I'm not going to lie, I was ao frustrated with trying to figure out these book dimensions, I've searched countless tutorials and other how-to pages on the web. Nothing would help. And then I came across my saving grace. You show how simple it can be to make a cover, thank you so much.
I learned a new skill today from this video. I will never hire any Fiverr guy from now onn. Your video saved a great lot of money from my pocket. Thankyou for the emmence value to just provided.
Wow, thank you so much for the kind words. The truth is, I still hire cover designers from time to time, but being able to do them yourself, especially for no content/low content books is a great skill to have. I'm glad you found the content helpful. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Wow! I was awake for a whole night trying to figure it out what's wrong with the measurements for my book cover and I was about to spend $1200 today for starting a course about things like this. But I said first let's give it one more try. I searched again on Google someting to help me see where I'm doing wrong creating the cover, and YOU SIR appeared. You made it so easy to understand.I already published my book. I'm glad that I found you and THAT YOU for sharing. You are the best! THANK YOU!
I’m so glad I’m not the only one. It looks simple but KDP keeps rejecting my covers and I spent $300 on the cover creator program and did it 15-20 times. 😵💫
I hope my last response helps. To be honest, many times, the errors are for just simple, quick fixes. It’s just trying to figure out what those fixes are. 😊👍
THE FIRST RU-vid video I've watched that was actually easy to follow! I've been playing around with Canva for awhile, but this video was straight forward and made it so simple. Thank you!
Oh my goodness!! Thank you so much for this content. I am so grateful to Jesus that I came across this video. I know that seems a bit dramatic and I don't care. LOL I pray you will be blessed beyond your imagination, Sir!! New subscriber!
After reviewing the first few minutes of several tutorials that made my eyes glaze over, I found yours. Thank you for the informative, sensible, and clear directions. MUCH appreciated! :)
Keith, I very rarely leave comments on the videos I watch, but I want to THANK YOU! I was about to toss my computer out of the window trying to make my cover for my KDP book. Your video was straight-forward, easy to follow and made total sense. Great content!
I just had to write a comment - which I hardly do. I found this video very useful. I followed the video step-by-step and now I have a beautiful design for my new paperback book. May God bless you. Amen.
WOW! That is a huge compliment. Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm thrilled that you found the video helpful. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Thank you, Keith! You helped me to kept my promise to my grandson, Harry. By following your instructions on how to make a Print canva book cover. We co authored a dragon book together and thanks to you, Harry got to share it with his 4th grade class last week! Your're a life saver! God Bless! Lurene Miller
OMG! This made my day! I’m so honored that my videos were able to help you and your grandson. If the book is available on Amazon, I’d love to take a look.
@@KeithWheelerBooks It's free in KU. Kingdom Lost Series is : Dragon Legend of the Boy King :) A 3 novella book series... You are a natural exhorter and teacher. Thank you.
Had to jump on here and commend you on this tutorial. I can't tell you how incredibly frustrating it's been to find a simple video-explanation on this topic. Brother, you ROCK!!!
Really GREAT video! I am publishing a paperback through Amazon. Your advice on cover making was much appreciated! Your cover making steps are easy to follow.
Michele, thank you so much for the kind words. I’m glad you found the video helpful. My goal is to take the fear out of self-publishing. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
The only of of these tutorial that was both in English I could understand AND made sense. Thank you! My book, The Rooster Rider, will now have a paperback cover! I hope to have the MS modified for paperback by the end of the week and presto! I'll add paperbacks to the extant Kindle version.
I have come back to this video too many times to count in trying to create my book cover and a book cover for a client. Thank you so much for this information, Keith!!
Thank You So Much Sir! I was literally exhausted searching all over the internet and I was going to pay to some freelancer but thanks to your video, now I'll create my own PaperBack cover which make me feel so happy. :)
I've done plenty of canva ebook covers, but the print book cover is a mystery to me. Thanks for the info on how to do it. I'm going to try it and probably will be back several times to follow the steps. Thank you so much. You made my heart happy with this video!!
Thanks. I've been trying to make a conscious effort to shorten the videos as I know people are busy and have limited free time. Thanks for watching and subscribing.
I did over 250 designs on Canva and a friend asked if I could help him design a book cover he was going to publish. I won't lie that your video saved me so much time while it gave me the necessary perspective to execute the task. So, yaay, I designed a book cover for the first time and my friend loved the output. It's amazing when we learn new skills and put them to use 😊
Thank you so very much for this tutorial. It was just what I needed. I have been trying to upload my book covers to Lulu Xpress and had no clue what I was doing. I searched for videos and chose yours and now I have my covers. Thank you again. God bless! New subbie here. :-)

