Needng a "Media Mod" or any other proprietary GoPro adapter is horseshit. Up to.GoPro 4, one could use any 3.5mm external Mic. But then GoPro removed that feature from GoPro 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and most likely GoPro 12. Why? To make more money selling proprietary crap just to use an external Mic.
i could kick my ass for buying the gopro 12 and thinking i could finally pair a Bluetooth mic from e.g rode wirelessly. this shit is ridiculous. not that i have to spend more money, but with all the attachments the camera is getting bulky, unhandy, battery replacement is a compete fuzz, and worst of all the 180€ gimbal is not working properly, especially when in need to disassemble everything when battery replacement is needed and rebalancing and fine tuning is needed every hour of footage. I spend 700-800€ in equipment and the shit is just sitting in the cabin. the 4k camera and good stabilizer don't matter if it's unusable.
So does the wire that goes to wireless mic and then the mod have to just have 2 rings in each side of the jacks or does it matter if 1 side has 2 and other side has 4 rings on it would this offect it at all or should i just use a jack that both sides just ha e 2 rings on each side.i look foward to your answers on this thank you.
So o matter what you need the media mod to put a wireless mic? I’ve got a hero ten and want to add wireless mic. I have the adapter but it broke but seems like I need the adapter or a media mod. Seems expensive to buy a $100 do,lar media mod then a wireless mic
You can get one yes, it comes with the gopro volta kit. It was good as you can keep powered up all day, but honestly I didn't like the feel of it. It's a strange ,small tripod.

So there is no decent bluetooth mics available to get good audio without media mod? Using media mod prevents the use of protective case which actually makes this action camera being just a small camera - which actually is not so small after adding all this equipment around it.. Action footage with protective cover would need completely separate audio equipment and post processing to sync with video. Am I right?
What are you looking to do? Motovlogg? Biking? You could connect something like your AirPods to it if you were doing that so it’s still in the protective case. Just the sound quality will be hit and miss compared to a normal mic. It’s fairly durable the GoPro but the media mod means it’s not waterproof, but I believe there is a helmet called the Cardo Packtalk Edge if you were doing motorcycle vlogs. Alternatively you can just get a foam wind cover and put that round it, audio with that is actually not too bad, but if it’s in already in a protective case that won’t work. I just tend to use mine without anything if I’m recording action stuff.
@@VlogTechVibes I got the gopro as one-for-all solution easy to carry and keep in hand where ever I go .. sometimes with motorcycle sometimes with car - or working in factory or garage .. I was expecting to just use a bit more money to buy premium bluetooth mic instead of the usual Voyager headset but couldn't really find any for this purpose. All paths seem to end up using media mod..
Media mod is the easiest way to connect, if you’ve got your phone on you most of the time then you could use something like the Hohem mic 01 or the Hollyland Lark m2
Unfortunately the media mod will not fit with my Inkee Falcon gimbal. The mod is too thick. And, yes, I have ordered and tried it. Truly wish could use.
Yeh they are all from Rode. The Me has automatic gain assist and the Pro is probably their best wireless mic to date. I had the go but then upgraded to the ME because it has a mic in the receiver which you can turn on for second audio as well as the mic in the transmitter. What are you going to be using it for?
If your going to do interviews definitely get the me or the pro because the gain assist options are way better, it will mean you won’t have to mess around with settings when people are too loud / too quiet
How noisy is the vehicle you’ll be driving? You could go for a shotgun or wireless. My go two are the Rode VideoMic Go II and the Rode Wireless ME, if you need to you can plug a Lav mic into the ME if the sound isn’t as good as you want it to be

