How to control your solder joints is a neat , clear guide showing a very simple soldering trick which helps control the amount of solder applied to your solder joints , thus avoiding spreading solder into unwanted areas on your PCB's and make soldering unresisted PCB's or RF traces much neater and safer.
Using video demonstrations and photographs throughout this soldering tutorial you can see this great method in working action and hopefully be impressed by the finished results
If you find this soldering tutorial of use please like and subscribe so as to not miss out on any future soldering releases on my Mr SolderFix RU-vid channel.
Thank you for your time and good luck with all your soldering projects.

I am a software engineer. These videos are making me go buy a soldering iron and start practicing soldering :) Thank you.

Hi , thank you for your comment. I'm glad the videos have inspired you to purchase a soldering iron . Buy a few cheap practice kits from eBay , Amazon etc and away you go . In time you will get to know what tools , temperatures etc you will need . I've covered many subjects , tools , methods , cleaning , solders etc in my videos . Hopefully I can help you along the way . Thanks again , and good luck with all your soldering , you will get there 👍

I am very pleased to report that I've revisited my previous SMD PCB soldering disaster, using your technique. I was able to remove all of the bridges on the 44 quad pin IC as well as the blobs of solder from the previously tinned R & C pads with flux & solder wick, to provide a flat surface. Then, one by one, proceeded to populate the SMDs with far greater success than with soldering paste, even with a template. Your excellent videos have been a game changer for my projects. Fine soldering wire, fine soldering tip, and lots of flux are the keys to success, plus drag the tip away from the legs to pull the solder away, instead of along the legs... exactly as you're demonstrating. Thank you so much! Cheers! 😎

Hi , thank you for watching the video and commenting , much appreciated. I used to watch solder running on parts of the board that had no solder resist on . Sometimes on RF boards this would cause problems . Decided to try some Kapton tape as an experiment to stop the flow and it worked perfectly . Hopefully the video can help a few people solve the issues I used to have . Thanks again , take care 👍

Hi , thank you for your comment. You are right the SMFL200D flux I used to get in spray cans has now been discontinued. I've used it for many years and loved it . They still sell it in a flux pen but I'm not a fan of flux pens. I still have a couple of cans left but once I've used these I will be on the lookout for a decent replacement . Maybe someone on RU-vid can tell us about a good alternative. Thanks again , take care 👍

I’m having hard time to solder smd capacitors because they’re too tiny and keep flying off even with the lowest fan setting on the hot air station. Could I use the tape to keep smd capacitors in place (covering it entirely) and blast it with hot air?

Hi , thank you for your comment. The KAPTON TAPE I use which is the proper stuff ( no cheap fake imitation ) is made by 3M . Code is 3M 5413. It comes in various widths 6mm , 12mm , 25mm etc. It is expensive but shop around , Farnell , RS Components, Rapid Online , Mouser , DIGIKEY are all reputable companies but there is others . Hope that helps , thanks again 👍
