How to cook Persian style Rice!
You need a Persian rice cooker, basmati rice, saffron, olive oil, salt, and a cup. Everyone cup of rice serves at least two people. I am cooking 4 cups of rice. Add the rice into the pot. When measuring the rice, pour the rice up to the rim of the cup. Fill the kettle with water and let it boil. Rinse the rice and put the pot into the rice cooker. For every cup of rice depending on the type of rice, we need from one and a half cups to two cups of boiling water. You can measure the water with a cup or, to be safe, use a measuring cup. For 4 cups of rice, add 1.5 cups of olive oil, a tablespoon of salt, and half a teaspoon of saffron. Turn the knob onto red. The colours on the knob show how crispy your Tahdig will be. When the rice boils, stir it. Don’t put the lid, but if you want to, don’t completely close it. Wait until all the water evaporates, then grab three paper towels and fold them in half. Put them on top of the pot and close the lid. If you check the knob, it’s still pointing to red. It’ll take about 40 minutes to an hour for the rice to completely cook. When the rice is ready, the rice cooker will turn itself off. When it’s ready, serve it right away to have perfect, crispy Tahdig! It can be a side for almost any meal. Enjoy your Persian rice!

I really miss my pars khazar. My persian sister in law bought me one many decades ago and I used it until its last breath.

You can buy them online, in some countries even Amazon has them. I attached a link to one of them, I hope this helps your tahdig dreams come true! :) www.amazon.ca/PARS-KHAZAR-Automatic-Persian-Cooker/dp/B07BNXPPZK/ref=sr_1_1?hvadid=284226980310&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9000795&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=b&hvrand=4008308181203325587&hvtargid=kwd-299468855210&hydadcr=27203_10621731&keywords=pars%2Bkhazar%2Brice%2Bcooker&qid=1702232761&sr=8-1&th=1

This Texas boy discovered Tahdig about 20 years ago when I met some Persian-born friends in Houston. Amazing dish. I've had a little Pars cooker since then, it's still amazing!

The whole point of having a rice cooker is to let it cook the rice ! put the rice in and seasoning and close it and let it do its job ! Other wise just use a pot on stove !

There's no chance you could achieve such a perfect Tadig in the pot. The rice cooker is doing the job; all you have to do is put the lid on after the water evaporates. :)

I noticed you poked holes in the rice. Is that to help it get crispy on the bottom. Do you do that once all the water boils out? Thank you !!
@LifeXperienc
@LifeXperienc 2 года назад
You do that when all the water has evaporated and it's time to put on the paper towel and lid. Yes, it helps it become crispier and ensures the rice grains are seperate. Good observation!

How much oil???
@LifeXperienc
@LifeXperienc Год назад
At least one cup.
@CaptainBenjamins
@CaptainBenjamins Год назад
The first time I did it I used 1.5 cups like instructed (for 4 cups of rice) and it was too much for me. Now I just use 0.5 cup of oil (for 4 cups of rice) and it was better ratio for me
@LifeXperienc
@LifeXperienc Год назад
@StormingCastle For sure, altering the ratio to your taste is a great idea for any recipe. I do that myself all the time. I can't make the same dish twice. 😀

@@LifeXperienc I think it should have been an important part of the video. I remember being on a time crunch looking and thought I finally found a good video. Maybe you can add it as an edit for us non cooking people.

Hello, for 1 cup of rise, how many water you are using?
@LifeXperienc
@LifeXperienc 3 года назад
Depending on the kind of rice that you are cooking, this can range from 1.5 cups to 2.5 cups. Just a reminder to use boiling water, not cold water. This way, we are combining two methods of cooking rice, the straining one ( آبکش) and the nonstraining one ( کته ).

Where can I buy the Persian rice cooker?
@LifeXperienc
@LifeXperienc 3 года назад
You can find it in Persian supermarkets if you have one close by/online. I found Persian rice cookers at Walmart and Amazon. Check these out: www.walmart.ca/en/ip/Pars-Persian-3-Cup-Stainless-Steel-Automatic-Electric-Steamed-Rice-Cooker-Maker/PRD4NTYRU7MIUOW?cmpid=SEM_CA_103_IPOHHGU1DN_71700000073194363_58700006362002371&SEM_CA_103_IPOHHGU1DN_71700000073194363_58700006362002371&gclsrc=aw.dls&&gclid=CjwKCAjwzMeFBhBwEiwAzwS8zLBC7XH_qvzo_jGp41EPb1GyWRttgB8YWJNMoTCeo1Sh4hWWvTUblxoC5zIQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds www.amazon.ca/PARS-Automatic-Persian-Rice-Cooker/dp/B00SQPQKCS#
