Don't use extra virgin olive oil, it has a LOW temperature smoke point. You want to use classic olive oil as it has a HIGH temperature smoke point. Also I would recommend using a cast iron skillet for steaks if you want the best end result.

olive oil breaks down at a temp lower than beef fat - ergo, you burn the oil into distasteful bitterness way before you can brown the beef fat. try avocado oil, very high breadown point on more neutral in flavor than olive oil. Also, start with ghee (clarified butter) instead of whole butter, develops crust lots better. last one minute - then add whole butter for the flavor.

If a rib-eye is too expensive , wait till "rib steaks" go on sale , usually around 5 bucks per pound here in Denver , they are exactly the same cut of meat but come with the bone (rib eye is the same cut but boneless) , then after your done feasting on your rib steak you get to demolish the bone portion that still has some sweet tasting meat ....your stomach will thank you. Provecho!!

When you're using that much olive oil in the pan, you don't even need to pre-baste with oil. They'll get a more than full coating just by placing them in the pan. Fresh garlic is a good call, and really a game-changer in terms of bombastic flavor. Crushed or finely chopped garlic can take things to the next level, and GARLIC POWDER is also a must.

What I personally like to do once they're finished cooking is to let them rest for a few minutes in foil wrap, then pour some red wine into the pan to deglaze and simmer down to a nice, flavorful sauce to top your steak. Also, the added benefit of layering your steaks with a little oil first before adding the seasoning is, it helps the salt/pepper/other seasons to *stick* to the meat as well. Love your video :D it is really nice to be able to not have to pay $27 at a restaurant and enjoy your own steak anytime you like

The thing is that the piece of ribeye cost around 15-18$ the potatoe 2$ then the others condiment an extra 6$ plus your time and kitchen and gas and to get everything you need. Sometime it’s better just go a restaurant an Pay that 27$ for the steak you get to take picture as well 😂😂😂

@@qwertyuiopqwertyuiop1872 If you want it uncooked go get it at ShopRite or super fresh brand supermarket for 17-20$ if you want it cooked go get it by Applebees and Dave and busters for around 35-37$ it comes with vegetable or mash potatoes by the time I posted you could still get it by 28$ but right now it’s expensier. I guess because it become pretty famous…. The tomahawk cost around 56$ now the the lower prices and is uncooked . I’m talking cheep prices since I’m broke but you could go a higher rate restaurant but will cost more. ( NJ)

So sad that people have to come on someone's RU-vid video and criticize how they do things. You all are such cowards with too much time on your hands. This man had the courage to make a video, put himself on it, and share the method of cooking steaks the way HE likes it. There'll ALWAYS be things that others do that we don't like or agree with. If that's the case, why not kindly move on and find another video to watch, keep your judgmental and condemning comments to yourself, and go make your OWN "how to" video?

The criticism is 100% warranted! This is NOT a respectful way to prepare your food. Treat your food like its meant to be treated. Like its sustaining your existence. When a person claims one thing, and it clearly isnt... Criticism is absolutely required. How would this person learn any other way? You need to be told that what you did is either wrong, or straight inefficient, if you expect to progress. When its presented in this way, he deserves the sharp criticism. i mean... he stated that searing somehow hold in flavor and juices? If you believe that, its quite clear you have never actually cooked. Anything. Ever!

That does look good! But you should try using a stainless steel or cast iron pan to get a really good crust on the steaks and you should always use a high burning point oil like canola, avocado or safflower oil while searing. 😎👍🏻
