'tin-tin-bull-tin'. :) Re: Harvey Milk Park @ 13:20, it probably is NOW correctly tagged as a park, but one of the key findings of my research was that the data Niantic is using for EX Raid parks is from July-August 2016. Until they update their data, no amount of corrections or additions on OSM can influence EX Raid park classification.

We have been testing this in Tyler, Texas! It seems pretty successful so far! We raid at one EX Raid gym (sponsored or park) in a group of 15-20 once a week. We have been able to force EX Raids in three of the last four waves. Unfortunately, I have not received any of those EX Raid passes. (I’m level 39, and have EX gym badge at Silver). Hope this information helps!!

I think maybe they want everyone to have the same chance of getting a pass so their give more passes to the inactive players while the active players supposed to have a better chance of getting one because their might have raided more then one EX gym. Trying to make sense of it all. I got 2 accounts, one active and one I use once in a while for a daily raid. The one that I hardly use already got 4 EX passes while raiding together with my other account while my active account got only 2 passes.

I just went through losing both my grandparents less than a year apart. The love that they give you cannot be matched and they leave such a void in your life when they are gone. My heart goes out to you and yours Nick during this difficult time.

Nick,my family went through the same thing. My grandmother slowly faded over the years until we were taking care her shell. She lived in a state of constant confusion and fear for years. She was still there deep down though. Every now and again,she would start crying and apologizing for "being crazy" and once asked my why no one had taken her out back and shot her yet. That moment was really heavy.....and then like someone flipped a switch she goes right back to asking me about my grandfather(who had passed before she slipped fully into her dementia) and where he was coming home. We kept her home instead of pushing her off to some care facility with under paid staff. I don't feel like there is enough money being paid to people who care for people in this condition. People suffering from dementia can be rather disagreeable and I've had to put my grandmother in a submission hold in order to patch a wound she opened whilst trying to escape our backyard. It's a hard thing to watch,I'm glad your family is making the hard choice and keeping them around loved ones. They won't be taken care of properly otherwise.

Thank you for sharing that with us. I've been working with seniors with dementia for over 9 years. It makes a huge difference in the lives of seniors with Alzheimer's to have family involved with their care. I wish all families were as involved as yours.

Sorry for your loss of your grandmother Nick! Dealing with family members who have Alzheimers or dementia isn’t easy. The way the disease deteriorated their brain is hard to take. I lost my grandfather a couple of years ago. He suffered from Alzheimer’s and dementia. Like your grandmother he didn’t remember any of our names or know who we were. It’s sad to see them go through those things the last 5-10 years or longer of their lives. Your grandmother sounded like a wonderful person. Take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering and her memories will always be with you. She will never be forgotten. Continue to make her proud and continue to share memories through her every lasting legacy.

This kind of technical information is actually way more interesting to me than spreadsheet calculations about defenders and attackers or their moveset, I might really dig into this. Furthermore, Nick I have a question, here in Portugal there are no regular sponsored Gyms by brands, however some gyms have been spotted with a sponsored tag in the top right corner (only during raids). Is that really a sponsored gym, i.e. qualified for EX raid election? Because they look nothing like regular Sprint or Starbucks sponsored gyms, sometimes they're just a random statue...

Here in my city we have noticed this "sponsored" tags (and taken prints too) on certain gyms. It turns out, every single one of the gyms that we got this "bug" ended up hosting Ex-Raids. None is really sponsored, so our guess is that it was just a tag in the game that identified viable gyms.

I suspect the same, the tag might be there just to indicate EX raid election but the gym isn't actually sponsored, I guess if someone could cross the information from S2 cells with gyms that have been already selected for EX raids with gyms that have been spotted with the sponsored tag then we could confirm this, sadly I don't think I have the means or time to do it...

