I prefer lightly steam with acidulated water, and crush either fresh lemon or orange on the asparagus half way thru...don't over cook.

I put the washed, dried asparagus on a baking sheet, and sprinkle salt, pepper, and olive oil. Make sure everything is well combined and bake it at 400 F for 15 minutes. (Half way through I give it a little shake so they cook evenly. I always work and the asparagus taste fantastic.

Great and fantastic channel discovered thanks to my Canadian-Lebanese friends that I met in Beirut ( during my study abroad year). The Lebanese add two more things that you might find interesting : roasted pine nuts and a bit of chopped basil and parsley ( they love that stuff)!

I was told that olive oil does not withstand high heat very well during cooking. Is that true?

Yes and no, if you buy a first cold pressed real virgin olive oil, there's no problem with cooking. Sadly most olive oils these days are mixed with inferior processed vegetable oils which become toxic. Usually the bigger brands do this. If olive oil is really cheap, then it's probably fake.
