@@mikejimenez6470 I'm from VA, but I've never cooked greens before. That was my first time. But yea my aunties get down cooking them but I do believe these are better 😌
The video maybe short, but the greens couldnt be compared to the old fashioned way of cooking.I Im sorry, I forgot ur schedule could only include hair, nails & facials & what not & that's ur whole day, then it's time to bathe & go to bed. Oh, u poor baby, how exhausting. Get up & start all over again, only to add shopping to the list.
@@davidbetsey2437 your going so hard when the person that made the comment in the first place was a MAN. Please go get some HELP mad miserable under a COOKING video🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
As a Southern boy living in NH, I just about had a tear in my eye watching you make these greens!! Brought back some great childhood memories of hot kitchens and wonderful smells
Similar way I cook my greens 🥬 except what I like to do is prepare the broth the night before by cooking the meat until it fall off the bone then the next day use the broth and poor it into a crock pot and put it on low for a few hours I use basic onion powder garlic powder and black pepper a dash of white pepper and Goya vegetable seasoning very tasty
I ALWAYS wonder WHY people don’t rinse the collard leaves prior to cutting them. It’s much easier to clean/rinse when the leaves are whole. Looks good.
vaphillips, that's the way my Mama taught me, many years ago. Plus, I give my sink a little extra cleaning, then use it to wash the greens, any greens, without using separate bowls. Fill one side with cold water. Wash the whole leaves. Fill the other side with cold water, while the first side is soaking a bit. Swish the greens around, lift a handfull & let drip. Put in the 2nd side of the sink. Drain the first side. Fill with fresh cold water. Using the same method, return the leaves to the 1st side. Repeat as often as is necessary for the greens. More for homegrown/picked and less for commercially available fresh greens. Last pass, toss the wet greens into the empty sink bowl (with strainer in place but not secured) to let them drain.Toss around a bit. In a few minutes they're ready to be processed for the pot. Bonus: More of the nutrition stays in the un-cut greens during the cleaning process. That green colored water is NUTRITION leaking out of all those cut/torn edges!!! Very little, if any green tinge in the water when cleaning whole leaves.
Cleaning the whole leaf before cutting them is the way my mother did it, and is the way I do it. We cleaned each leaf, front and back, by hand to make sure that there are no bugs, animal droppings, dirt, or worms. Believe you me, I have seen my share of worms and bugs that have made me jump out of my skin. People, please clean the leaves one by one with running water and a paper or cloth towel. After you have cleaned them that way, then roll up several leaves together and cut.
I legit have been coming here forbthe past 4 years. Every Thanksgiving I gotta re-learn the process and so you know, people always say, this is the best greens I've had. So thank you!! Stay blessed and Happy Thanksgiving! 😊
Old Mississippi boy...living in Missouri here. Some kinda good those are. ONLY thing I do different is add about 2-3 table spoons of hot sauce to the season water in the beginning with the neat. And now....one more subscriber!!!!!! I'm hungry now!!!!!
I have never in my 41 years made Greens 🥬 before but I was nominated by my family to cook them for Christmas, this recipe is the bomb! They cleaned the pot! I did tweak it a little by adding chicken broth & butter 🧈Thanks so much sis!
You been and still are the ONLYYY youtuber I get recipes from lol even after all these years I just go to your page or website and look up whatever I wanna cook , BOOM LOVE ME SUM COOP 💓
Thank you so much for this recipe! This is my first Thanksgiving that I will be cooking for my boyfriend and me. We moved away from home, so I have to come hard! I'm so excited to try this recipe out!
I'm a Kurdish woman from the UK and I was looking for an authentic recipe and I just knew it had to come from a black woman LOL. This looks amazing! Thanks!
This looks delicious! And I have a tip to share a for cleaning greens. Wash whole leaves before cutting. It's easier to wash off the entire surface and you don't spread micro stuff from dirty surface and contaminate the fresh cut flesh of the leaf.
I just cooked me a big pot of them today, I used smoked ham hocks instead of turkey but, you know what? Your pot is exactly like mine, which belonged to my mother. Sure was good, thanks, honey.
I've used your recipe several times. I personally don't eat greens, but my husband and kids love them. Thanks so much..always comes out good. My pot of greens are on the stove as we speak...
I’m back! I used this recipe three years ago and it was so good. I’m back again to make it this 2022 Thanksgiving. Thank you! Happy Thanksgiving to all 🍁
Made these yesterday....my hubby LOVED 'em so much! He's already talking about going back to the market for more greens! I just found your site a few days ago and have viewed almost all the videos. I love that they are short and to the point.
Loved it! My mouth started watering when you started pouring in the apple cider vinegar. I like your production style, too. All the important stuff in a concise, short and easy to understand manner. Great job!
So glad collards are back in season. My neck bones are just about done. Can't wait to dig in. Thanks for the video. You confirmed I was on the right track.
I got everything today and I will cook them tomorrow with cubed steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing and biscuits. This is what my 8 year daughter asked for . Daddy's girl gets what she wants
You have nailed it, good Coop Can Cook, capturing all the essentials! This has since been the basis for all kinds of variations that I could have guessed at for years but which cam naturally after cooking it your way. Thanks!
Just want to thank you for this recipe. Believe it or not, I had never cooked collard greens on my own. Your recipe was a hit with my visiting family👏🏽.

Thank you for making this video ❣️very informative, straight & to the point...I'm cooking my greens like this for Easter, Happy Sunday & have a Blessed Easter 🙏🏽🐣 🐇
So glad I found your channel and recipe for collard greens. I have not made greens in years but your recipe made it come back to me. I know I will have great collard greens for Thanksgiving!
Re,Indy me of my first colored greens I had in Georgia, when I was younger there working, this recipe looks amazing with the smoked turkey meat, thanks for sharing this recipe ❤️
I cooked greens for my first time. I search the list for a video and this was my first pick. I didn't even follow the recipe, I just used it as guidelines. Now I'm trying ham hocks instead of bacon. It is sooooo delicious. Btw, I used lemon juice instead of apple cider vinegar. It gave it a nice Southwest twist to it, being fr Tucson AZ, it was perfect. Subscribed and avid fan of your cooking. Wish you could taste what you've inspired. Also, I can roll 😋
I myself have never made collard greens but love them and just found your video and making them now thank you so much for sharing them can't wait to eat them 👍
I made these yesterday for Thanksgiving 2021 and ma'am, THANK YOU!! I used smoked turkey wings and instead of water used chicken broth. My crush said "I can eat this by itself don't need nothing else on the plate" lol I did add sugar to cut the bitterness of my greens. My new go to recipe!!
I am no cook and have attempted to cook greens before. This recipe was the easiest and best. The Apple Cider Vinegar splash really took the flavor up a notch.
"Pot Licka!" ;> brings back special memories of childhood. I've stir-fried (waaay faster) collards w/ Thai spices and Sriracha hot sauce and my husband loves them! But I made him swear not to tell his family else they may take away my soul food card! But will definitely try your recipe, the smoked turkey is a whole lot healthier than salt back pork! Thank You. Great video.
Hi! I used your video, thank you so much! I used turkey leg... I've never had nor made collard greens, so I'm very excited to have a new veggie in my life! 👍💥🎉
