Dauphinoise potatoes 2 ways - In this tutorial we show how to prepare and cook dauphinoise potatoes for your friends and family at home, also how a Chef would prepare this in a restaurant or fine dinning establishment. Layers of floury potatoes with garlic, cream and topped with gruyere cheese makes this a delicious classic French side dish.

1.5kg Maris Piper, King Edward
or Russet potatoes
750ml double cream
80gm gruyere cheese
4 cloves garlic
Sea salt
whole nutmeg

Gosh Chef- you brought back memories of doing the Dauphinoise potatoes at this french restaurant when I got out of culinary school. We would use a mold to shape them round. Thank you for showing both versions. Easy one for the home cook and a more elaborate one for those who want a more elegant look on the plate. Your videos are fantastic! Nice shot of you smashing the garlic.

Richard this video is superb, when I finally get around to doing this video myself I'm going to be studying yours first. So good and looks like you've sorted your lighting or white balancing now, everything looked so good mate. Oh and what a stunning dish to compliment the dauphinois Richard

Thanks Matt, yes I took your advice on the white balance and did the grey card thing, I love dauphinois and it’s so simple to make, thanks for the feedback much appreciated 👨‍🍳👨‍🍳👨‍🍳 just editing rhubarb chutney for tomorrow 🥴