So my first ex raid was on sponsored gym but now it is more common in parks. We generally do every Level 5 raid and many other raids in the park and we have successfully be able to EX raid on 8 locations(I got 4 EX passes)

This was great. Thank you. Sorry to hear about your grandmothers. My grandparents on my father's side went through the same thing and I'm terrified about the future for my dad and myself. I've talked to some researchers at Vanderbilt and have been assured that by the time I would need to start worrying about any effects on myself that a cure will have been fully deployed. Thanks so much for this clear breakdown of the information! I recently moved to a rural town that has only about 20 stops and gyms (and Ingress portals, all portals here were ported to PoGo it seems). I have a lvl 11 Ingress account, so I decided to improve the map with it. So far, I've identified 45 possible portal locations within the town (I'm guessing this town never had a very active Ingress community) but I didn't know about the S2 cells and how that affects portal placement etc. It's a bit more work to cross-reference, but definitely worth it. My condolences on the passing of your grandmother.

My sister and mother both suffered from Alzheimer's. My sister's disease progressed quite rapidly. Diagnosed in August 2012 and passed in Dec 2012. My mom's disease lasted almost exactly a year. At one point my mom started calling me mother. It bothered me a lot until I realized she was equating me with HER mother, my grandmother. It didn't hurt as much when she called me the wrong name or no name at all. I just remembered she thought of me as her caregiver and that was ok with me. I like to think they were in there, but the switches just didn't work well any more. My deepest sympathy on your loss!❤❤❤

Hope you read this... this worked in our small town in northern Canada... you literally saved Pokémon in our town. Almost everyone had quit until we activated ex passes and we went from 10-12 people playing now we have over 30 people showing up to raids now

As a PoGo player who has been updating OSM, I need to let you know a couple of things that Overpass Turbo doesn't highlight. First, the coding on Overpass Turbo is at July, 2016, which is where we believe Niantic is pulling the data of what is a park and such; any new parks added, like "Harvey Milk Park," would not be highlighted in the coding. If you want to confirm coding, you can change the date in the coding and run again. Second, some parks are coded as multipolygon in OSM (i.e. it has multiple parts not connected or holes in it) and will also not highlight in Overpass Turbo because they are more complex. However, I can confirm that despite not highlighted, I know of several parks that are Nest locations; so it's more of Overpass Turbo not registering the coding correctly from OSM. So those are the two things I want to point out before rushing onto OSM to make changes or cannot figure out why its coded correctly but not showing up on Overpass Turbo. Cheers!

A note about lvl 17 S2 Cells, every Pokestop will have its own cell unless pokestops were added for sponsored locations. I've seen two pokestops on top of each other since Starbucks was originally a pokestop, then all Starbucks became pokestops.

Nick I know the pain.... My grandpa also pass away today.... It happens in a sudden but our family kinda have a mind preparation throughout the year because he went in and out the hospital repeatedly and he barely produce blood... and again family issues...diabetes... This makes perfect sense because several times the quad at my college gets 2 ex raids per wave. I just checked and half the gyms fall in one cell and the rest are in another.

While they were testing ex raids my town had two ex raids. Ever since the testing ended we haven't had one ex raid. And I know this because we have a Facebook group of the majority of Pokémon players and not one has gotten an ex raid pass yet. Also we're suppose to raid at sponsored gyms or parks in hope to get an ex raid pass but the two ex raids my town has had previously during the ex raid testing weren't neither. One was a church and the other was a museum.

When you run Turbo Overpass, change the date at the top of the code to a more recent time to make sure you get the up to date tag info. This might explain why some parks don't show as being tagged as such.

Sorry for your loss Nick. Also sorry that I didn't get to say hello to you @ Hougang, Singapore because of the crowd and I couldn't stay for long the other day. Also, just for sharing...on the next EX raid gym that you have identified and targeting, try to do at least one raid per day at that very same gym from Wednesday to Saturday including at least one or two solo raids (in the same week). Hope this can help you get a few extra EX raid invites in the near future. In case you were wondering, I have gotten 3 consecutive EX raid invites since I started doing the same routine. Take care.
