Thank you, I just bought this mixer today and needed to connect it to my PC to improve my live stream audio and your description of how to do it has worked perfectly :-)
You're an awesome human being for doing this as clearly and simply as possible. I'm switching over from using a USB mic to an analog mixer --> PC setup and your video literally walked me step by step. Thanks again man.
Thank you for great videos. I have a request please 🙏🏻. Can you make a video that you are using your digital mixer to mixdown your project through your DAW? Please and explain how you connected or paired your mixer to your daw mixer to control your workflow please. Thank you
WOOW, Im So Happy That I Just Found This Video, So Detailed And You Explained Everything And Now I Will be ABle To Make My Mixer Work For Once. Thank You Very Much, You Just Got A New Subscriber Man. Greetings From Latvia :) Have A Beautiful And Loud Day
my problem is when im playing online games, ALL of my PC sound is playing through my mixer...i dont want taht. i still want to be able to monitor my mic in my headphones without actually picking pushing all of my PC sounds via my mic. please, big badaboom...pleas halp!
I can't tell you how much this helped me i always thought having the gain cranked up so high and the volume in windows down so much was wrong you changed my life !!!! thank you
Great Video! Unlike the ones that gave me headache for not using camera stand. Question though, if I can plug in my mixer to a computer directly, would I still need USB interface to record guitar insturments or mic audio? I was able to do it and sound is still fine.
What if I Want to Connect my Mixer Out to "Line IN " in PC and need to input Music from same PC (Green Out) (to "Stereo IN" in Mixer) Like a Little Karaoke Machine and Record Them in Audacity same PC (Will it Destroy my Mixer or Sound Chips in my Motherboard)
Great video, I have Behringer mixer Xenyx X2442USB for playing out. I just picked up an EV Subwoofer, How can I connect my EV-ELX200-12PS active Subwoofer to the Behringer. Appreciate your advice, Thank you.
Peace Unto You! I have a quick question. Wouldn’t this set up be good for live performances? Like if I plug my speakers and mic into the mixer and then use those cables to plug into my pc wouldn’t the sound from the pc (instrumentals) go to the speakers that’s plugged into the mixer?
Matthew, I can connect my USB Yeti Microphone to my PC and record directly into Audacity. Why bother using a Mixer? I thought a MIxer can do the job of enhancing your voice and not using Audacity. Can you explain?
If you are using a USB mic you do not need a mixer. Audacity is just software to record the audio, you need software to record the audio regardless of using a mixer, audio interface, or usb mic.
Help !!!! I have euro desk Beringer, I have the output to the computer, and all my keyboards to the mixer. I had no problems using wavpad For recording and playback, the computer was out to the amplifier ". Great """. Now iv purchased mixpad. Multi track recording software. And when I record a track it's great. BUT "!! I try to record a second track listening to the first. It is recording the first track along with it Aaarrggh". Is my wiring wrong. Also it has a millisecond delay giving it a weird sound. ". That would be expected". What is the way to wire up to stop this situation " ?? So I can have the amplifier, the mixer and computer, letting me , record, multi track, and playback, thank you. . great videos keep up the work, .
Here is my setup Avid eleven rack Williams allegro III piano/keyboard Machine mk3 Komplete Kontrol S61 Pyle pmx63bt mixer Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface JBL 5” MK2 monitors Acoustic Guitar Electric Guitar Shure SM7B microphone with cloud lifter Cubase 9.5 Pro HP Omen 17” laptop with mic input and 3USBs one taken by external ssd OBS studio - for streaming Zoom - for music lessons What’s you recommendation for how to hook it all up? I don’t want to use the by or usb of the mixer it introduces noise in my signal. Also all my cables are balanced to reduce the noise.
Please, how I plug the mixer to my HP Envy laptop, only has a one combo jack? Can you Matthew or anybody else help? I'm at a lost. Thanks so very much.
What if I want to do the opposite: Is it possible to connect a PC/Laptop/Mac to the mixer (i e send the sound from the computer, like a youtube music video) to the mixer (so it can be "mixed) and then out to the computers speakers? (I have separate speakers for the computer, can these be connected to the mixer and be used as speakers?)