we don't need to select Line in option in gopro settings? i hav noticed selecting LineIn option gives audio that has kind of noice cancellation. which one gives the best audio, std audio or Line In ?
No if you’re using the media mod then you can just plug and play microphones. You could get a wireless lav mic with one click noise cancellation if you wanted some better audio. Check out my video where I test 11 different mics, see what you think of the sounds
Are you trying to connect the m1 or m2? Both receivers should have a 3.5mm jack. But to connect them to the GoPro you’d need the mic adapter for the hero 6 then you’d need to connect them via TRS cable. You wouldn’t be able to connect just via usb c.
Can you connect a mini lavalier microphone to GoPro 12 by using just the new Bluetooth connection without using the media mod? If yes what should I look for in the microphone before I buy it so I make sure it will work with GoPro 12 . Thank you
You can connect airpods and headphones and use the mics from them but it won’t sound great, or you could use a Bluetooth mic that designed for your phone but again it probably won’t sound great. I’d use the media mod if you want the best sound quality
Just got a purple panda lav mic, tried using it with the media mod and couldn’t get it to work. I used the trs (2 black ring) connector it came with as well. Still no audio. I made sure the settings were on standard mic or standard mic +. Couldn’t get it to work unfortunately. Any suggestions? I would tap and try to talk, I could see the green lights on the go pro screen staying static and not responding to me talking or tapping the mic.
So, gopro hero 12 finally has bluetooth connectivity so that you still have to buy this media mod and use an external mic... Only headphones which end up having terrible audio, can connect wirelessly....
Rubbish isn’t it. DJI action 4 has Bluetooth connection using the DJI mic but even that is looking like the sound isn’t that great when connected via Bluetooth.

@@VlogTechVibes im sorry i forgot theres different versions, its the movo wmx-2-c so the reciever gets its power from the device so when i plug in the reciever to the media mod it doesnt turn on
@@VlogTechVibes A friend advised me to record the sound separately on the mics, than in editing to add and sync the sound that was recorded on the microphones, to my video in the video editing software.
I have a mic that uses a blue tooth but needs to be connectwd to phone like the middle connection on the media mod, so would that work, using that connection

Yeh you could do it for 15 min slots maybe? Set your phone up for one camera angle and your GoPro for another angle and just put it all together in post production

You could try using a USB to 3.5mm jack, so you plug in the 3.5mm into your GoPro and it should convert the audio, they are about £4/5 on Amazon so it might be worth having a go and trying that
What mic are you using? The media mod by itself or a different mic? You can't really adjust the gain on the hero 11. You could go into settings and mic settings and try and change the mic output to see if that makes a difference.
Wireless ME is probably a good option as it has automatic gain assist. You could get that and plug your lav mic into it. Have you tried just the media mod? GoPro with a foam wind cover?
Do you mean directly plugging it into the media mod? Or directly into the GoPro? You could try plugging directly into the media mod, but you might not get clear audio or no audio
Why Go pro didnt use a decent front and rear mic in the media mod (like the one you're having to add), is beyond me. Those "added" external mics completely change the form factor.

Best way is probably a foam cover, I’m going to do a video on this soon. But if you just type in foam cover for GoPro on Amazon it will come up. Should improve the Audio and you won’t need the media Mod. Don’t think there is any Bluetooth solutions as you need to plug something into the audio Jack.
I don’t have a GoPro Max 360 but I’ve done a bit of research and it doesn’t look like you can connect a microphone. It has an usbc slot doesn’t it? You could try and attach a mic via usb-c but I don’t think it’ll recognise it or work.

How do you know after plugging in the external mic that the media mod microphone is not the one picking up the audio? from what I gather when you plug the ext mic in that it takes over but there is no other way to confirm on the menu system?
If you use a longer cable and move the mic away and then tap on it, you’ll be able to see the sound bar moving up and down and also you’ll be able to tell. Check out my latest video, you can tell the media mod sound from other mics.
If a 'wireless' BT mic requires plugging in a 3.5 mm connector, and the bottom screw mount is used for a tripod, how do you attach (mount) a battery pack to power everything for an extended recording? Do battery packs come with a screw on top and threaded hole on the bottom so they can be sandwiched between the Media Mod and the tripod?
@@alanlaity5802 you could just buy the GoPro Volta, which is probably the easiest way to extend the battery, and it fits with the media mod. If your recording in one long shot, your GoPro will most likely overheat and turn off at some point
You can put it on a tripod and use the Media Mod, you'll just need either a GoPro adapter to 1/4 screw to put on the tripod or you can actually replace the GoPro legs on the bottom and buy a piece of gear that has the 2 legs and a 1/4 screw.
Yep, right rip off ha! If you want a cheap option then get a foam sponge and use that or just use the GoPro quite near to you. Check out my video where I test out 11 mics, see which one you think sounds good!