I love using Canva for my Wattpad books and have made other things on it too.. thanks for this tutorial for paperback books I was desperately in need of one.
Can't thank you enough Keith. You are a great soul and am truly blessed to come across this video and getting the opportunity to see your other tutorials. @@KeithWheelerBooks I published 3 poetry e-books (Mystical Nature, Bonds of a lifetime, Be You ---- sharing this so that in case you find time you might want to take a look and provide your feedback on how they have come out, it will be very helpful to me) this year and was running around to see how to do paperbacks after failing multiple times with cover page creation and irritating formatting issues. Now I will try using your suggestions and will keep you posted on my progress and any doubts I have.
Thank you SO MUCH for this!!! It was EXACTLY what we needed to create a cover for our daughter's first chapter book that she has written. I was familiar with CANVA and had all of the required specs, but had no idea how to put it all together. THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!
Thank you so much for this video it really broke everything down for me and I appreciate your time and making this for us. Take care and much success to you.
Ashley Scott, thanks for watching, I’m glad you found it helpful. I want to make sure you noticed the update. You should export your file to pdf-print format. This will ensure you have the highest quality image possible. If you have ideas for future videos, let me know.
Lois, thanks for commenting. I’ve verified with KDP that their paperback templates are the same templates that Createspace use to use. I do plan on doing a video in the future on how to utilize their cover creator.
HUGHLY HELPFUL. I had a freelancer that was holding me hostage for making different book covers for my authors of my collaboration. This was so help. I am subscribing so that I can continue to learn from you and be on point when you offer a paid service.
I'm so glad that you found this video helpful. My goal is to provide useful information to help other authors gain back the freedom to self-publish. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
@@KeithWheelerBooks honestly a life saver. I wrote my own book 2 years ago and hired a professional book cover designer for $200. Just completed a Book Collaboration with 7 women who are apart of my fast growing League of Girlfriends organization and hired a freelancer since I told the women that they would each have their OWN names on the cover and their OWN pictures on the back. I couldn't figure out how to use the publisher version the freelancer gave me, make changes and then save it as a pdf. Gheesh I have lost so much sleep over this. Until now. It will take me a little work to redesign my cover so that I can make the change to each women's cover but its better than her holding me ransom for another $200 to make these slight changes and I will own the design forever in my Canva account! Appreciate you sorry for the long message. How can I help you?
I’m so glad I could help you. Best of luck to you and the LoG on your book! Feel free to share these videos with anyone you think would benefit from them. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
I had created a full book cover on getpaint.net to the exact size but it didn't save as pdf. I searched high and low for a program to convert it without changing the dimensions. I came across this video and there you were showing me exactly how to do it on Canva. I want to thank you for taking the time to show us all how to do these these easily and perfectly. Well done.
This made my day. Thank you so much for the kind words! It means the world to me. Feel free to share my videos with anyone you think would enjoy them. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Thank you so much. I was trying to figure this out for the longest time before my Canva free trial ended. I got it done! Thank you so much for making a straight to the point video on how to do this. I am saving this for future reference. You rock!
Him this was awesome! I have been attempting to do this for 2 whole years now for Barnes & Noble! Only issue, Canva has changed so much since this vid, so it would be even more awesome if you could do an updated one. But thanks so much!
this really helped me after hours of frustration..Im specifically trying to do kdp book cover pdf upload in Ingram my book does require a spine , so I'm hoping I can add a spine. The volume seems low, compared to ther on my computer, but I am so happy you have shared this I could hug you! I'm going to try to do both kdp/ingram and upload and see if they accept them.
@@KeithWheelerBooks Hi, when resizing the page you added .125 for the bleed, where did you get the number from? Does the number differ depending on how many pages you have? (Just trying to size mine at the moment, and it keeps coming onto the page tiny.
The .125 inch bleed on the top, bottom, right and left side come from KDP's website. This "bleed" is to account for the cutting of the cover when the POD company makes the physical book. Regardless of the number of the pages in the interior, the cover bleed will always be the .125 inches all the way around the book. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching and subscribing!

Keith, thank you so much for showing me a simple way to upload the file from CS to Canva. I have a Mac, so no paint, but I intuitively went to Pixelmator and was able to save it as a jpeg file and upload it. You saved my sanity!!! ~ Your New Subscriber!

Hey Keith, just wanted to say that this is a great video. I took a look at a few others and the videos assumed that I knew a bunch of stuff on Canva that I didn't. So, I appreciate you taking the time to go step-by-step. This really helps. Thank you.

I asked Google to help me and your video popped up...I have binged watched them subscribed and "smashed" the bell...you are calming and confident clear to understand ...I appreciated how focused you are....and you solved my issues and I didn't have to wait and watch 15 minutes of nonsense like others do...Thank you for your time in sharing and editing ....I am publishing children's coloring books !
short grub, you just made my day! I love hearing that my content is helpful to my viewers! Children’s coloring books is one niche I haven’t tapped into. Canva is a great way to get started creating your own covers. Even with the free version, you can look at the already existing templates and get quite a bit of inspiration. I also use GIMP, which is another FREE product. It's similar to Photoshop.
OMG that was good and fast. I had never heard of Canva until 2 days ago. Trying to learn how to us it to make notebook covers. This video helps alot, just hope I can retain what I learned so far.
Thank you so much for the kind words. I’m glad you found the content helpful. The great thing about RU-vid is that you can always replay parts you need reminders on. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.
Great guidelines. Thank you. One tip for others: perhaps would be easier to choose px for dimensions, then go to your downloaded teamplate picture properties where you can see what are px dimensions exactly. Cheers mate.
Very well explained. I'm not quite there yet - technology isn’t my strong point. Thanks for your help. Going to check out which platform I'm using - It looks like KDP do both formats now, which may make it easier 😐
Thank you so much! This is was the most simplistic step by step tutorial using Canva that I've found yet. I have beating my head against the wall trying to simply fix my cover issues in KPD Lol. You definitely have a new subscriber here :-)