Thanks man!! that helped me a lot! I use my YAMAHA MG166CX as a mixer to plug into my pc using the RCA - P2 cable. but when I open the GUITAR RIG app theres that noise coming out of the speaker even tho when I set to listen to my line in device on my pc the sound is clear..cant find a way to fix it :(
I have the same Behringer Mixer Q1202USB in the video. How can I record and monitor my voice at the same time? I used USB cable to send sound from mixer to pc. When I record from my mic, listening a playback on my DAW, it cuts my headphones (so I can't monitor myself while singing). So, I can either listen to playback track or listen to my voice while recoding, not both. Help!!
How do I send audio from the PC that has effects added to it in my DAW back to the mixing board then out to say a set of speakers or external device so set up mixer into PC. PC adds FX to audio in a DAW program, send that now processed audio back to the mixer to be sent to a radio or speakers etc etc
Can you do one where you connect Depusheng mixer to a F998 sound card and to your laptop. I bought a depusheng 5 channel multi -function mixer console, this mixer has also an audio interface with phantom power for a xlr microphone that i purchase. So i run the mixer through the sound card, and the sound card to the laptop, the xlr mic sounds great but the overall sound of the laptop sounds low, i am using also FX sound program.
i have win 10 home version , and a soundblaster Z SE , then i have an external analog mixer with the line out going to the line in on the soundblaster and i am getting latency .... i had this same setup on another computer with win 7 and it worked perfect ... why is win 10 giving me latency ... its making it impossible to record or just sing along with karaoke files and winamp ... whats the solution here
question: I'm running my pedalboard into my mixer, my pc is in another channel via RCA-in so I can hear backing tracks for example. My mixer does also have a Rec Out which is also RCA and everytime I plug everything in the P.A speakers are doing this "fart" noise. What can I do to remedy do I got a situation here of a feedback-loop I can't get away from?
This seems simple. You still can record like this for church choir, right? Why would someone use usb audio interface in the middle of mixer and pc? I am not getting that method if any advantages with this method.
Hi.. Can I ask some question about the connection? My mixer was connected to pc , I also can monitor my mic From the mixer and it is working. But my PC does not see any sound coming from the mixer, any idea?
Check to make sure your mixer is set to send the signal to whatever outputs you are plugged into. If it is and you are plugged into the correct input on your computer then the problem is in the sound settings on your computer or input settings in your software.
@@redhorsereincarnated5040 i have similar problem everything works but my pc doesnt say "external mic" or "external mixer" idk if it has to say that on input settings. Does the input jack have to be TRRS or TRS is fine to recognize my mic on my mixer?
Hello there, nice video. I have a focusrite scarlett 18i20 and I have it connected to my main desktop computer via usb c to usb a. But now I want to be able to make a connection for when I collaborate with another music producer and he or she brings her laptop to playback a project. I would then have to connect a cable from the laptops headphone jack to one of the available inputs of my scarlett interface, right?
It's good, You are still checking comments in this video. This is the only one video i found, about connection a mixer and PC sound card, which has the all aspects of covering in explanation. My Line In port of PC sound card is not available, cause i remapped it into Front Speaker Out. I need two outs of Front Speaker Out port. I didn't want to use Y splitter to get two sources of Front Speaker Out. I guess, it's fine like this? The only from Line In blue and from Mic In pink ports i can have the second Front Speaker Out, with remapping. The other ports are not supported... But i can use Mic In port of PC sound card, remapped into the Line In. As You said, Line In blue port is same as Mic In remapped into the Line In? You presented to us, how to connect non USB a mixer with PC sound card. But i want to ask You, is it same with simple karaoke sound mixer too? If You have a time, can You explain to me, how to connect this device to PC sound card? Should i use Front speaker Out or Headphones Out, to bring a music from a PC to this device? Or it doesn't important? Can i use any of them? Can i connect out music of this device to the Mic In of PC sound card remapped into the Line In, to be able to recording? My only concern, is to not screw up PC sound card with some wrong connections... If You have a time, pls answer. PS. I have had a problem to send message. Maybe You have them more than one with same text...
