The cleaning off phase was almost traumatic looking LOL. The coral peaking out from under the skin tone made it look like you were literally rubbing your skin off lol. I was like “AAAA- oh. Ha!”

For anyone watching and wanting to layer just alcohol activated paints the green marblr setting spray is great to apply between layers. its alcohol resistant and its also pretty water proof . and transfer proof . just make sure to not apply too heavily because it can cause wrinkling. One of the best ways to make alcohol activated a bit less tight or drying is to apply a water based lotion to moisturize on the finishsed design or cover up area and then powdering the area . that way the wrinkliness doesnt look to harsh.

@@ashleysanders1116 I have dermablend also but it transferred and rubbed off a little. But I only used Laura mericer powder after the dermablend foundation. Is there a spray I should use to seal it or another powder? Do you use dermablend powder?

This was so helpful! I’ve been curious about alcohol-activated paints lately so this came at a good time! Do you know if these types of paints are safe to use on silicone prosthetics for cosplay (elf ears, chest suits, etc)? Does dermablend really work on spider veins? You'll probably never see this question but anyone who does and used dermablend please LMK. I am light skinned and spider veins are noticeably blue, almost the color of a bruise.

Hi there , I need help asap, my husband competes in body building and we wanna cover his tattoos being it shows his body better, that being said the problem is he needs to be spray tanned then oiled up , and I know oil breaks down the alcohol so do we have any alternatives that can help us pull this off??? @@vianettearenal hay I’m sorry for the late reply! Pros: It worked wonderfully close and far people couldn’t tell! Cons: I’m terrible with makeup so keep that in mind but it took a long time to apply and with multiple shows and mishaps I don’t always have time I move my body a ton and toward the middle end a multitude of what I can only describe as crinkles started to form (maybe there’s a way to remedy this that I don’t know) but aside from that absolutely wonderful and stayed on through all the water and sweat!

Thanks for sharing, I've been wanting to try this. I got Narrative's flesh tone pallet a few months ago and it has been fun to play with. I mainly use it for the vein tone, but recently used it to correct my skintone when I went a bit too far with another color of alcohol paint and didn't want to try to remove the section in fear of ruining the look. I have 2 skin illustrator pallets, and the 1 Narrative alcohol activated pallet, and they act fairly similarly. There's a bit of a learning curve for how each take alcohol/activator, but the same can be said for different brands of water activated paints. Always love your videos and looks, but especially appreciate when I learn something so valuable like this. Sincerely, a baby makeup artist. 😄

That's in depth, you must be serious about covering that up! Looks good tho! The freckles really make it authentic af. Back in the day when tattoos were taboo and people wouldn't hire the heavily tattooed we would just go with tons of concealer, until you just have so much work like me and you can't cover it up.🤣🤣🤣

this is amazing!!!!! thank you so much!!!! im definitely going to invest in this product. i have a question though about the safety of prolonged alcohol exposure on skin. are there any guidelines i need to follow (ie: in general don’t leave on longer than 12 hours, it could bleach or irritate skin, etc) or is it pretty safe to wear frequently? thanks again for such a great video 😊

The alcohol immediately evaporates and it will only irritate your skin if your skin is excessively dry or has minor cuts, etc. alcohol doesn’t have bleaching properties. Glad you like it!

Aaah, what an amazing tutorial. I want to try something like this too eventually with large birthmarks, scarring and vericose veins that i know some people are self-conscious about. This is a step up from usual colour correcting techniques ive seen on other makeup tutorials, so im glad ive seen something a lot more foolproof when it comes to smudging. I need to ask, can alcohol-activated makeup be removed with cleansing balms/oils or just plain ol' mineral oil? Have you worked on others that may not react well to alcohol activated makeup like irritation or excessive dryness due the alcohol content in the activator? Im guessing you'd want to prepare the skin to be moisturised and hydrated first before applying the makeup without making the person's skin feel too dry, but nothing with too much of that slippy emollience so that makeup can still adhere properly to the surface of the skin. Oh, what about sunscreen? 😱 This probably too much already, and i should probably look up other sources as well. FX makeup seems to have opened up new possibilities for me to experiment with, this is really exciting! 🥰🤩

Do you know if alcohol activated fx paints stain silicone? I have a fake silicone chest for cosplay/drag and want to do a pool friendly costume for a character with tattoos. I was just going to paint it on with alcohol activated fx paint but I want to be able to remove it from the silicone.

Nothing sticks permanently to silicone other than silicone, so you’re able to remove this afterwards

Would this be effective for covering larger tattoos? I'm an actress, but I have large and visible tattoos that I need to cover up effectively, and sometimes costuming isn't enough especially for time period pieces.

Yes, this is how I cover tattoos up on set. You shouldn’t have to worry about this as an actress, the makeup team would do it for you.

The fastest way to do it would be with an airbrush, using alcohol or silicone based airbrush makeup, but it would require owning and knowing how to use an airbrush
