How to Connect Pavo20 with DJI FPV Remote Controller 2, Night Eagle HD Betaflight - Build Part 3

Last Part of the build.
Showing how to configure the Pavo20 first time if you want to connect a DJI FPV remote controller 2.
Pavo 20 has a ELRS or a TBS receivers as standard that does work from the box, but to get a DJI remotecontroller 2 to work, then you need to change some settings.
First update firmware on both the VTX, if it's a caddx vista or Runcam link you use the DJI Assistant 2 (FPV series)
Also use this to activate the air unit.
Download Betaflight software from their homepage to connect to the FC with the included USB-C cable.
In ports tab: Change the Serial Rx to UART 5
In the Receiver tab: Receiver mode to Serial (via UART)
Serial receiver provider should be SBUS
CLI tab:
type:
set sbus_baud_fast = ON
type:
save
Now you should be able to get the controller to connect the the VTX and see inputs happen I Receiver tab.

Thank you so much!!! I was working on a Pavo Pico with the 2nd FC and I could not make the DJI controller to move the bars on the receicer tab on Betaflight, after HOURS... your video saved the day. I needed to set the sbus_baud_fast to "On", Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

You hardly even notice a difference. I only noticed when flying under my deck that without the lights I couldn't see that many details in the pitch black planks as I could with the lights on. But will try it in even darker place.

Hello good video, could you help me I bought the paco 20 with the dji 03 and the radio dji v2 I can connect the 03 unit to the radio but I can't connect the radio to the drone board,I mean the radio doesn't connect to the drone only to the DJI 03 unit,Do you have any idea how to solve this, thank you very much

I Don't have a O3 unit my self so haven't tried so not a 100% sure but I think it's the same settings as I did here on this video

I have connected my pavo pico the camera to goggles pair and so does the controller but the propellers won’t start

Think you need to check the Arm function that it moves in betaflight when you push it, also check that it moves enough on the line so that it actually triggers the function. Also your throttle need to be all the way down for the arming.

can anyone help me get the more telemetry on the display? mine looks just like shown here but I seen other pilots telemetry that shows time on air and more battery telemetry, Like I will like to know when to bring the quad back. like what's a good voltage to bring it back?

Hi, I think i Managed to get it to work on mine now. In Betaflight in Ports on UART5 i set the Periphials to VTX(MSP + DISPLAYPORT) this on on both uart4 and 5. Dont know why but after that it works on my goggles.

I wish this was possible with the goggles v2. I want to use my dji controller 2 with vista and goggles v2. I guess they will never come out with a firmware for that to work.

Yeah sadly locked by DJI so they want you to "upgrade"

How did you bind the goggles and remote also did you have any issues with updating the firmware on your vtx dji won’t let me update to the latest firmware

Controller binds with the VTX with the bind button as this will just communicate with the fc and the goggles. Check that you have correct DJI assistant installed there are different versions for the O3 and the "fpv unit" these Runcam Links are.

The Digital gov system only connects to the DJI controller. But if you have a drone like this they usually have their own receiver like a ELRS receiver that works with other controllers like a radiomaster boxer and others. This video is a work around if you only have a DJI controller like me.

You are sure the remote connects to the Link/air unit? You should be able to get the picture and start recording with the button on the controller for example. Otherwise the same setup as me with a Runcam Link and DJI fpc remote 2 and goggles 2/integra?

I have image on goggle 2 from the 03air unit and the remote controller 2 is connected to 03 air unit, I just can not connect the remote controller 2 to the flight controller, following your steps.

Can the DJI RC Controller 2 be connected to all the BetaFPV Pavo series, I want to buy the Pavo35?