Volume??? Got my laptop connected to my mixer to pa speaker. Pa speaking volume set half way, mixer set to U and what should my pc volume be set at? 100% or just personal preference. New to this trying not to blow a speaker. I would use my main to adjust my volume from all
Trying to hoop up NestKast to my Behringer1204 to broascast live..it says its simple lol It says to run main out of mixer into line in from your sound card??? Not very computer smart..Help
That was some fantastic info on how to setup the mixer to the computer....I'm sure it's the same setup on a laptop using windows 10 I hope lol....thanks for sharing this to us....🤘🎶🤘
I'm trying to record guitar through my mixer which is plugged in via USB but it refuses to work. I even have sound from my computer playing through the mixer into audacity and it records just fine but if I play guitar through the same exact setup audacity doesn't pick it up. I'm at a loss. Any advice?
this connection is smart but you forgot about latency. Latency is the bigest in this way. Connection with the focusrite is much better but not cheaper. Anyway good video.
Since it's a line in I assume the audio only travels one way? What if you wish to connect your headphones and monitors to the mixer as well, and have them play audio from the computer?
If you're just trying to record the raw live sound from a mixer for something like a church service or a house party, this will do just fine. If you're wanting something for more "home studio" style recording and want to mix your stuff, you'd want an audio interface by that point. But if you just want a recording what is happening live on a mixing board, plugging straight into the computer isn't a big deal, just make sure you are using the mixer for your speakers and not the computer, as that's when latency would become an issue.
If you want to record in higher sample rates than 48 kHz, like 96 kHz or 192 kHz, you'll need an audio interface that can do that. Otherwise, if you plug it straight into the line-in jack on your computer's on-board sound card, or use the USB on the mixer, the quality will be 48 kHz, because that is what the ADC (analog-digital converter) in your computer's sound card as well as in the mixer is capable of. Whether or not 48 kHz is enough or you need 96 kHz or 192 kHz is another discussion, and there are videos out there that talk about that, and there are sample audio out there that allow you to hear the difference. Usually 48 kHz is enough for most people, but if you want the highest of quality, more is desired.
I use a windows 10 laptop with only headphone port and inbuilt mic. On pc it appears (mic in/ headphone/speakerout/ headset) using the rca 2 track on mixer 802 xenxy with xlr mic. So i cant tell which mic is used which of the list is for line in
Came across your video. I am connecting music currently from my laptop using the headphone jack and running that through a direct box then into my Yamaha tf5 digital board. I am using Easyworship software. Currently when I play any song either through Easy worship or media player once the song finishes and the computer recognizes its not going to play another song yet, it makes a loud noise. Almost like an idle thump so to speak. Trying to get rid of that noise. Any thoughts?
hi matthew i watch this video and I try the mixer of ZMX122fx microphone it work on output level but its doesn't on my computer I don't know where to start
Bro, how do I connect a A&H PA2 to a computer for zoom live stream . I need the online audience and stage speaker to interact also. I have focusrite 2i2. There is no stereo out in the mixer? Pls help
Hi can you help me please i've own bookshelf speakers but they only come with 3.5mm Audio Cable but i would like to use the mixer with the speakers on pc what type of cable do i need to get it connected via mixer to pc thank you
We have the profxv2 mixer that has a USB that i will be connecting to my computer. Now I see another setup where the soundboard is connected to an audio interface to computer. which is better? do both get same result, i mean stereo output?
I have a mgp24x that I'm trying to connect to the focusrite to run to my computer to record the audio. I can't figure out how to do it. Would you be able to assist me please?
Can anyone help me? I’ve followed the steps but when I plug in to the mic jack of my laptop it doesn’t pick up the audio. There is no option for me that says “line in” can anyone help me?
Im not clear as to why anyone would want to Connect a Mixer to a Audio interface. Does not the Mixer have all the features of the Audio interface? Cant the Mixer do every thing the Audio Interface can do and even more? If so then why connect them both together?? Help me understand this..
