying safe. Thanks again for very useful video.

Near the end of cooking, our local-owned family-operated propane shop says to shut 'OFF' the valve on the twenty-pound bottle, allowing the stove to sputter-out while using the propane in the hose. . Apparently, the odorant in propane can soften the hose lining, contributing to premature failure.

It depends on the appliance you're hooking it up to. That smaller hose I first attached to stove regulates the pressure so no added regulator is needed on this stove. Even if you dial down knob on stove it doesn't go down? Itll be somewhat loud on high, mine is that's normal

@largemarge1603
@largemarge1603 7 месяцев назад
@Kare, On later model camp-stoves, the steel tube screws into the side of the stove. The 'knob' on the steel line is the pressure regulator. . Without a regulator at the stove or at the twenty-pound five-gallon propane bottle, you get the entire pressure of the bottle. As you might imagine, a full bottle with five gallons has more pressure than a nearly-empty bottle with only a pound remaining. Thus, the need for a regulator for an even flow.

@adjectivenouns3484
@adjectivenouns3484 2 года назад
“Everybody does this” is neither true nor a sign of intelligence. In fact suggesting anyone to just refill these little green bottles with larger ones is not only dangerous but also unnecessary. For starters those little cylinders were not designed to withstand the stress of being refilled over and over again and while it might work a time or two it also might leak or even rupture, or worse. The whole point of the video is to forgo these little green things with an adapter piece, which is both smarter and if you care far less wasteful.

Make sure valve on attachment hose to stove open as well as the tank and knob on actual stove. Make sure all connections fully seated. If all open and fully seated and still nothing I would say its the adapter hose not engaging the connection. Ive heard some hoses not working with certain stoves

You need to use the regulator that comes with your camping stove. The hose or stiff line with the knob like I showed. In the comments people were referring to an additional regulator like the circular silver ones used with propane barbeques 👍

Sometimes the conversion hose when you screw it on doesn't engage the valve all the way. I've heard others complain in the hose reviews of this problem before. May need to try a different hose setup
@medic501
@medic501 Год назад
I had this problem with a Coleman two burner stove, trying to connect to a 15 lb tank - no gas flow to the burners. A pipe wrench and a bit of gorilla on the fitting where the bottle usually attaches let the pin depress the valve enough to open, allowing gas to flow, burner to light, coffee water to boil, etc! The same hose worked fine with hand tightening to a Little Buddy heater, so it must be how the different connections are machined...

@mikey, Does your five-gallon twenty-pounder propane bottle have a regulator? Does your camp-stove have a regulator? The two would indeed create significant restrictions.

No, not for Coleman type stoves. The RV quick connect lines run on low pressure through a 2-stage regulator. The Coleman stove runs on a higher pressure. There are some stoves designed to use the RV quick connect (Camp Chef and Blackstone Griddle, for example).
