How to convert a tarp for use with a wood stove. If you’ve ever wanted to have a hammock and tarp set up, with the option of having a wood stove with you under you tarp, then this video is for you. • A Tutorial on How To R...
That's pretty cool Mate. There's a product called Tear-aid type a that would allow you to do that without sewing. It's designed to repair sails and is waterproof, uv and heat resistant. Thanks for sharing your ideas! Keep up the great work!
@@davidwebster5235 It comes with a primer to clean the surface with and it indicates that it will repair tarps. I don't know how it will stick to silnylon if that is what the tarp is made of.
Under the tarp in the hammock with a stove going. I just put an adjustable elbow on the stove and angled the pipe under the edge of the tarp. I have a bipod supporting the pipe. Great video. Cheers
I’ve got the same tarp and hammock. But I would have just pulled the leading edge of the tarp back without modding it. But enjoyed the process Shane 👍🏻
Nice work. I've also been thinking about cutting a hole into my DD XL tarp, then add some Velcro and fit in a stove jack so that I have the option of using my pipe stove with my hammock. Glad it worked out for you. Cheers
looks good shane, you can also use seam sealer on the stitches and the edges to make it watertight and a velcro flap on the stovepipe hole makes it complete.
Awsome video my brother. I think I’ll do this tomorrow I’ve never thought of using the bbq liner for a stove jack great idea. Take over there be safe greetings fro Island Lake Congregation in Orangeville ontario
Excellent intro just WOW!! really had me captivated and I re-watched a few times haha I've been pondering doing this exact thing myself not for a hammock but just for the functionality of a tarp tent!! Stay strong&healthy safe&happy!!(=✌💚
Isle of Wight Bushcraft it’s an ocean sea kayak. Lots of storage space, spray deck etc. I have been using a Nortent hot tent this winter. That and the www all fit in the hatches and three people can take loads of gear in the boats. I now prefer the Sierra Madre hammock with the DD tarp in the summer. I really need to get out soon. Cheers
Since you plan to have the tarp in awning mode with the stove jack near the edge, If you put the flume at a 10° angle you could have it go out the big open side rather than through the tarp.
Watching your video und installing a stove jack so close to the edge of the tarp is complete unneccessary. A much smarter solution is to install the smokepipe at the back of the stove by cutting a an additional pipe connection at the back end of the stove (or simply using a 45 degree pipe knee on the existing pipe hole) Then install stove pipe any length you want horizontaly to the edge of the tarp, installing a 45 degree pipe knee upwars, insert smoke pipe and you are done. For shure you need some support for the pipe, but that is simple. this wa you also have many poptions to place you stove at almost any place you want under your tarp.
@@IsleofWightBushcraft well I guess that stove took up quite a bit of room in your backpack......nice solution, but think I might have only cut three sides of cut out and sewen in a webbing margin, then used Dutch lace or velcro to temporarily secure the heat resistant flue pannel so that you can minimise the impact of the perminent modification, maximise the stuffability of the tarp and still use it as normal with out the flue. A telescoping pocket bellows might make it easier to maintain that stove
😂 it felt painful, but tell you what, I’m out right now sat beside my woodstove under the tarp, next to my hammock set up, and it’s sooooo cosy and warm and relaxing. So glad I made this mod.
I would have never 'ruined' that tarp in that way... Why did you not just simply use a 45 degree connection between 2 pipes, so the end will stick out of your shelter..... Even INSIDE an a frame or a pyramid tarp configuration, that's how i use my woodstove...
