You should have pointed out the arguably most crucial step; rinsing the rice.
@YumAsia
@YumAsia 7 лет назад
Yes, we did miss this step out as the rice in the video was relatively 'clean' and not too starchy. Not all rice needs washing, it really depends on each individual batch. Thank you for pointing it out, we should have mentioned it! :)

Hello. We have lots of recipe videos on You Tube (just follow our channel) but not for cottage pie which cannot be made in a rice cooker and glass should not be used in our cookers.

Hi, it's very difficult to help you via RU-vid comments, you need to contact us as we detail in the user manual for any questions. At a guess, we would say it's the rice you are using that's the problem but it's difficult to know without any further information.

I have used mine for over half a year, super pleased with it. however sometimes when I eat alone, 2 cups of rice is to much. Can i cook 1 cup of rice or is 2 minimum? (based on instruction book and the bowl, the minimum measurement is 2 cups)
@YumAsia

Hi! There are instructions in the manual for cooking 1 cup of rice, you would use the measuring cup to measure the water (one full to the brim cup of water).

Don't you add salt to the rice? If no, could i know why? Also how about adding some flavour when cooking rice, like adding powdered turmeric to the water, is this safe for rice cooker and will it come out good?
@YumAsia
@YumAsia 2 года назад
Hi, you can add salt to the rice, we would usually advise customers add the salt after the rice has cooked - it's a very European/British thing to add salt to rice and salt does affect the boiling point of water, so it's best to salt the rice after rather than adding salt to the water and uncooked rice. The rice produced in our rice cookers is very different to normal boiled rice from a saucepan, so please do try the rice without salt as our rice cookers cook rice in a way to retain taste and texture. You can add other flavours to the rice while cooking and we have several rice seasoning recipes as well as flavoured rice on our Greedy Panda food blog - greedy-panda.com/

As you say, some rice does and some doesn’t, rule of thumb for me is just rinse it, full proof then. Makes great rice!

@gazzdid
@gazzdid 3 года назад
Hi, what’s the maximum portions of rice it can cook and how long does it take to cook at maximum qty? Thanks
@YumAsia
@YumAsia 3 года назад
@gassdid Sakura cooks 8 cups of uncooked white rice, the cups are 180ml so that's a maximum of 1.5 litres of uncooked white rice. Brown rice is less capacity (as it expands/absorbs water differently), max for brown rice is 6 cups (1 litre). It depends on what setting you are using as that will determine the cooking time - on the long grain setting for white rice it would take around 40 minutes.

Can you recook leftover rice with the cooker? if yes, how does it work ?
@YumAsia
@YumAsia 3 года назад
Hi, Sakura doesn't have a reheat function for food safety reasons. When you reheat rice you have to make sure it's heated to a high temperature to ensure its safe to eat.

Hi, the display only flashes when it's on standby/a function isn't selected. When you press start to start the cooking cycle, a chasing lines pattern appears on the display and then in the last 10 minutes a numerical countdown appears.

How long it takes to cook the rice???
@YumAsia
@YumAsia 4 года назад
Hi Cristina, It depends on the type of rice you are cooking but for a grain like a long grain white rice then the cooking time is around 35-40 minutes. For brown rice it is more like 60 minutes. The exact time varies slightly because it depends on the temperature of the water you first add, how the grain absorbs the water and the ambient temperature of the room- Sakura's advanced fuzzy logic processor adjusts the exact cooking time depending on these factors.

Doesn't wash the rice before adding it to the pot. Says that the device "boils the rice" This thing is up on Yum Asias official page, how?
@YumAsia
@YumAsia 3 года назад
Hello, Thank you for your comment. Not all rice needs to be washed first. it depends on the rice you are using. Boiling the rice is one of the phased cooking sequences that Sakura uses to cook rice. The presenter does mention the 7 phases along with braising and steaming which you must have missed. Please note that this model also comes with a time countdown mode for rice functions, a stainless steel inner lid, and now easy to read silk print rice level lines. Thank you!

Hey YumAsia - I would ignore this guy. He’s a complete troll in general, but esp re your products on multiple sites. He was aggressive and and used abusive language to a guy who published a v useful “how to” video re the Panda multi-cooker. I’m glad you responded calmly and informatively to him - but you may want to make other viewers aware he appears everywhere slandering your products.
