Abacha is one of the most delicious Nigerian dish you will find in the eastern part of Nigeria. This food is a mixture of processed cassava, vegetable, ugba, utazi, garden egg, fish, goat meat, Cameroon pepper, crayfish & onion.
For our love of creating exciting content for your consumption, we bring you Abacha on food arena today with Warripikin.
Warripikin has taken to another part of Lagos to locate the next cook for the abacha quest and he found Miss Odinaka, the lady who makes the delicious Abacha as seen in the video. Odinaka is an open lady who was really helpful and made our filming much more easier as she explained and told us everything that we needed to know.
She took us through the process of cutting the cassava, washing it till clean and also mentioned that, the water used to clean shouldn’t be thrown away, as starch can be derived from it when it settles.
“If you are trying to prove you can slice the cassava, the slicer will cut you”, she said.
From slicing, it was moved from boiling, cooling and extra time to wash more to wash away excess acidity and starch. During the process of continuous preparation where he saw “Ugba” while discussing with Odinaka, he asked her what it is used for and how it can consumed. Coincidently, Warripikin meet Odinaka’s mother, it struck him to ask what the ugba can be used for apart from being a part of Abacha spice and she said it can be used as part of the bridal items in the eastern part of Nigeria.
It went on to the slicing of vegetable, frying pepper, fish, meat, dicing the onion, and other means necessary. Take your time to watch this video and feel free to salivate.

Maurice Watkins, I wouldn't say many. Most families in America work away from home so there isn't much time for making meals from scratch. Many Americans either eat out or fix things that are out of boxes. It is slightly cheaper and more convenient to eat a fast food meal than fix a home cooked meal. For example, Wendy's has a 4 for $4 meal. Even though average home cooked meals are $4 and change per person, many Americans prefer convenience. That's why fast food restaurants thrive in America. There are no fast food chains in Nigeria.
@FiiDeLLaCaShFLoW
@FiiDeLLaCaShFLoW 6 лет назад
Working 12-16 hour shifts a day leaves no time to do this all the time...most american men want their partner to work as much as them, sometimes more, it isn't like old times where the man is the bread winner and the woman cares for the home...most men here want to be taken care of!...so a woman working 12-16 hour shifts, then taking care of the husband, kids, and home, there isnt that many hours in a day! This looks like a 1-2 day job, a working person doesnt have the time.

I ate this everyday back in Nigeria cos it's one of my favorite local dishes. And this video has spurred me on to prepare the one I left on my kitchen cabinet for a while now. Btw, this young lady and her family are really hardworking, go through this whole process with so much passion and love for what they do. I wish them all the best...and that whole plate for #50? Wow!

The initial process of getting the abacha done is very tedious but afterwards it gets dried up and sold in that way. Whenever you want to eat abacha, you soak the dried one for some minutes and it gets soft. Then you go ahead and prepare it. I love this! Good job for showing the eastern part of Nigeria. Odinaka you re too much!

For some weird reason when the prepared Abacha arrived, there was this strong smell of good food that came out of nowhere. I looked around to see if someone around me had just brought in food, but it was just my imagination. I watched the entire video and was waiting in anticipation of him eating Ugba, but sadly he didn't.

I'm the most boring Enugu guy ever, I like my abacha just like that with plenty meat haha. All the ugba, garden egg, onions, and interesting things that they add, I should try it haha. I'm too simple. Great video. Igbo Kwenu!

It is not N50, it *depends* on the packaging. Maybe only Abacha without fish is N50 because a whole fish worth more than N50. As I said it depends on the packaging maybe N200, N300 unless you wants to eat only Abacha without Ugba(Ukpaka) and fish.
