This video demonstrates a quick sketching technique: monochrome painting. Julia uses Winsor & Newton Venetian Red, but you can use any other beautiful color. Choose a darker color that will give you a wider range of shades. Start with very diluted paint and add more pigment as you get to darker areas.
This is a great exercise that helps you:
✅ understand light and shadows in your sketches
✅ embrace imperfection
✅ control the amount of pigment/water in your mix
✅ get comfortable with leaving a lot of white spaces in your sketch, not painting every inch.
