It is a matter of personal taste. Regularly, automotive leathers are used for steering-wheels. As these leathers (corrected/top finished leathers) have two to three coats of transparent sealer/lacquer on their top surface to endure the daily rubbing of hands and UV sun rays. A wet coat is useful to clean it. Can non-finished leathers (full grain aniline or semi aniline leathers) be used for steering wheels? Yes, provided you should be constantly conditioning and very meticulous to do a special cleaning. In other words, these leathers are considered more finesse and better quality than finished leathers.