Yes it should be possible to setup the Pavo35 with a DJI controller 2. It's the O3 unit that receives the signal and sends it to the flight controller. But the settings in betaflight won't propably be the same as in my video as the flight controllers are not the same in Pavo20 vs 35

Hello, I bought a Pavo 20. Before installing O3, I was flying with 2-cell and 3-cell batteries without any problem. But after installing O3, it does not fly at all with 2-cell batteries, and with 3-cell batteries, it flies at 90% throttle and with difficulty. where is the problem from ? I have a 2 cell battery : tattu 450mah 75c and a 3 cell battery : boslipo 650mah 95c

Sorry I really don't know what could cause this if there is not some kind of a throttle limit active in betaflight? Or the propeller upside down then they get alot worse performance. Might be better to check on fpv forum on reddit

Hi I am new to the channel, I have a special problem with a Whoop Drone similar to the AcroBee75 HD O3 DJI/PNP, When you connect the Battery Nothing happens, I order a new Battery Balance it, same issue, I can go the the Flight Controller using Betaflight and I also update the DJI part with the DJI assistant Consumer, still nothing. Can you give me some pointers on how to do some more diagnostics , I will appreciate

When you connect the battery it should boot up the FC with a bunch of beeps and some led Lights should turn on etc, if that's not happening then there is somekind of problem with the battery connection or the FC might be broken?

Hey i changed receiver tbs to sbus. o3 unit 3 in 1 yellow wise was missed. i add it. but dji fpv controller 2 not see in the receiver page. i dont have uart 5 . Could it be because of this? Other than that I do everything the same

If it's another drone or a different Flight controller then it might be a completely different UART you connect the O3 unit on. So you might need to check the manual for that FC.

If the drone flips over then it almost certainly propellers that are installed incorrectly or motor spinning the wrong way.

When I connect the drone to Betaflight and the battery at the same time, the battery heats up and goes down very quickly

Battery does drain Pretty quickly on these but should still last atleast 15-20 minutes or more if you have a fan cooling it so it doesn't overheat the VTX But If the battery heats up quickly then something is really wrong. You might have a short?

the battery only discharges if it is connected to the drone and if the drone is connected to betaflight it only happens if both things are connected at the same time@@Nordic_Drone_Explorer

Not sure why you wouldn't see that, Is it a DJI FPV controller you have or something else? Can you see anything happen in any of the aux channels when you click the button? It should be connected to one of the functions/modes

I have the dji v2 controller and the dji 03 and in my betaflight the user1 that is seen in the videos does not appear to connect the LEDs, do I have to connect something to the betaflight to have user 1 in the betaflight? Thank you @@Nordic_Drone_Explorer

@@angeladavid100 Think you need to check witch AUX channel that is effected by The button and that's the one you want to assign as USER1. So if the button on the controller is connected to another function that's the one you change. Beta FPV explains this on their page too betafpv.com/products/pavo-series-cob-led-strip

So if you just type: set sbus_baud_fast You should get a prompt showing if it turned on or off already Should look like this # set sbus_baud_fast sbus_baud_fast = OFF Allower values: OFF, ON Then you can type the: set sbus_baud_fast = ON save If this is not working I'm not sure what is wrong.

@@Nordic_Drone_Explorer it was the wrong firmware, now I flashed with sbus but still not working. This is all I did: Set in the googles sbus fast mode Set Uart 2 in betafligjt as rx input Set in receiver tab to Uart and sbus Ofc Bound the v2 Controller to the o3 (confirmed by googles) It’s driving me crazy. What else could be wrong. Pinout is also correct (plug and play) but checked twich

@@stockspieler-yv1fs well if it's a Pavo20 you have then the Rx is on UART 5 as they changed it with the new FC not the same on Pico or other drones.

@@Todd_G_FPV it 100% is this. Don't really like them as they have pretty much a monopoly on drones .. And no one can really beat their camera and receiver/drone tech at the moment, as they have poured so much Money on it. it's seems almost impossible for other's to catch up.

If you just type in: set sbus_baud_fast And press enter does it show status? It should show if it's turned on or off in the response. Also don't type in the # yourself.

Try 'get sbus_baud_fast" But first, try to hit tab halfway through sbus_ to see if it auto completes. If it doesn't, then you must be in an older/wrong firmware that doesn't recognize this feature yet

@@afilizzola5500 You are right, the problem turned out to be in the firmware. But the thing is that I already had the newest firmware, so I decided to install the oldest firmware, and surprisingly, in it I was able to enter set sbus_baud_fast = ON. After that, I returned the latest firmware 4.4.3, and now you can also enable sbus_baud_fast in it. I don’t know how it works, but most importantly I’m happy with the result. Many thanks for the help!
