It's Friday Art time, and today I'm going to show you how to create a professional looking series, or collection of artwork using just one sheet of A3 (11" x 17") paper.
We'll be using acrylic paint and various mark-making tools.
I create these mini pieces to sell when I run a workshop or speak at an event, and they're great for charity events and fairs. People love buying an original piece of art, and because these are small and quick to make, you can sell them at a reduced price.
Join me in this exciting exploration and produce your own wonderfully creative series.
Remember to like and subscribe.
Love Cate

Thank you Cate. I do something like this for our Church Craft Show. I cut up my pages and mount them on Note cards with a coordinating envelope. I package them in a a set of two and sell them for very cheep next to my Granddaughters Lemonade stand. The next morning we put our proceeds into the Church offering plate. I made $67 the cute little girls made over a $100.

Hi Cate, I really love your channel. Your teaching style is perfect for me, having spent months creating Art journal pages which I love from vintage to modern and everything in between. Yet feeling each page should have a set theme or be a certain way, when in all honesty my mind wants to do all you are teaching. I am happily ‘binge watching’ your videos and have resisted commenting as wanted to get further up to date on them, but wow I have had to stop to say a huge ‘Thank you’ for being you, for the way you teach and how we need to just escape and ‘play’. I am 62 and wanted to let you know that you have helped me to realise ‘Art’ can be creatively free! So happy to have found your channel, you are helping me to become un stuck, if that is even a correct phrase. Appreciate and connect with your methods and all that you say, thank you so much, Jan in Wales 😊❤xxx

Loved watching this for the first time on your channel. You created some exciting pieces. I wanted to ask you if you frame them for sale and if so would it be possible to see the completely finished product. Thanks for sharing all those bits that you do. I’m a card maker and sometimes do this technique with paper scraps making a collage which then gets cut up. I’m always amazed by how good they can look when cut up and embellished. I’m on the east coast of Australia and I’m sorry to say we have beautiful sunshine ☀️. I’m going to watch another video.

Thank you for your comment. Actually I don't frame them for sale as I've found that people like to choose their own frames, but I do sometimes mount them. I place them in clear cellophane pockets with my stickers on. I will do a tutorial on finishing and preparing for shows and exhibitions, that's a great idea, thank you. Ah the Australian sunshine!!! @CateField
@CateField 5 месяцев назад
Thank you, that's kind.. I am loving the idea of a painting night with friends, that sounds brilliant! Separate the pieces with tissue paper and place in a heavy book. Then put more books on top... or anything that is really heavy. We had some work done on our roof last year, and had some lead left over. That is REALLY heavy! It's important to protect the artwork though. I hope you all have fun :)

I’m loving all of your ideas and thinking about other things I could use to embellish these such as fabric and beads. I was wondering though how you would present these since they are not framed. It seems like a little frame would be great but then you’ve got expense with that.
@CateField

@CateField

Thank you Robin for your comment :) Over the years I have tried many ways to try and flatten work, and the best by far is placing each piece between sheets of tissue paper and then placing them on the floor under a whole pile of really heavy books! this is what ART has been reduced too? Seriously?
@CateField
@CateField 5 месяцев назад
Haha! Thank you for your comment. :) I've found in my long teaching career, that many people feel intimidated by 'fine art, and so never experience the absolute joy of putting paint to paper. So of course, art is not reduced to the marks we make, however, those marks become a starting point to creativity. It's fascinating to see how the great artists of the past and of today use different techniques to create their work, and I like to teach these skills and techniques so that anyone can have this experience, and not just the elite few. Thank you for taking time to comment :)
