Also, you can change the points in the distributor to breakerless ignition. I got it installed on my 861 Powermaster and it runs just as good as a diesel.
Just want to mention that mounting the alternator like you have obstructs he air flow through the alternator and may shorten its life span, especially the internal regulator!!!! Modified alternator brackets should be available from somewhere !!
Hard to watch you're moving too much, and bad lighting. It would've been better if you stabilized your camera and actually showed it. Many people watching these are looking to see the repair, if they don't know the beginnings of it then you're speaking a language they don't understand. You have potential, keep trying.
The generator bracket when mounted backwards will accept a GM alt. with the belts lining up for 600-800 tractors too. The line in the dash is a resistor to stop feed back to the distributor and causing the engine to run with out the ignition on. Your 6v starter and coil are good to go, but if you buy a 12v coil there are ones that have a built in resistor, this replaces the external resistor that reduces voltage to the points so they don't burn up.Flip your 12v battery around to neg ground and spin your coil around and put the negative to the distributor.
a way to tell if these delco alternators are charging without a amp gauge is the the bearing housing. on the back becomes magnetic when they are charging just touch a piece of metal to it when it is running and see if it sticks
@pickensdoodle i kept the original solenoid on it and it works fine, the only problem i had was the starter gear got stripped out, i dont know if it is because the starter was spinning too fast or if it is just the wear on the starter gear.
Not to detail but pretty much it's pretty simple Simon mines on the right alternator and I got a nice front distributor you didn't say anything about changing the coil converter resistor I don't think you really have to buy a coil 12 volt coil you just gotta buy a ballast resistor that knocks 12 volts going to your coil are you burn your points of in a second and I gotta say anyone in their right mind that was converted. Admission to a electronic ignition is an idiot points are only $5 and when they go bad you just replace them electronic edition can go out at any time no warning signs the owner of it I'll take points in a day yeah the last 12 years in a tractor far longer