Audio interfaces have better quality ADC's (analog-digital converters) than the ones in mixers (for usb connection to the computer) and the ones in sound cards (for the line-in connection). By better quality, I mean higher sample rates and bit depth. So you can record in 96 kHz or 192 kHz sample rates for example rather than at the standard 48 kHz. Other than that, mixers probably do have all the other features audio interfaces have (and more). Maybe with a more expensive audio interface, the electrical components may be higher quality, but that I wouldn't know.
ok now what if i get to the point where i have plugged my line in cable to my computer it recognizes it but no audio is being detected by the computer my mixer is detecting it just fine but my computer wont receive it.
At minute 9:19, where do you put the speakers? Did you connect the computer to the place where the signal comes out for the speakers, (the left output and the right output) ?
How do i connect my my mixer to the computer (I will use my computer youtube karaoke using pc instead of the smart tv app) and get the sound out to my home theater?
Hi Matthew, saw this video as i was looking for tutorial on how to connect Mixer to PC, the question i have is how to OUT it on a speaker when your doing it to a live audience.
I have a question, I have the Behringer Xenyx QX1002USB connected as you explain in the video through the Line In connection but, it will be better, in terms of quality or other, to connect via USB? Thank you in advance!! 👍
I think it will be roughly the same, because the ADC (analog-digital converter) in the Xenyx USB has a sample rate of 48 kHz. I couldn't find any information on the bit depth however. The ADC on your computer's on-board sound card is likely going to be 48 kHz. If you want to record at a higher sample rate and/or bit depth (like 96 kHz or 192 kHz rather than 48 kHz, and 24-bits rather than 16-bits), you'll need an audio interface. This is sort of the dilemma I am in, because my laptop does not have a line-in port for stereo input, so I'm looking into audio interfaces. To me it's overkill, because the mixer already fulfills a lot of the functions of the audio interface, and the only thing it's missing is a high quality ADC. I may have to do it anyway in the future. As for whether or not 48 kHz is enough, or you need 96 kHz or even 192 kHz is another discussion. For most purposes, it should be enough. If you want very high audio accuracy esp. at the higher frequencies of the human hearing band (like 12 Hz to 20 Hz), which you can look up samples for and hear how they sound, then you may need 96 kHz or higher. On the other hand, sound quality can easily be affected by things like vibrations in your microphone mounting or background noise, so unless you deal with those problems, a move from 48 kHz to 96 kHz might not make a difference. I suppose it's good to future-proof yourself though.
By any chance with the output on the line in i also can receive in the mixer the output on the computer and played on the speakers connected on the mixer?
I plug in my Rockville line 8 mic mixer to the back of my pc. And I plug in my mic to the mixer but whenever i test the audio and review it, it sounds buzzy. help?
Thanks a lot for the tips about mixer (Mine is a xenix 1202FX). I've a mac no so complicated settings but it works very well. So I can use my mic without audio interface. :).
Matthew-- Since there are now other types of PC input jacks, namely 4-conductor 1/8th inch mini, you needed to include that in this video. They require an adaptor. And your last statement during playback-- "we have nice clear audio"-- is not true. I'd like you and all the listeners here to notice the major difference in your vocal tone on playback vs. the tone during your narration. The playback tone is thick & muddy in the low frequency area. And I knew it would be before even hearing it. This is because during setup you put the EQ controls to '0' (or flat) on the mixer. This would be correct for most any instrument input, but ALL dynamic vocal mics have a built-in bass boost when you are within 5 inches or closer to the mic. Many mixers have a "Low Cut" button (sometimes called a High Pass Filter or HPF) and this is what it's for. Engage that button to get rid of unwanted exaggerated bass. Your mixer does not have that button so you need to do it with the EQ knob marked "LO". Cut it back to at least 10 o'clock.
Hello. Feel free to list the other input types and adaptors required. Also, I intentionally left the audio unprocessed to illustrate the a clean signal was recorded using this method. Feel free to equalize and mix your signal to your situation. Thank you.
Yoooo!!! How's the EP moving? And what are the benefits of this device? Looking at a secondhand 802 but no clue what to do with it (main AI is a Scarlett 2i2)
Dude, you're a life saver! I'm a new asmrtist and I've been hitting my head on my table thinking I spent hundreds of dollars on a wrong mixer with no usb connector. You saved me man, seriously.
